  1. Midtown cranes viewed from Church Street Viaduct. HCA Headquarters under construction viewed from over top of Eleven Eleven complex on Church Street Viaduct. Hume Fogg High School Gymnasium nearly complete. Like how they incorporated some of the old stonework into the front design.
  2. Some more info on the purchase and transition of the Dollar General store on 5th Avenue into a Fresh Hospitality restaurant… http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/09/04/restaurant-planned-downtowns-dollar-general-space-fresh-hospitality-confirmed-suitor/71720470/
  3. I would put this in the "Nashville History" thread, but can't seem to find it. This is a film made about Chicago in 1946 showing much of the architecture and city planning of that time. What is interesting is that at least 65% of the structures that are shown no longer exist. Just some perspective for folks who are always complaining about how the great old structures all seem to be gone. This phenomenon of continual change is true of every growing, vital city. http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20140313/auburn-gresham/restored-chicago-video-found-at-garage-sale-shows-1940s-era-city
  4. I certainly hope not…I like the curved sides. We can all pray that perhaps there will be some sort of distinctive crown with jaunty night-lighting being added into the mix. : )
  5. Excavation beginning for Stix public art at Music City Circle roundabout, and the demolition progress at United Methodist Publishing House (future site of Turnberry Marriott). Sept. 2, 2015
  6. Yeah, with this sort of investment, I can't see it being a sprawling site. I would bank on fairly dense structuring, perhaps a 30 story building or two along with several 15-20, and a bunch of 5-10 story range. And it would, indeed be a logical place for a train station should CSX ever want to play ball.
  7. Cool! I was wondering if we would ever get a bakery to replace Becker's. And this will be in the exact same building! (two blocks from my house---there goes my slim figure).
  8. The LA investment group led by Wehba is adding more surrounding properties to the 14+ acres of the LifeWay Campus redevelopment. This thing is going to be HUGE... http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/09/lifeway-buyers-snagging-nearby-land.html?ana=twt
  9. Based on this comparison schematic, the Buckingham Tower will come in at right about 430'.
  10. The Hayes Building design calls for several large tracts on the first floor for restaurant/retail facing 2nd Ave. and 1st Avenue.
  11. They are trying to start a tradition of one UT game at Nissan Stadium every September to help solidify their fan base in this part of the state.
  12. This explains the delay…they are trying to buy out the entire block for the project instead of the current 85% they have now. It is the 2 story building that Qualifacts is in that they are attempting to purchase. http://nashvillepost.com/blogs/postbusiness/2015/9/1/developers_seek_sobro_lot_consolidation
  13. This explains the delay. They want to get the entire block instead of 90% of it. Hopefully will be worked-out soon.
  14. When examining the diagrams, it looks like it will be more than 38 stories: 34 stories in the primary living space, 1 very tall first floor, the garage is the equivalent of 6 stories of living space, and then the crown at top is equivalent of 2 of the living area stories. Grand total of 43 stories. I'm thinking the whole thing will be in the 450' range. And if the primary color scheme has a gold tinge to it, that will be a nice change of pace from so many blue/green structures. However, it might blind some drivers on the interstate at sunrise/sunset depending on the time of year. ; )
  15. Fresh Hospitality Group buys 4th Avenue site of former Little Mexico Restaurant. My guess is that whole side of the block south of the church building is going to be developed into something more substantial than just restaurants in the next decade. http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2015/08/28/restaurant-group-buys-sobro-property/71343792/
  16. More info on this quite large mixed-use project (over 5 acres) at 4th and Chestnut: http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2015/08/28/mixed-use-project-works-th-chestnut-property/71351476/
  17. Nashville ranked #3 in nation among "Hardest Working Cities." http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/industries/2015/08/28/nashville-among-hardest-working-cities/71274180/
  18. Groundbreaking set for Sept. 4 on Division Street Connector . More info on contractor, design, etc. here: http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/08/28/contractors-revealed-gulch-sobro-project/71283396/
  19. The article states that one of the interested buyers is thinking about a 20 story residential tower w/ ground-level retail and some office space. This would be very visible butted-up against the freeway.
  20. Now that May has bought this lot, I wonder if he will plan a large structure there? It would be ripe for another 20-25 story hotel or condo or apartment…maybe even office building as it would be facing the new Riverfront Park with the base of the pedestrian bridge to the north and the new Hayes Tower to the south. I would think there would also be serious consideration of taking out all of the Market Street Apartments (which he already owns) on the west side of the lot and fully redeveloping the entire block. It will be paramount that the first floor of any of these changes be fully activated to the streets on all sides to help encourage the flow of the food/entertainment traffic further southward from Broadway and 2nd Avenue. I can see where this whole stretch of 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd Avenues from Broadway down to KVB will be very active contributors to Nashville's overall entertainment/tourist scene within the next decade. http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/08/24/sobro-parking-site-sold-6m/32284719/
  21. Hotel/mixed-use development eyed for 500 S. Lafayette property (across from City Winery) http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/08/11/hotel-mixed-use-project-eyed-sobro-property/31473159/
