I am curious to see design and price point.

That's the biggest problem with Greenville's architecture as it is. You've got a choice of a brick box or a glass box, or a brick-and-glass box if the architect is especially daring, but by God you're getting a box.
Non-box architecture is dramatically more costly and probably will not drive a corresponding increased ROI. Building a single family house is no different....every time the foundation and roof change direction, pitch, etc the cost goes up.

You're not the only poster to have said this, but I don't understand the idea at all. "Out of place" meaning what exactly? Both buildings will add to the fabric of our urban core. I don't want every single building to look the same. Maybe I'm in the minority.
I agree with that broadly and I certainly don't want the charming older buildings downtown razed for all modern structures. However, this building is not charming (aka hideous architecture) it is simply older. And juxtposed by connection with nicer architecture makes that even more stark. Look I get it, it is not my money and they are trying to repurpose that Canvas tower for obvious reasons. But that does not change the lipstick on the pig.

Welcome back.
Sounds like it is still alive to me: https://www.instagram.com/p/C36KlibReg1/
Would be silly for them to go through all of that trouble getting permits approved by the city not to build it.
The existing Canvas building looks SOOO out of place connected to that nice big new tower.

GVL is better than most downtowns but it would be nice to take a walk without being accosted by religious cults and homeless every other block.

I hate paying taxes, but the vast majority of the road surfaces in the State need repaving. SC has to have the worst roads of any State along the Eastern seaboard.
-
I am really disappointed this project does not improve the road in it's entirety from Greenville to the lake.

First time in Carmella’s. They are crushing it.

Hideous design. Cheap construction. A huge miss for downtown standards.

Hmmm....my browser is blocking that link as malware.

This should be a nice project....and likely very high end pricing.

It's an attractive building. The website has no information to speak of. I am curious to see how receptive the market is to condos sharing amenities with hotel guests.

My flight to Dallas on AA maybe 20% full. I haven’t been on a flight this sparse in a long time.

If you ever question why the 85 road widening project has been underway FOREVER, just drive by on any given day and look at all of the equipment sitting idle with no activity. Clearly the State of SC has never thought of performance bonuses to finish a project ahead of schedule.

Hopefully a "real" airline. I have zero interest in these fledgling airlines with no staying power.

Because there isn't enough of them already?

Are you able to disclose the new tenant?

Who gives a crap. One tenant. They come and they go. Next man up.

I find it interesting that the active railroad behind this site, and the condo project beside it, does not seem to hinder condo sales.
-
This instability is why I have never flown a start up discount airline, and likely never will.

They should have razed the entire site with a more cohesive mixed use plan. That Canvas building is just ugly. The mural is impressive but that is lipstick on a pig.
Proposal: 708 S. Main

The flaw in this project was trying to do residential condos on a site too small to handle parking effectively.
