  1. I loved this - it is very bad. Once you get beyond Post Uptown the sidewalk is way too close to the road and the cars move way too fast. I think they should have a crosswalk at the corner of 7th and Graham and/or 8th and Graham or do some road diet and street parking or trees or something to make you feel somewhat safe. It seems every time I'm walking I have my head turned to make sure I'm not going to get hit by a car.
  2. Does anyone know what is going on with the 4th Ward Bread Co on Graham St? There's a bunch of stuff in there and the light is always on but it doesn't seem like anything is actually getting done.
  3. I'll go with another one - I was thinking maybe the reason it was so peaceful last night was because all of the agitators left after they found out on Wednesday that there was no retail worth looting in Uptown.
  4. I noticed that they finally changed the "Welcome to Charlotte" skyline sign as you're going down the escalators to baggage claim. It's much better than the super old one they had before. Now if only they could replace those 2 very old pics of the skyline and Lake Norman when you're walking through Concourse E.
  5. Above post not supposed to be a quote
  6. Think you'll also be able to see Epicentre hotel behind BoA Plaza?
  7. The Music City Center in Nashville is pretty awesome
  8. Interesting - would it be in this parking lot? https://www.google.com/maps/@35.2304988,-80.8447879,3a,75y,195.04h,86.91t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1svynrQzu97mlVCjWEYlitaw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The only other spot I could think of would be the Vue parking lot across from Harris Teeter
  9. Switch Duke and BofA and I agree with you
  10. On a superficial look I'm in the camp of loving those townhouses depicted by Crescent but I also take more stock in RDF's word than a single picture. The challenge here is definitely creating cohesion between the College/Tryon area of Uptown and the dead zones of the Brevard/Caldwell area (NASCAR, former AT&T, Zion, Convention Center, Fahrenheit, Gov Center parking deck, CTC, etc.)... all the Stonewall development will obviously help big time but the dream is complete cohesion across those streets, the government district and into Levlineland... a guy can dream though right?
  11. I can see the Moriarty folks being pretty psyched about the opening of Murphy's right around the corner which, as falsely stated in another thread, is not a same-old "faux Irish" joint
  12. I think we will beat the heat easily we have a great match up here I wanted anyone but the Hawks
  13. Sorry guys this was relevent when the PayPal news came down and it sucked, if any more of that type of news comes down let's talk but we gotta move this back to the Coffee House please
  14. I appreciate the replies from all of you - I just got into the story now that it's blowing up in our faces and what I took from it was that Charlotte is being inflicted punishment because Charlotte is the greatest contributor to the NC economy, hence if you punish Charlotte you punish NC, but by inflicting punishment on Charlotte you are not at all affecting the constituents who actually voted the people into office who passed the bill in the first place because they are not located in Charlotte - furthermore, the people who voted the people into office who passed the bill hate Charlotte so they're just having a grand ole time - obviously you see why this is so frustrating to an average citizen such as myself.
  15. The fact that these companies are pulling from Charlotte proves that they don't know anything about this law or this story - just a bunch of corporate PR BS. If the NBA ASG moves I'm going to lose it.
  16. Why are you embarrassed for the city? I don't give a damn either way I just want Charlotte to prosper - but I know for a fact that Charlotte has nothing to be embarrassed about.
  17. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/techflash/2016/01/avidxchange-to-make-announcement-thursday-at-n-c.html AvidXchange is making another announcement Thursday at the N.C. Music Factory. Mayor Jennifer Roberts will be there to announce “news regarding a change (not previously announced) that impacts the entire N.C. Music Factory complex.”
  18. Just for fun, I began calculating the payback period for this investment and I hit a snag as I am not at all an expert in this (just using a basic discount cash flow model). We know how much they paid for the land ($150,000 x 26 based on the above post), we can make an assumption about building costs using comparable project budgets (haven't done any research), but I'm having trouble coming up with the cash flows (we can make an assumption about rent - $4000 per in the above post - but I have no clue how much of that they would actually take home after operating expenses like property management, taxes, insurance, etc.) - anyone more versed in this topic want to chime in on how firms make these decisions?
  19. Don't forget that pointless outdoor seating area that no one in a million years would use.
  20. Serious question: was this a shot taken from the show Secrets and Lies?
  21. Yeah, I took my Dad on a tour of Uptown a few weeks ago and we went to Bearden - he said: "Man this is beautiful" the first thing he said after that was: "I bet they're kicking themselves for building that parking deck though" (referring to the one at the corner of 3rd and Church) I don't know when it was built but I'm assuming at the time the general sentiment was that as long as Tryon is nice, everything else is fair game.
  22. "GSA Administrator Denise Roth said the government is seeking funds to build an annex behind the building on what’s currently a parking lot, and the request is third in priority for federal courthouses nationwide." That would be nice to fill in that lot. Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article45344988.html#storylink=cpy
  23. Chiquita sign came down today
  24. there seems to be a lot of good questions that can be asked here - I think the key question is: where is the nearest Residence Inn to that Residence Inn and, due to the proximity, do they not regret making themselves a JW instead?
  25. Just curious, if someone did want to buy that lot, how would you go about that and how much do you think it would cost based on comparable lots sold?
