601 Lafayette will be called VeLa Pie Town looks like it will be at least 25 stories.  VaLa Development, which has ties to the Post Road Group (who bought the land) has several similar type towers going up in Charlotte, Raleigh and Phoenix.

More behind the Nashville Post paywall here:

Here is VeLa design for Raleigh, NC (30 stories):

Great looking building for Raleigh. Please don't put those letters on top.

  2. I think “targeted to younger children” is the key here. I agree that Nashville doesn’t have a children’s museum that targets children under 6. I’ve heard great things about the adventure science center, but it also frequently comes with a comment like “you really need to wait until your kids are a little older for them to enjoy it.” The closest thing we have is the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro. I think a true Children’s Museum would do really well, but I get why it’s not popular on here as well.

@PostRural, dude thank you again!  Can't tell you how much I appreciate the models you built.  I've seen exact mockups for Chicago and thought how cool it'd be to see that for Nashville and now, boom!  You made that dream a reality!  A thousand times, thank you!!!

Curious for anyone in the know: why would they choose this type of  crane rather than what we typically see in Nashville (see background)? I’m assuming it has to do with space.

I am not "in the know", but typically these types of cranes are used to rise within the core of the building as opposed to externally (or along-side) the building. I am curious as well why they have chosen this type. hopefully someone who knows more can shed some light.

Just an opinion from an old architect who worked for one of the leading design firms in Healthcare in the US and even the world.  Amazon has certainly grown beyond the expectations for Nashville as one of their corporate centers.   I think that the massive entry of Amazon into healthcare will be HUGE and Nashville is the most likely choice to center the whole operation as Nashville is already the center of so many healthcare corporations presense.  I predict that new facilities to house this new Amazon divison will absolutely dwarf the 3 huge buildings in NY.    Look for 60 stories or more when this soon happens.

Very interesting! Wouldn't a 60 story commercial building be at minimum ~787' tall?

This will be a fantastic building and I doubt any city council people will be opposed to it considering it’s part of the YMCA

However it is on a lower part of the city elevation so keep that in mind as it’s constructed, it may not look as tall as the Batman building even though it is

Top of the spire at batman is ~617', this building is proposed to be ~750'. Could you be confusing this one with Amazon 3? If you're talking about Amazon 3 that makes sense.

    New updates on the Ritz-Carlton:

    - M2 Development and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architects wrapping-up 18 month design process.

    - Groundbreaking first quarter of next year.

    - Plan to be open first quarter of 2025.

    More at The Tennessean here:

    A couple new renderings:

looks phenomenal, I can't wait. Although, I don't think these buildings will ever be sun-lit from or produce shadows in this exact direction. The way I read it, the shadow on the morning of June 21st would be covering the southern half of the round about and probably grazing the northern edge of the Circle South site and it will never produce shadows further southwest than that. So Circle South shouldn't have to worry about being in the shadow of Ritz, I don't believe.
