I  truly  think it's the lack of a large urban university/school in the city that promotes such a stifling (sterile) attitude and perspective from  outsiders.

Hmmm, I don't know about that one chief

There's this little area called University City in Charlotte, I would start my search there for a large urban university to see if we have one

And using the other historic name for the area -- Highland Park -- would have also solved the issue of confusion.  You mentioned South End and Uptown.  While I have no problem with those names per se, Charlotte is the only city I know of that has an uptown but no downtown.  It even has a midtown.  I'm not expert on this, but isn't midtown supposed to be between uptown and downtown?  Or maybe South End is now downtown (although I like the name South End).

I think @JacksonH is a Nashville or possibly even Atlanta native implanted here to subvert our city and make us question everything and every name we hold dear. I'm on to you Jackson

LOTS of riders on the BLE last night from JW Clay and UCity (and, strangely,  McCullough) to the Hornets game (I was on an SRO train at 5:30). UNCC commencement  only generated a slightly-above typical weekday volume of traffic (based on boardings at UNCC main) -- makes sense, commencement is the only day of the year when you can park for free on campus.

Actually you can park for free every weekend. Many people park in the lot next to the station and ride the train to events as to not pay uptown parking fees. The lot is noticeably fuller during things like Panthers games and the ACC Championship

This is in addition to the 25 story tower?!  Yes!  MODERATORS: Please change the topic to Design Center - 39 Stories!

The Meyers Park,South Park and any other random NIMBY group would lose their mind, screaming at random reporters about this on Twitter. Probably saying something along the lines of Legacy Union in their back yard or something else incoherent

I could care less about hosting a Super Bowl in Charlotte right now. It would be much more important for our city to win a Super Bowl than to host it.  People forget where the Super Bowl was hosted as soon as it is over, but they remember who won it. New England has never hosted the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh has never hosted the Super Bowl. Seattle has never hosted the Super Bowl. Washington has never hosted the Super Bowl. Baltimore has never hosted the Super Bowl. Kansas City has never hosted the Super Bowl. Green Bay has never hosted the Super Bowl.  Speaking of Green Bay, Lambeau field is the only truly historic stadium left in the league. People travel there because they want to see a game there.  We have a classic stadium in great shape that helped usher in a new era of stadiums and it is located in the heart of Charlotte. True football fans want to see a game played outside, on real grass and dirt anyway. I am all for the new practice facility that has been discussed, but I think we should hang on to our stadium for the foreseeable future and continue to keep it in great shape. That said, I would rather us fund a new stadium than lose the team if it came down to it. I wish that people would stop stirring this pot though.

Those places have never hosted the superbowl because they have bad weather. The NFL if playing outside wants relatively warmer weather, the players hated playing in New Jersey at Metlife a few years ago, NYC only got it because it was NYC.  Hosting a Superbowl brings far more revenue and business to a city than winning one. The only thing you get winning one is a parade and a new shiny trophy in some display case. Charlotte is right onnthe edge of the temperature range in early February that the NFL would like for an outdoor game.

  6. The above comment was correct. Will Healy of Austin Peay was announced as the new head coach today. Here is an email sent to students about it. In another email it said there will be press conference and presentation of the new coach on Wednesday December 5th at 2:30 in Richardson Stadium that is open to the public if you are interested in attending
