  1. Yes the Bike/ped on Division is fully funded and construction will begin in late 2020 early 2021. All other projects are designed 90% or higher and funded. (except for Kaley)
  2. Major infrastructure projects are coming to SODO over the next few years. A new Kaley streetscape plan is being proposed that will create quality pedestrian space between the Museum and the Memorial as well. So you could walk between the facilities or ride a bus. Their are several pedestrian projects including a new $6 million dollar grade seperated bike/pedestrian trail being built from Michigan to Gore and from Gore into the downtown urban trail (eastside of Division Street). There will also be a bike/pedestrian trail from Division to Sligh on Columbia. This will connect the Sunrail/Amtrak station on Sligh with the new bike/pedestrian infrastructure in the district. Columbia and Sligh will also be rebuilt with significant pedestrian/streetscape improvements. The SODO area is going to look and function very differently by 2021/22. All these projects will bring about $30 million in public infrastructure improvements for streets, pedestrian and bikes by 2022. These projects are just the beginning for the district.
  3. The survivor walk will connect the memorial with Orlando Health. 4. EA will bring a lot of talent into the Creative Village/Downtown area and help anchor potential support businesses and potential startups. Its a great additional for Orlando.
  5. For those that would like to learn more and/or provide feedback you can: Visit the Orange County History Museum from October 3-10 from 10-4 (Sunday 12-4). Or go online at: onepulsefoundation.org/viewing
  6. I think you will find the proposed PULSE memorial and museum a big game changer for Orlando. I posted the concept designs in the SODO thread. The window tint place is not moving, but the memorial site will be larger than the current club site. The museum will be built on the southeast corner of Kaley and Division Street. Both sites will be connected by an upgraded Kaley Streetscape and a bus shuttle system. There will also be a memorial walk between the Pulse site and Orlando Health.
  7. I post more photos and picks in the SODO thread. This will go on the Pulse site (memorial) with the museum going on property located at the Southeast corner of Division and Kaley.
  8. On June 12, 2016 tragedy struck Orlando at the Pulse Night Club. An international design competition has been initiated to remember the 49 lives that were taken, their families, the 67 injured victims and all the affected survivors. This memorial and museum will be designed to honor, remember, engage and educate. 6 Design and Architectural firms from around the world have submitted the concept designs for the Memorial and Museum. The One Pulse Foundation will select the winning team on October 30, 2019. To learn more visit: www.onepulsefoundation.org
  9. One is tech/hq the other is the 6 final designs for the PULSE memorial and museum.
  10. Going to be a huge week for Orlando with 2 BIG announcements on the development front. Both projects have the opportunity to move the urban needle for the City in a big way.

  12. They did a very nice job with the Delaney Hotel and Tavern. Its going to be a great addition to the SODO area.
  13. Tupperware Sunrail Station. Glad to see more TOD around the Sunrail Stations. This is how you grow ridership. Source: Forum Architecture
  14. Galaxy's Edge officially opens on August 29th. But CM previews have begun.I am a Star Wars fan and a theme park fan and I must say this is the best land Disney has built. I don't know what all the negative social media, etc. is talking about, this place is amazing. Once the Rise of the Resistance opens in December this is going to be a big draw. Here some photos as well.
  15. Here are the detailed breakdown of the Universal's Epic Universe. Including theme lands, potential rides and economic impacts of this amazing new park/resort. The area will receive major infrastructure upgrades including dedicated bus transit lanes to connect the two resorts. The new complex will employ 14,000 people and will bring a 3+ billion dollar investment to the Orlando region. Here is a link to a video, if you are interested with more details. Photos all from Universal Orlando. Entry area Nintendo Classic Monsters Fantastic Beasts How to Train A Dragon
  16. This goes against everything I believe in for urban development but, building a stadium in Lakeland (between Tampa Bay and Orlando) might be an option. Especially if a high speed train gets built between Orlando and Tampa with Brightline/Virgin.
  17. They do need to figure out an over new brand connecting all this new development. Not sure Universal's Epic Universe rolls of the tongue.
  18. Not sure we need a 7th grocery store in the district. The good news the district is not a food desert.
  19. You probably won't see a lot about this from the City since the land is located in the County.
  20. The video is not designed to market Main Street or small businesses. It's to market the district to national and international developers/investors and help their decision making boards understand in 60 seconds SODO location in Orlando. It also helps the larger investors see the district's core assets (Orlando Health, transit, location to downtown and other current large scale projects.) The video does what it was intended to do and was done in-house by City staff. A focused video and a low cost to the community.
  21. Both names Epic Universe and Fantastic Worlds have been approved for use. It will be interesting to see which name they go with. The Epic is currently their marketing campaign for Universal Orlando. They may just be using it as part of the teaser campaign to fit into the current marketing. I am still going with Fantastic Worlds since that finally got legal approval.
  22. Here is the City of Orlando's new marketing video for the SODO District. With over $1 billion in new development coming over the next 5 years or so this district is going to change in a big way. Add in all then new infrastructure for bike and pedestrians and this area is primed to become Orlando's midtown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgF_UFu5hJA
  23. Universal Teaser for the new $3 billion + theme park and resort expansion. This is big news for the region economically.
