  2. I think the entire development is trash. Still mostly disconnected from the surrounding community due to a lack of mixed use development, Hampton Blvd disconnects it from Kensington even though the streets line up with one another(24th, 25th and 26th all cross Hampton Blvd but small traffic curbs force you to turn right from the new development and make it impossible to drive directly across from Kensington). The timing on the closest traffic light crossing the street from Kensington was absurdly long. Afterglow is near but separated from the new development by an offensively long, white gate and it doesn't even have walk up access(that's right! You technically have to walk in the street to walk there from The Railyard. So close and yet, so far) The sidewalks along Hampton Blvd are still too narrow, especially against the type of truck traffic speed and volume there. Is that a huge parking lot I see? ... AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT ENGINE THEY WERE GONNA PUT ON THE CORNER!? I was excited about that
  3. I really can't wait to find out what the struggle REALLY is. This level of non cooperation is on a deliberate level. Orchestrated level. No where else do you see this level detriment enabled by a state or even a nation. I'm telling you guys, a lot of this should be illegal for it's effect on quality of life
  4. https://www.kerrydougherty.com/allposts/2023/6/15/light-rail-idiotic-idea-in-2016-idiotic-idea-now I posted this over in the Beach forum as well but she brought up Norfolk so much it only seems fitting to share here as well. This is actually directly from her site as opposed to the one I shared in the Beach forum, which is a repost. You really gotta love the phrases she uses like "...they planned to build overpriced ant colonies crammed with condos and shoppes around the stops." Isn't that what the interstates do too???? Isn't that what literally any street does? Does shorty really think we can sustain communities solely by building single family developments and shopping centers??? How does she think cities grow?
  5. you know what I find precious? the fact that Kerry felt the need to send the ad to the mayor. I think Kerry got nervous. I think Kerry got really nervous. Kerry had to know that it couldn't happen because for a moment, maybe it seemed like it could in Kerry's eyes
  6. https://linktr.ee/tidewater_transit Well, well, well....... what do we have here???? guerilla tactics
  7. https://www.baconsrebellion.com/wp/light-rail-idiotic-idea-in-2016-idiotic-idea-now/ Interesting...... I don't know if Kerry realizes that making that opinion put a bunch of us on to a group that we wouldn't have known about. Ironic. Bad pr is still pr
  8. sigh........just build a new arena and stop being cheap
  9. yo......the way homeboy was just chilling in the chair when they were asking him the question just screams "it is what it is....we saw an opportunity to get rich folks back to Norfolk and we jumped on it."
  10. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6HCW2KiIkN/?igsh=MWVpdXd0eWd5NDFxYQ== I know this is a study about Chesapeake but considering the idea was initially about connecting the Tide with Chesapeake, I'm curious your thoughts on it
  11. Aight aight aight......Call me what you want but this one is QUITE bizarre and low-key dark when you really consider the implications; So, Mermaids are referred to as "Merfolk" which sounds oddly close to our city called "NOR"folk. Now, I've done a little research on the etymology of the word NORFOLK and found that it basically means "northern people." Putting it all together, I'm gathering that Merfolk+Norfolk kinda means the mermaid people of the north! Also, sirens "...lure sailors to destruction with song." Are we really just kinda glossing over the clear implications of what a SIREN CITY would be when you have THE LARGEST NAVAL BASE IN THE WORLD, ever, based in THE SIREN CITY??? The Siren that lures sailors to their death!? lolololololol WHAT!!! ??? LOLOLOL ¡Norfolk is boldly outta pocket for that one jajajajajajajaja!
  12. If I had it my way and it was feasible, I'd research building an arena smack dab on one of the corners. I was talking to a security guard at Mac Center about the size of Dillards. After some light research it would still need a bit more footprint to not be the smallest arena (OKC takes that one, I believe). If anything, it could just be a little bit taller or maybe dig into the ground a bit. Talks of Scope doing that but i think the water underground is still there
  13. yo........I'm gonna be so pissed if THAT'S what they are doing. It's right up there with the "transit oriented development" HRT told me was at every light rail station. Straight up, they really trying to "technically" have everything without any of the benefits common folk would appreciate
  14. Bro, of the city okays that drive-thru crap I'm gonna be so disappointed . They gotta know that suburban styled development is crippling in a small, landlocked city like Norfolk. Especially this close to the "urban core"
