Will be interesting to see the layout of whatever they propose. It looks like a very long narrow strip of land and that’s before they add set backs from the road for a sidewalk. Always thought the only thing that would fit there would be townhomes. Hopefully we’ll see something creative.

Noticed google maps has updated the satellite view of vantage, rail yard, and the 2 apartments just getting started and it looks like very recent images. I’m hoping that means the rest of center city and southend get updated soon. Some of those images are a couple of years old and the area has changed so much!

I hope the Tupelo Honey building doesn’t go. I love it. There’s plenty of parking lot to build the tower.

I guess that’s for the Hornets game tonight, but they need to work on the teal color.

Does anyone know what they are doing at The Local on 5th street? Looks like they were ripping out large sections of the exterior walls today. Now that the sidewalk has been widened are they adding outdoor seating?

It also mentions they are considering renovations to overstreet mall which I believe are desperately needed. I’ve worked uptown for 25 years with most of my time in BofA Plaza and overstreet has never been updated, but the actual building renovation was spectacular.

Confession - For the first couple of years I followed UP, I thought ricky_davis_fan_21 was the lady in all the photos.

Based on the rendering it’s 8 floors, but thought they had flexibility to expand to 10 if there was enough leasing interest. Now that it’s going vertical, I’m curious if they were able to expand.

I love Sabor! A bit surprised they would take a space that large. All the ones I go to are very small. I know they are different concepts, but it will be interesting to see if it impacts Cantina a block away.

McDonalds closed in the BB&T section of overstreet mall. Anyone know what’s taking the spot? I remember eating breakfast there 23 years ago waiting to go to my first interviews that brought me to Charlotte. I got to downtown really early so I wouldn’t be late and that was the first place I found, but back then that was about the only place to get breakfast.

The height is fine, but the design... Ugh. Dark glass and white top reminds me of the BB&T center a few blocks away. So dated.
