  1. Updates from this morning as well as watching what they’re doing on top of the Deloitte garage. They have added some kind of lip or barrier if you zoom in. Looks like it has holes for water to drain so @queensguy06 probably hit the nail on the head.
  2. Also I’m not sure what they’re doing here. There are doors from BOAT that lead out to this space as well as a connection to the front balcony side of Boat which also has doors. Amenity deck maybe?
  3. Back in the office after the holidays. Looks like they’re working on floors 6/7.
  4. Back to the office after the holidays
  5. She’s a radical Christian nationalist army vet (discharged via her own volition) who allegedly arranged to drive people to January 6th but did not participate in the storming of the capital. It’s obvious the kind of person she is. If she didn’t participate, she certainly encouraged or at the least supported this type of terrorism. Anyone defending this type of person is complicit with domestic terrorism. Considering the sheriff came over and “prayed with her about it” (he says this in his interview with the press)we can’t expect trash like her to scale back their violent attacks against people that don’t align with the fairy tales they believe. Ironically she seemingly has no problem with the gentlemen’s club that’s literally a few miles down the road (Drag shows never feature nudity as it detracts from the illusion). These people move closer and closer to the “Handmaid’s Tale” by the day. In my experience, I only have ever been abused by Christians (physically and verbally). I’ve only ever had a good time at a drag show. Religious zealots are the worst. Maybe if they would read their religious text instead of throwing it at the rest of us, we could get along better. End rant.
  6. Sad watching this happen in the distance surrounded by all the construction noise on this end of town. I’m not necessarily sad about this particular building, but I do wish we hadn’t erased all the old character from uptown. Yes we still have some, but it doesn’t feel the same as other cities that have tried to preserve their old buildings or at least the facades.
  7. Took these last night from the bar Level 21 on top of 550 Brooklyn Village. Really nice property minus the squeaky elevator. The same person that got us in here works at the Vue so fingers crossed we can get up to that bar next.
  8. Update from today. Looks like they’ve started on a transitional floor or mechanical floor of some kind as it is is much shorter than the others. I’m not a construction person so feel free to correct me on that.
  9. Mid-week update Also, it looks like they are getting ready to open the sidewalk and road back up in front of the new Duke building.
  10. I would be interested in some links if you have any to provide. Specifically examples of cities that try to incorporate more “mixed-means” opportunities and how that gels with the capitalistic drive that creates the urban spaces that we all like to see as well at the gentrification that is a symptom. Are there examples of economic growth that also provide resources for the displaced populations? (Genuine question) could charlotte implement those same types of policies? I don’t know your friend so sorry for making assumptions if the statement was made with good intent.
  11. Sorry for the off topic contribution. Fully realizing that this is the internet and opinions are like a**holes around here, but this statement feels like it’s rooted in racism. It’s reads that the more white people that move in an area, the less crime there is. Maybe that was not the intent, but this type of statement puts the crime rate narrative squarely on people of color instead of on the city for allowing developers to put $800k homes next to a row of duplexes disrupting economic opportunity for poor disproportionately POC people. I would encourage your friend to spend more time in more diverse circles. Heterogeneous mixtures are precisely how we learn to get along. And if nothing else, nature proves that life prefers diversity.
  12. Oh I agree. I think coming from my former life as a teacher that you kind of just learn to be thankful for whatever positive you can find in something haha. I do appreciate the book recs though
  13. Progress update for the Duke Tryon facing side. I’m glad they’re spending time making it look nice like in front of the Ally building even if the retail numbers are lower than we would all want.
  14. Progress update. In regard to the Robinhood question above, I’m pretty sure we have the option to take over that other floor (9th) since we are subletting the 8th floor from them. I can tell you with all the hiring we’ve been doing, this floor is almost full. I think that we will slow down hiring a bit before the new year but I know that will need more space if we continue at our current pace.
  15. My boss was interviewed last night about it as he was headed out of the lobby. The news have been saying it’s going into”Legacy Union” but they will be in our building, the Deloitte tower (650 s Tryon st). Apparently there are only 2 leasable floors left. and while I’m here, progress update sorry for the garbage quality but this is the worst time of day for the angle of the sun
  16. Random shots from the top of the Honeywell garage.
