  1. The stadium made a ton of progress in March. However, April should be huge for it. I drove by the staging area this weekend and it is full of materials.
  2. In reading the city planning agenda meeting minutes from March 28th, these four story apartments will have space for ground floor retail. So that allows an opportunity to move the McDs and Popeyes.
  3. I agree but at the very least it will look cohesive with the apartment buildings across the street.
  4. Block 19 is at 501 Wood Street, right next to the Fire Station. This project is listed in the City Planning meeting agenda for April, you can find the submitted docs there.; https://www.norfolk.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/4862?fileID=9620
  5. The city will be posting an RFP for the Stuart School on 38th and Llewellyn soon. They have mentioned possibly arranging a charrette with residents of Colonial Place prior to doing so. Whether they do or don't hold a meeting for public input, I hope something happens. That building moves further into disrepair and becomes a bigger eyesore each day it sits vacant.
  6. I'm not sure I understand the need for another venue. Attucks is slightly bigger with 624 seats and sits dark more often than not. And with how seldom they use Chrysler and Harrison, couldn't they just rehearse there?
  7. The city council retreat is underway. Ryan Murphy of The Pilot is live tweeting from it. There is a lot of development discussion and focus in here to unpack. I am pretty new here but one development I may have missed or have never seen mentioned is a senior living development next to the fire station. Here is the first post of the thread; And here's the post referencing the senior living development;
  8. My original post was based on a rumor that I was able to verify as incorrect.
  9. I have heard the same thing about the multiuse building. It makes sense too since that small building currently under the endzone is being used by food vendors. One thing I haven't seen reported elsewhere. ODAF may have a big blue room in the new East Side stands, since there will be a multipurpose room over there. Much like the Ted, it would only be open pregame, halftime and postgame. They're trying to work that out and see if it would be worth it.
  10. Fantastic. Any idea what that new endzone would look like? I know they want a place for students to tailgate/congregate during pregame and that would likely be a part of this. I've also heard decking/SRO was possible, which would mean a loss in capacity.
  11. Phase 2 fundraising has already begun. They need to replace the north endzone bleachers as they are failing. They plan on placing a new scoreboard behind the new endzone as well. I'm hoping they connect the new endzone to the new east and west stands, but am not confident that will happen. They want that project to take place in 2020. But they're funding it all privately, so I wouldn't be surprised if that is pushed a few years out.
  12. That's great to hear. That lot had been an eyesore for a long time. Excited to see what they do with it.
  13. Will they force this one through after this reaction? https://pilotonline.com/news/government/local/article_dea4aeec-2332-11e9-bb4f-177cd944bcc2.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true
  14. A little off-topic but I noticed the old gas station sign was modified to be a muddy paws sign a few weeks back. I'm assuming they bought the gas station property and wondering how long until they start an expansion.
  15. Portsmouth is working with Bristol and Danville to get legislation changed to allow casinos to be built. It would be built where Holiday Inn Olde Towne was next to the marina. Could be a massive change for the waterfront in PTown; https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/portsmouth/portsmouth-now-rolling-the-dice-on-bringing-a-casino-to-the-city/1701171760
  16. Reaver Beach Brewing will be moving into the old Milan Station Post Office on the corner of Colley and 38th Street. Bold Mariner submitted plans for their exterior alterations on the old Bank of the Commonwealth building in OV. https://www.norfolk.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/4683?fileID=9367
  17. Haven't seen this one mentioned yet. Sorry if it has. But Lawson submitted to the Architectural Review Board their plans for an apartment complex on the corner of Brambleton and Tidewater. https://www.norfolk.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/4683?fileID=9378
