  1. This was an early rendering. Don’t know why I can’t get the image to show… 65BD07B0-933C-43C2-BD8E-BB4EB93A6A64.webp
  2. I prefer the Wellness concept also, however I think the arena should seat 18,000. We don’t need another too small arena. People warned decades ago that Scope did not have enough seating but it was built anyway.
  3. From the Pilot today (regarding the Portsmouth Casino but will affect Norfolk's too): At a Lottery Board meeting April 21, Kevin Hall, executive director of the lottery, said he expected to open the operator license application process “in a matter of weeks.” Vetting the applications involves “in-depth financial and criminal background investigations” and could take up to a year, Hall said. Along with the license application process, the lottery board is working on regulations. Meanwhile, casino projects are in the works in Portsmouth, Norfolk, Richmond, Danville and Bristol. Speaking to the Lottery Board, Hall compared the situation to building an airplane as it’s in the air.
  4. You would think the Amtrak station would have been incorporated into the garage.
  5. I wonder how the Amtrak station is incorporated in this design. We don’t get to see that side of the development.
  6. Casino renderings hopefully
  7. There is a new apartment complex planned for Northampton Blvd next to Ikea (Not the best picture). This is on the April Planning Commission agenda. Norfolk (and VB) are getting a lot of these and they all look the same.

  10. I understand the disappointment with the change in design for this project and reduction in height but in my opinion, it should be built. If it’s not built there then it will end up in Town Center (remember Clark Nexsen).
  11. It would have been cool if our Union Station had been saved and renovated into a hotel like Nashville did with theirs.
  12. That is the now demolished Monticello hotel. The federal building now occupies that corner.
  13. I'm not surprised. They just seemed to drag their feet on this project and now with COVID, they have an excuse to not move forward.
  14. ...and of course, the Monticello.
  15. I think 18,000 seats should be a minimum though. Don't make the same mistake when they built Scope.
  16. According to the Greyhound website, it's just a bus stop there. The location is awful, who do they think would want to go over there to catch a bus?
  17. I don't understand why they would move since the TCC Visual Arts Center has been delayed, if not cancelled altogether.
  18. Anyone know where Greyhound relocated to? The bus station on Brambleton looks deserted. Even the name is gone.
  19. Yeah I agree. I grew up in that neighborhood and used to walk to the Giant open air market when it was open many years ago. That lot was perfect for a couple high rise residential towers that would have had great waterfront and skyline views. I too am glad they put something there but it's a wasted opportunity. And I might add, the civic league had a lot of say in the design of those buildings which is why they look like they do.
  20. Demo and construction will be starting soon. https://www.pilotonline.com/government/local/vp-nw-norfolk-st-paul-construction-demolition-start-20201027-egxrvdrv35h7vayca4tkfzkwre-story.html
  21. Drove past the site today, construction has begun on this project. https://www.multifamilybiz.com/pressreleases/12244/lawson_to_begin_construction_on_164unit_market_hei...
