  1. Orlando high rises present and soon to be… My attempt of artsy photography and, lucky for the viewer, keeping my nostrils cropped out.
  2. For a reference when I took this pic last Friday I counted 18 floors so far. The ground level is a tall gape so I counted it as 2 floors.
  3. Buildings catching the morning light.
  4. Lol. Well for a while after moving in and before certain issues (which all new buildings have) were addressed, I did consider getting the chief engineer of the Radius to commence: “Destruct sequence number 3: code 1-B-2-B-3”
  5. A snapshot of where we once were. Publishing date: 09/30/1980
  6. She’s contently sitting there in the sun, patiently waiting for retail and wondering if there is a status on the long past mentioned sculpture for her plaza…
  7. A late afternoon courthouse plaza view from Friday.
  8. This was taken on 02/04/2022, the posting was late…
  9. Just now, 01/05 - 7am ish. Either a beautiful sunrise is beginning or, judging by the location, something really bad is happening at that power plant by 528
  10. One month and one day’s progress from this angle:
  11. Additions to the plaza in the form of wood planking for seating:
  12. Peak-A-Boo! At least from this view looking West in regards to the shorter out buildings of the courthouse.
  13. Pictures taken Monday morning that coincide with my last post. Pool, quiet area, views, and lobby. I also spoke with the office regarding possible retail. Tentatively: the tea entity that has been mentioned before and a small food market (yes!) that also may sell liquor (yes, yes, yes!).
  14. I was in building yesterday and checked out the out the bike storage and tv room (with no tv’s yet), along with the things ChiDev mentioned. Same status. Here’s to the phrase “expected to be finished in November “... I was there last Sunday and the majority of these areas mentioned did show work on them since then. When a prospective tenet walks into the lobby for the first time I hope they are immediately told about the lobby furniture delay. The lobby now sort of looks like your first apartment when different parts of your family donated you starter furniture so you could at least have a place to sit. My unit had multiple cosmetic problems and almost all of them have been corrected in the week since I pointed them out. I don’t know if Radius did this on purpose but when you are on the pool deck you can hang by the pool and look over bustling downtown facing South, or walk under the Eastern units built on that level to the Sky Lounge outside area (or whatever it’s name, I guess I better start learning them) which faces North and is more quiet and shows Orlando’s green canopy. A get away of sorts. Looking forward to moving in this week!
  15. Darn it! I have never been to an Alamo but for years have been reading about them. I was excited when I heard pre COVID that we were going to get one. For some reason this morning while letting the dog out, Alamo popped into my mind so I looked them up. It looks like they have more on their mind than opening in Orlando.
  16. Here’s a visual. I didn’t remember about this either until I read this post.
  17. The Fashion Square Burdines (Macy’s), though not an architectural treasure, started out with sloping walls at the bottom. That lasted around 10 years before they had to build a vertical short wall around the base. I’m sure that wasn’t cheap. Once walking by there a skateboarder almost took out my 5’2 foot mother. There was actual contact. She is a very pleasant lady but boy did she let loose her Navy Wife’s cussing when the dude didn’t even acknowledge what he did!
  18. In walking through the unfenced plaza to the front door for the first time I started to put a wish list together about types of businesses I would like see and not see. Because of spenser1058 I just added two to the “not see” wish list.
  19. Mission accepted Sir! Will be setting up home base in building soon! Commencing Operation Gladys Kravitz! Actually a recent “interrogation” of the staff did not yield any new information about retail but I did learn the exact location of the dog walk... Gossip...er...”updates”...to follow...
  20. Here is an alternative design for the DuPont hotel that never was and probably was the one the pilings were for. So did we dodge a bullet? I think it would have been nice (but what did the back look like from I4? Would love to know). It blends with the retro classic design of the office tower and reminds me of one of those old hotels still standing in Manhattan.
