  1. It's happening absolutely everywhere on the west side. There really should be more stringent rules around protecting the existing canopy. Most of the time on these projects, they'll cut down all the mature tress and then plant a few new trees upon project completion - half of them end up dying. Absolute shame.
  2. First movement I've seen in a long time! An external wall has been removed at the mill. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  3. Looks like the Scandinavian brewery is no more. Now Midnight Mulligan brewing https://www.midnightmulligan.com/ Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  4. https://qcitymetro.com/2021/05/03/duke-endowment-will-gift-west-end-property-to-jcsu-a-source-says/ Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  5. If I remember correctly, the duke endowment purchased it a few years back to avoid it being bought up and turned into a dollar store. There was talk of some plans to turn it into a food incubator, but never materialized. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  6. They've been so much fun to watch this year. The only teams that really look unbeatable for us are those with dominant centers like the sixers. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  7. Reminds me of the Soviet Safeway in DC... Never has fully stocked shelves. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  8. Yeah the sizing seems to be off of the ad. On my laptop (chrome browser) the x is unreachable. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. Did a little urban exploring this weekend and walked deep into MLK park behind Savona Mill. It's not hard to picture how nice the greenway extension along Stewart creek could be. So much potential. Add a few walking bridges to connect the park with the Savona development and you really have some beautiful "live work play". Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  10. There are a couple in Biddleville by JCSU. Believe it's Campus St. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Anyone have any experience with the UNCC Masters in Urban Design program that they can share? Dabbling with the thought of enrolling part time but don't have any personal references or connections to speak to the quality of the program and potential partnerships/career paths in Charlotte post graduation.
  12. Well you learn something new everyday. By the metropolitan. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  13. I liked the concept but the number of times I saw people break the rules made the policy meaningless. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. Update tour of the warehouse renovations. Starting on Jay St, then to Wray Ward, summit seltzery, and down the street. Good movement! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  15. A few pics from around the west trade corridor. First four are at Five Points and of the two construction sites to create the new Five Points plaza across from JCSU. Apparently there is a Rita's opening up right here as well on Rozelle's. So could be a nice outing with the kids. Pics five and six are of the proposal for the Mosaic Village extension that stalled out about a year or so ago. Sign is new so may be trying to dust this off again since it's right on the gold line. 16. Anything more you can share on this? Seems like this is one of those projects that can just never get off the ground.
  17. I77 underpass enhancements along the street car tracks with a seating area. A bit odd but much better than before. Best part of this is they have connected the sidewalk into the Greenway to Frazier park. Big win in accessibility for Seversville residents. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  18. Office and retail but don't believe any tenants have been announced Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  19. The mixed use redevelopment on Gesco St of the old Clorox warehouse has fencing up now. Both sides of the street. Seems work is imminent. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  20. Stewart Creek Greenway reopened this week after all the construction. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  21. Actually just heard Charlotte mentioned as an option on ESPN during the Mets vs Yankees broadcast. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  22. No, he pointed the building across the parking lot. Not the connected building. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  23. Traust is progressing but was slowed by covid. I met one of the investors the other day as I was passing by. Mentioned that the building next door will also be a brewery but didn't offer any details. That would make 2 breweries and a seltzery next to each other on Thrift Road Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  24. Keep the exotic cars... I just want an RV with a wolf mural on the back. Spotted uptown today. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  25. I think it's an interesting idea. It's a parcel right next to the Greenway leading uptown. So I assume that part of your target demo is someone who works uptown and wants to walk or bike to work but not live or pay uptown/south end prices. It could work? I will be very interested to see how they enforce the no car rule. I'm not sure it's possible to enforce? When I lived in DC there were plenty of people living in apartments that would just find street parking in the neighborhoods and leave their cars there until the next time they needed them - could be a week or two. Definitely annoying for neighbors but is it really a reason to petition against a development? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
