  1. In reading this "Inside Business" article about Divaris and TC, I read a paragraph of signed tenants that I had not heard of yet- "Recently signed tenants include: Plow and Hearth home accessories, Sunglass Hut, Atlanta Bread Company, Johnny Rockets, Jones Art Gallery, Samuel Shriqui Day Spa, and beauty retailer Origins." I know Sunglass Hut, Johnny ROckets, Jones Art Gallery, and Origins...duh...but I hadn't heard yet that Plow nad Hearth, Alt. Bread Co., and the Day Spa were signed to the TC. Have you?
  2. We have freedom of speech, but With Responsiblity! IE-You can't scream "FIRE" in a crowded theater when there isn't one. But unfortunatley, not the type of restrictions you're looking for.
  3. A coupe rumors I want to throw out at you... see if anyone has heard this or if they know more on it. I was at Hilton Garden Inn today booking a suite for my wedding night in June. I was talking to one of the employees about TC, yada yada yada. Well first of all (not rumor), she said that the reason this hilton was built small is because they weren't sure how the TC would do so they wanted to build a size that was on the safe side...ie-small. But, they are doing very well in sales along with PF Chang's and Cheesecake. (Rumor) #1 But she heard that Bravo! and Johnny Rockets are now the lowest selling restaurants in there chains. And that the Cosmo is only 33% full. #2- Also, she heard this week that the Columbus regal was going to close and move to the midrise block next to the Plaza. I think that would be dumb for them being that they are packed most nights out of the week and that the move would be only blocks from were they are now, and they just renovation. On the other hand, if Divaris or A/H has plans for the Columbus shopping center, then that's cool too. So, has anyone heard of these talking points?
  4. Brooks Brothers also sells womens apperal. So, tell your wife, or girlfriend, or a chick on the street. I'm sure they want there money too.
  5. I was down at the TC today, twice actually. My fiance has the buffet brunch at Keagan's at 10:00...it was awesome; and later my two brothers and dad went to Cali. Pizza Kitchen for dinner at about 4:00. I saw that "346" was open for business too. I seems like they put that store together fast! Origins at the Cosmo also has there signage up outside and it doesn't seem that they are too far from opening there doors. In your 15th picture on your first post look between the last Keagan's awning and the Brooks Brothers awing. There is a yellow and white sign in the window that says "coming soon, Blue Taxi". So in case you're wondering, it's going there. ...and the brewery, of course, is on the other side of Keagan's. The vibe down there is becoming really cool. I dig it! I can't wait to see what the future unveils for that place. It is becoming a real destination! Metalman
  6. It's not like I saw you posted it and decided to do it again anyway. I didn't see that anyone had posted this. And since it was about the ongoing developments, I decided to put it here. my bad, I guess.
  7. Trying to BUILD a better attitude in Norfolk. http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story...04725&ran=69135
  8. Getting back to the Virginia Aquarium talk earlier in this thread, if found this in a "museums and culteral arts operating budget recommendations" pdf. from the city. Program Description The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center (Aquarium) is located on a 40-acre campus on Owl Creek, just south of this resort area. This 120,000 square foot facility that houses a 3D IMAX
  9. Not really. There was one in Hilltop East that faced Lakin Road. From what I remember hearing, it was a bit pricey for a Dinner, they tried to make it up scale. It closed. Who knows... Before it was the red mullet, it was a Denney's. Now it is the No Frills Grill. Which I heard the food is exactly like the one in Norfolk. I haven't been to this one yet. I don't know where this Red Mullet is going to be. If I had to guess, I'd say Redmill Commons...ya know urban Pungo.
  10. The Ped. Brigde was going to go to the parking lot built across the street. And if you haven't been there in a while-Similar to the nice brick treatment made to the intersections around Town Center, Kempsville, and Indepence/Haygood, General Booth Blvd at the main entrance has blue brick cross walks. It looks kinda cool. Oh yea, They are also building a new and expanded care/emergency/rehab, etc... facility next to the aquarium on Owls Creek. Their current facilty is approx. two miles away near Norfolk Ave. where they had to transport sea water to the building. With the new facility being build they can pump all they need from Owls Creek. -Baltimore's aqarium is very nice. I think our's can achieve that recognition some day. The potential is there.
  11. Don't know if this is the thread you'd want this in but.... Has anyone heard of the renovations to be made at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center (Va. Marine Science Museum)? I have a friend who works there and told me of the interior change that are underway. If you've been there then you'll probably have an idea of where I'm talking about- -They are moving the Ray/Skate touch tank to where the Reef touch tanks are, in front of the Sea Turtle Tank. - They will utilize the current Ray/Skate area and nearby Oyster Shucking/Duck carving, history area to create an exhibit that tells the tale of Virginia from the Pre-historic era to present. My friend said they will have Komoto Dragons on display! She didn't go in to detail other than that. -They moving the Duck carver to the second building. -Adding a waterfall feature and other interior eviroments to the Main room that leads to the trail along the river. -Also mentioned that additions are to be made to the second building, but the have been constantly changing there minds... I think that's all I was told. Oh, and I'm sure some of you know that the pedestrian bridge to go over General Booth Blvd was NOT funding this year by city council It also sounds like some good stuff is happening there. I can't wait to see a dolphin exhibit get built there. One was propsed and planned years ago but PITA....err...PETA got in the way....maybe one day. Metalman
  12. For the Pedestrian Bridge, it says "Requested but not funded". What does that mean. Does that mean the funding is delayed?
  13. The website also updated the new retail and restaurant info with links for Johnny Rockets and Sunglass Hut. Also, it's the first time I noticed "Blue Taxi" under future retail. So what is Blue Taxi anyways? I personally can't wait 'till the coffee house opens up (Daily Grind) . I've been a lost soul ever since First Colony Coffee House closed in Hilltop .
  14. Speaking of Circuit City, my cousin works at the Circuit City in Va Beach (town center area). He said they are going to be completely renovating the store in the near future and rumor has it that they will add a second story. I'm going to keep on him about that to see if any truth comes out of the rumor.
  15. Have you always had that picture up? I just noticed it yesterday...maybe I'm blind. That place is gonna look great! Damn Vdogg, what did you do? Take a shot of Cuervo before writing that last sentence. You're spelling threw me off for a sec. I thought my brain was slowing down there. Then I realized the words were just fubared. I'm just jokin' with ya. I know...typo.
  16. Vdogg, When and where did you find that AWESOME rendering of Fort Norfolk on the construction and projects thread? It's the first I've seen of street level renderings. That looks awesome, very dense and could be a very lively and active area. Definatley extends the downtown boarders. If developers utilize the old warehouse with the new buildings, it could become our Shokoe.
  17. Any word on Tower Two? I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting to hear about this one.
  18. That last pano. might be a another good pic to do some photoshoping with future towers.
  19. No, I didn't see that tv spot yet. I'll check it out. My brother and cousin were there. They saw Bucky Lasik and Sergie Ventura, though.
  20. About Hampton Roads based movies- The Powell Perelta "Bones Bridage" skating videos (tony hawk, lance mountain, mike mcgill, etc...) Show the Mt. Trashmore vert ramp and some skate ramps around the country donned the Windsor Woods Boys "pitchfork" logo. BTW-The new vert ramp at Mt. Trashmore that opened last month brought in some high named skaters for the openening weekend.
  21. Nice! For our honeymoon, my fiance and I want to go to Belize, but I think time has pass to get a passport...we procrastinate a little But we might save Belize for next year. Today I mentioned taking a cruise out of Norfolk. This might be a possibility! I'd be nice to not have to drive to Florida to get on a half decent ship.
  22. I wasn't able to go buy my parents and brothers went today. Rock on...another Mets fan! right on rus.
  23. From what I remember hearing/reading, the theater scheduled for the Town Center midrise block is going to be a Sundance Theater- Independent/Art films cinema of the Sundance film festival company- owned by Robert Redford. I say thumbs up if it is. It will help bring art and culture to our Town Center along with the PAC and a diverse array of restaurants.
  24. I think that even if people don't know where Hampton Roads is, then you inform them....boom, instantly, they know. It's not that difficult. There are plenty of areas, locals, geographic locations that are not of a particular city, but because- A. I looked it up, B. Someone told me, or C. I heard about it in a advertisement/comercial/tv spot/ marketing campaign, I now know. IE- The Research Triangle, The Tri-state Area, The Bay Area Those names are completely non-discript, except maybe the word "bay", but most people have learn where those areas are or what the names refer to. Maybe Hampton Roads isn't as common of a name throughout the US, but all it takes is for one person to tell someone where it is and they'll know. It's not a calculus equation.
  25. So that's were marketing and advertisment come into play.
