  1. I think including the Dominion towers sounds reasonable - but beyond that seems to be asking for a lot.
  2. Great news - because when I flew back in September I got like an EMB 145 with 2-1 seating regional that was about as small as they get (EMB 170 on way back felt like a jumbo jet)
  3. My problem with united is the small planes out of Richmond for many of the routes. The Chicago flight - hard to believe there isn't enough business for that flight to be a larger plane.
  4. You have seen the budget to raise the street?
  5. What is with councilman telling everyone he is voting know before the proposal is even presented. Rather close minded!!!
  6. Wow - those street profiles look nothing like Manchester today
  7. Looking at it - it shows the airport as a high frequency connector but not as a BRT route.
  8. Here is info on possible transit direction http://www.drpt.virginia.gov/media/2339/grtvp_final.pdf where it shows possible routes future BRT routes.
  9. The master plan shows 2 north south pulse lines (a Jeff davis side and Midlothian turnpike side going south ... and north too). Another east west through carytown area
  10. Someone like WOW with some Iceland flights would be terrific gateway from Richmond to Europe.
  11. He probably knows that if the affordable housing element is not in there he won't get the votes needed from the less affluent districts. He wants this to succeed - I think its a good sign. Politics of the past was push it through and hope it can be strongarmed through - now its put elements in to make it attractive for the whole city.
  12. Something to be said about getting it right vs. rushing it to a vote and losing!
  13. Seems like good compromise they could come up with is to not include the current new tower. Let that money go to general fund. but include the second tower in the tif. That way incentive for all parties to get the second tower built ... also the second tower should be as large thx increase since it is replacement of the current tower.
  14. Entire website now on project. Looks like they are moving to selling community stage. https://www.northofbroadrva.com/projectpage
  15. #1 - where does it say taxpayer funded. Can we get details before we bash it? #2 - I would assume the group who put this together (which has always seemed like more for the betterment of Richmond than pure financial gain - considering those involved) vetted multiple bidders and options throughout the process of them putting together this proposal to begin with.

    Richmond Sports

I thought the city and surrounding counties were reluctant to spend public funds on minor league baseball stadium - no current debate. Having VCU as partner appears to the current strategy (and a good one). Gwinnett went all in and was very irresponsible with public funds - that appears to be a fact. And Richmond wouldn't do it. The baseball stadium thing has been debated way to much in Richmond is just a pretty sore subject. I'm looking forward to the partnerships they have been working on to get a new stadium built in the 2020 timeframe.
  17. Probably clears the way for Squirrels and VCU to announce the new stadium plans - now that they have the approval pretty much for the land to be cleared. But sounds like new stadium would be 2022 opening.
  18. I'm prepared to say Scott's Addition future growth is contingent on good public transportation like the Pulse. The pulse opens up all of Richmond to Scott's Addition and makes it a prime spot for future growth with the ease of access to downtown jobs.
  19. I am personally looking forward to the Pulse and its eventual expansion. The days of no progress because inconveniences a few people need to be behind the city.
  20. I'm not a huge casino fan - but facts are they draw in people looking to spend money and have a good time. With recent article about Pamunkey tribe looking also to a downtown casino location - wouldn't it make sense for the Casino to be integrated into the new coliseum project or land directly adjacent (is there anything adjacent available on Broad Street). Seems like the perfect location as far as being a destination location in the city. They would also be able to help in some of the infrastructure costs and getting the coliseum project jump started with their investors' deep pockets right now. Destination location / Mass Transit availablilty / intersection of 2 major interstates Pamunkey Hard Rock - Richmond? Anyone? Coliseum / Concerts / Bars / Restaurants / Live Music / Casino - your talking a multi block destination venue that could put Richmond on the map for many major acts and events. The two projects together can bring a lot of people and their wallets into downtown Richmond and benefit both parties. *come for a concert - stay for the casino* *come for the casino - stay for the night life* I wonder if NH District Group has reached out to the tribe and that is why they are actually exploring that avenue as well now. Seems the two groups, if they worked together, could make for a well funded mega project downtown. And the great thing about all of this - its not the City of Richmond trying to force a venue down the taxpayers throats - this is private investment. Yes the city should incentivize it - but there isn't much for the naysayers to complain about.
  21. I've been hoping the hotel at the new coliseum complex will the be big one. With the number of rooms they are talking about and narrow corridor there (with maybe some apartments and retail in the tower) that could be the one (especially at the elevation level it would be as well). I'm thinking a tower a few stories above the VA Beach (40+) and we would have a winner at that elevated point.
  22. Here is the info on the land they purchased http://wtvr.com/2018/04/23/pamunkey-tribe-buys-over-600-new-kent-acres-aggressively-pursuing-va-casino-plan-1/ oops - I see your adding the part about the City of Richmond casino. Yea that is new!
  23. Per GRTC website -Pulse corridor cones/barriers removal starting this week with full scale testing going on with buses on routes next week. http://ridegrtc.com/news-initiatives/news-updates/removal-of-pulse-construction-barrels-grtc-operational-exercises
  24. New café and market announced http://dogtowndish.com/2017/08/27/the-butterbean-market-cafe-coming-to-manchesters-hull-street/
