  1. In Petersburg they are finally starting on phase two of the seaward luggage redevelopment project. They tore down the old tanning buildings and are starting to empty out the main buildings. Also on high street many houses are currently being renovated. Also a New York investor has bought and is demolishing the old broadway motel for a future gateway project. Update if the gateway hotel project on the other side of the street does not get financed by January's city council meeting the council may put the building back on the market. Meaning that Petersburg may not get it's gateway development project for many more years. Hopefully C.A. Harrison Companies will get their financing together. Also work is wrapping up on the renovation of the historic court house in Petersburg, in case you were unaware it was about to fall down and the fire marshal shut it down, luckily the city was able to save part of it. Hopefully more money will come into the city so that the interior can be saved. This is an older picture Petersburgs downtown area is also undergoing a lot of renovation next time I'm down there I will document it.

  3. I know that there was a fire in the building about a month or sometime ago, I do not know if this set back the development.
  4. Well on this end of Hull we have McGuire Woods perhaps they could partner with the community, like Bon Secours in the east end. Also let's not forget the Hull Street 360 project.
  5. I agree with the ideal of preserving the view shed. The park is a public asset and if I lived in the area I would want to retain my view shed. There is plenty of room in this city, this rust belt of the city has undergone extensive changes. Maybe it's time for council to look at the area around Belt Boulevard and South Side Plaza? GRTC has announced putting their transfer station for southside at South Side Plaza. GRTC seems to be the only company really investing in this area of the city.
  6. Clopton Site works is really picking up, this area now derelict but with extremely cheap real estate in the next few years will see an increase in development. Clopton site works is really going to make it's self into a cool industrial city within a city it is really coming along nicely. The missing key is the Model Tobacco Building, tie it all in and fix up a few buildings on hull street with a facade improvement program and this area will be booming with entrepreneurs, artest, and tec companies. Let's not forget the tobacco plant next door to model tobacco on Jefferson Davis that is undergoing a 29 million dollar renovation. http://www.richmond.com/business/local/article_84e6100a-ba89-56c8-b361-eec616ff3560.html Also on lower Hull Street Redevelopment still is underway ! Basically what I'm trying to say is that if you build it they will come and while you're at it throw in some more cool art.
  7. Also I do not think that public funds should be going towards a private entity. It would be wiser to approach the current tenant or organization and work with them and not use our city funds. Those funds should go towards parks that need art, or even adding art to an area that will raise the tax value assessment of the entire area bringing revenue back into the coffers of city hall. Art should be seen as an investment and art! Also many of these organizations downtown also have a yearly art fund it may be wise to approach them, The federal reserve each year in Downtown Richmond invests in Art but I doubt they would want to Cap their building.
  8. we are about to see a lot of change this year regarding infrastructure in Richmond. http://www2.richmondgov.com/CapitalImprovementProjects/

  12. Crushed stone is better for drainage and most if not all of the parks in Paris, France use crushed gravel and the only issue I ever saw with it when I lived there for a year was with pot holes from soil that was sunk in, but it is great for all pedestrian usage.
  13. thats great, the image i got was from a report in Oregon Hill news
