^ For all the complaining we do about the quality of our projects, we have three great hotel rehabs with tasteful additions in the works right near each other. We have a lot to be proud of.

I thought Panda Express was planned for the intersection of Charlotte and Hillwood Blvd where the Shell station used to be located? In other Charlotte Pike restaurant news, the Pollo Tropical at Nashville West seems to be moving quickly. Mmm. Corn souffle.

That looks great for a Spring Hill Suites/ Residence Inn! I'm very pleased with this design.

If that is indeed the site, then I must agree that the height restrictions are outdated and should be revised given the area's current quick evolution. I also hope that some colorful materials are added to the Holiday Inn design like the new Spring Hills Suites on West End. I'm not expecting an extremely eye-catching design from a budget hotel, but a little color to liven it up more than recent nearby hotels like the Hyatt Place or Fairfield Inn would be a nice touch.

I am so excited about this project (I live just 3 blocks away) The abandoned suburban style apartment complex that is almost entirely razed now was a magnet for crime and honestly was the most detroit looking thing in all of Nashville. This is going to be great for this location.
Those apartments were pretty nasty when my cousin lived in them well over a decade ago so I'm happy to see they'll finally be torn down. Many family members on my mom's side grew up in Cumberland View so it's neat to see the new development starting to pop up in that part of North Nashville. It's happening sooner than I expected too!

Perhaps it's something else? I'm not exactly sure where the Holiday Inn site begins and ends. I just know it's near 4th and Peabody off KVB. I snapped this practically right across from The Rutledge and the Mexican restaurant when I noticed what appeared to be core drilling. Think the one story building that was behind the pole here was also torn down recently so something is going on.

Tom Wood is a local writer/contributor to The Scene. So are you of the belief that FromParkAvetoTn is the same person?
Probably not FromParkAvetoTn but who knows. I work in the Batman building as well and noticed the collapse. If you're like me and looking down at tourists day drinking in envy numerous times a day, then it's sort of difficult to miss a roofless building on Lower Broadway.
-
It's rather boring and uninspired, but I think it looks reasonably urban for a Holiday Inn. I walked by to grab lunch today and it looks like some core drilling may already be taking place on the Holiday Inn site.

We've been burned so many times that I'm trying not to get my hopes up too far with this. I might literally shed a tear if this one doesn't get built as rendered though. This is easily the most attractive major project we have in pipeline right now, IMO. These towers would also look great next to the new and improved Westin.

When it's a list of those over 1mil though, Nashville is 3rd in percentage for domestic migration, right behind Austin and Raleigh. We're 8th for overall growth among major metros in percentage as well. In that list, it was Austin, Houston, Raleigh, Orlando, San Antonio, Denver, & Las Vegas ahead of us. Make no mistake, it hasn't slowed a single bit.
Here's an article that further breaks down the latest estimates with a full list for all major metros. Third in domestic migration percentage growth is quite impressive. It's perplexing that some people still don't want believe that Nashville is booming just because we're not putting up Austin's crazy numbers. Those people obviously haven't visited recently.

If we ever land another theme park, I would hope that it would be a Cedar Fair park. I love their theme parks especially Cedarpoint and Kings Island. We go to one almost every year.

Gaylord needs to check out the Kalahari Resorts and Indoor Waterpark. One similar to the one I've visited near Cedarpoint in Ohio would make a killing here, IMO.

Any of our current or former Memphians have a subscription to the Commercial Appeal? A summary of the article from the link below would be much-appreciated.

Loved Potbelly as well when I lived in Ann Arbor. Glad to see they're entering our market. I also agree that the Gulch is in dire need of more quick and inexpensive food options.

I doubt chs would go downtown. They are a quite frugal company and it doesn't fit imo
Yeah, I was thinking the Seven Springs area near Brentwood off Old Hickory Boulevard when I read that they are considering Davidson County. That seems more of their cup of tea. Would love to have them in a new tower downtown though.

The parking lot would be the most likely location.
I disagree. That strip is struggling at the moment because of lack of parking. It needs to become more of a neighborhood destination with the influx of new residents. Just to clarify:it doesn't sound like the strip is being torn down, but that the parking areas will be built up.
The NBJ journalist who wrote the story said it's his understanding it will just be the parking lots.

^ I hope you're right. It would be rather short-sighted to tear down that walkable retail strip right before the area becomes flooded with new residents and visitors from all the nearby development. All that area needs is a couple of public parking garages to take the place of the large lot people were utilizing before Element started across the street.

Palmer would almost certainly go with a fresher design if this ever comes to fruition, right? The renderings look hella dated now.

So, now what?
With much anticipation, we have now seen Google's announcement, renderings of the Paramount, Virgin Hotel, Turnberry Development, the Emery/McMillan project, ground breakings for Bridgestone, The Westin, Aertson and SoBro and proposals for several mid-rise apartment and mixed use buildings in MidTown. All in just the past few months. So, now what?
I feel like we are about to hit a lull in the revelation of new, big project developments. Right now, I suppose we can look with reasonable anticipation toward groundbreakings for The Paramount, Emery/McMillan. Maybe the West End Summit project will move forward. I suppose there will be a Canopy Hotel announcement, or a 15 story office building in the Gulch, but unless something spectacular happens, it sure will seem to be slow. There sure doesn't seem to be any strong rumors of any 'wow' factor projects. ???
You talked West End Summit up...
-
That model looks like the dead hotel proposal for the Trail West building to me as well.
It seems like Channel 4 is too lazy to find the actual renderings for their articles. They used a rendering of the proposal for the old convention center in an article about Skyhouse on Facebook a couple of months ago.

Harris Teeter in Belle Meade to close
http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2015/01/09/harris-teeter-belle-meade-close/21512921/
This was surprising when I first saw the headline, but I can definitely see how having to compete with Kroger, Publix and Target would be difficult for that Harris Teeter. It's a very nice supermarket but somewhat hidden and HT is also pricier than most of its competitors.

Prince's wouldn't work anyway. The game would be over before anyone's hot chicken orders would be completed. You'd have to call in your orders before the first pitch.
Personally, I prefer to take my hot chicken in the comfort of my home anyway. I don't like people seeing me simultaneously snot, sweat and cry as I savor it.

That's Tony's original 1818 Church proposal before it was whittled down to the Terraces at South Beach/Lake Palmer with palm trees.
