[Signature Tower]

OK, my two cents as a resident of Nashville: This tower will be built, just like WES will and just like the 1201 Demonbreun towers will. This is part of expansion.

To comment - the proposal is not dead as Monsoon has suggested in post with quote "The proposal is now dead and the developer has gone back to the drawing board." The Burj Dubia went through something like 16 revisions before a final count for business, hotel, boutique, and residences was resolved. It took several years to achieve this. My data to back that up was the Discover Channel special on Dubai, as quoted one of the developers. Provided Signature Tower is nowhere near the icon that Burj is, it is going through the same process - revisions until it is finally accepted and built. Who cares if it takes five years total to get it sorted out. That does not signify death. Only delay.

To comment - I don't think her posts have been "childish" as suggested, rather I would say a little more unsympathetic to the building. I doubt seriously it is jealousy over Nashville vs. Charlotte.

I believe this is the last revision needed - and it will still have the claim as the highest residences in the US when it's done. 70th floor penthouse hasn't changed at all, in fact it was the first to get a contract. (Edit: This excludes the Chicago Spire until completion of each)

I pretty much agree with everything you said regarding Sig and Monsoon. I'm more optimistic now than I was a couple of weeks ago that Signature was moving in the right direction. Indeed, I was hoping Tony G. announced sooner than he would lower the number of condos.

I also don't think Monsoon is trying to start some petty city vs. city drivel. I've read his/her comments on other threads and he/she does often offer a counterpoint to some of us who are perhaps too easily excited over any and every bit of positive news about our favorite projects, cities, etc. There's nothing wrong with a variety of opinions.

What about the option of increasing the number of hotel rooms? Tony mentioned that was a possibility. Does anyone know how practical that option would be at this stage?

Well, I certainly hope the area doesn't remained undeveloped. As sprawling and unsustainable as the Nashville metro currently is, it is nice that area developmers are seeking to "fill-up" space within Davidson County instead of looking elsewhere. There's still plenty of "countryside" that can remain in the area but we do need proposals like this to curb the sprawl some. With that said, I would like to see this project done responsibly and with concern of future growth and development. May Town Center could be a nightmare with only one point of entry and exit so they will need to consider infrastructure improvements if this idea is to work.

Has everyone seen Charlotte's Lynx Blue Line which just opened up? Not only will it be an incredible asset to their core but it's actually a gorgeous system.

It looks like it's going to be far more successful than our cheap but haphazard commuter rail line to the 'burbs. We need to start calling and emailing our Regional Transportation Authority and public officials to encourage them to have the balls to invest in the future of Nashville and do something along these lines in years to come.

Sure, we'd rather have 3 towers instead of one...but not three 450 footers. Of course, we'd gladly take them but we already have plenty of those and one more about to start rising (Pinnacle). I'd actually love to trade you guys in Memphis a 450 footer or two for just a few historic buildings and little smidge of your urban fabric. Please?

Nashville's skyline has been pretty level for a while. It's a nicely balanced skyline but many also perceive it as flat. A new tower to break the plane would be just what the doctor ordered. It doesn't necessarily have to be a supertall. I'm sure most of us would have been more than pleased with the original Siggy height of around 800 ft. But Tony G. wants a supertall and we'd also be more than happy if it makes its' way to fruition as the proposed site seems just about perfect for the city's next tallest.

I don't mind the changes too much. In fact, the new base and the building in the back look great. Much better than before. I don't mind the new spire so much. The new one isn't as graceful as the previous one but it adds a bit more aggression to the building and makes it look less similar to the top of the Frost Building in Austin.

What colors will the materials look like at a distance? How about up close? Will it be sort of blue like the building appears in some of the renderings or more brownish beige? One of my concerns with this building is that it may be too similar in color to a number of other downtown Nashville buildings. I think Nashville's towers need more colorful towers and less beige/gray/concrete.

I'm really wondering the same thing now. That would be great and would leave pre-sales and getting a hotel as the final hurdles, right?
