Tons of street lights not working around Nashville
ThunderOne replied to ThunderOne's topic in Nashville Coffee House
The pole number is usually near the base of the pole in yellow and black lettering. Yes, it's quite annoying having to stop and take note of them, and dangerous especially on busier roads. Thanks, that explains why even on the highways the lights are out so often. So who do I need to contact about this then, if not NES? I am mainly curious as to why there is no proactive effort from the city to check these on occasion. Filling out requests on HubNashville is starting to feel as useful as throwing a deck chair off the Titanic, there's so many. -
They definitely do, I see them turning left from White Bridge onto Robertson all the time still. Not sure who I would contact to get sign/fine stuff implemented. Hub maybe? I have tried on a couple of occasions the past few years to reach MC and never heard back, so that's not an option. I can only imagine how much worse communication with constituents will be when the council is halved.

Hope this can go here, but I've started noticing and reporting on Hub Nashville the street light outages around Nashville. And boy let me tell you, there are a LOT of street lights out around the city. It seems like on a five minute drive in any direction, I spot at least 10 street lights out, if not more. One night I rode around on my motorcycle through maybe 0.1% of the city and opened 34 separate requests over a period of three hours. I'm not sure what NES is doing but they don't seem to be very proactive about fixing these and won't do anything unless someone unaffiliated with NES reports them. NES could honestly make a contest out of this, like the person to report the most street lights out win a gift card or something, especially if NES aren't going to do this job themselves. If you see any street lights out, please report them to Hub Nashville.. they have their own mobile app now which helps make it easier. And unless it is a highway/TDOT pole (which is another widespread issue I've noticed), they will usually make you enter in the pole number unless a string of them are out in which case you can just say that instead, although sometimes the HubNashville reps have the gall to tell me I need to take down the pole number of a light ON THE HIGHWAY. LOL. It is under streets, roads, sidewalks, then click street lighting.

I've seen several cars get T-boned at the intersection where Ohio, 56th, and Centennial all meet. There is essentially no visibility looking west onto Centennial from Ohio/56th and pulling out requires a leap of faith. I told NDOT about it, they just stuck a sign up on Centennial saying to "watch out" LOL. The fence, if this rendering is accurate, is not going to help wrecks here.

Now add in a semi truck that isn't able to merge in 2.5 seconds and lmk how that works out for the person trying to get onto the highway! Downright terrifying. This ramp basically requires the braking and acceleration capabilities of a Corvette. TDOT needs to chill with the "theory" and start facing "reality"

Yeah so did I, I don't think Huntsville is trying to be a walkable city. But I do feel a lot safer walking around neighborhoods there than I do in any residential areas around here. I think Nashville needs to decide which way it's going. Either walkable or drivable. Because right now it sucks at both. Equally. They both accomplish the same thing. One just looks different. Not sure underpasses are as economically viable what with the bedrock being 2 ft under the soil and blasting being required, but I'll welcome either solution, over or underpass.

Vernon Ave has already become a nightmare at this spot. With cars parked on just one side of the street it's a one-way street at that point, and people basically have to drive into the yards across the street to get out of the way. Once again I notify Hub nashville about a couple solutions and they basically tell me to kick rocks.

I've seen large sections of streets with new construction and the sidewalks are still very spotty, is Walk Bike Nashville still talking to the city about this?
