  1. After being born and raised in Knoxville and leaving for MTSU in 92 then moving up the street to Nashville until 2012. Knoxville has been always geared around the University of Tennessee. Once I was old enough to leave for college. I left and never looked back as most of my High School friends from that area did. Still to this day if I go visit family. I have to be gone in 48 hours(weekend visit). It's depressing because I remember how it was then and still how it is now. If you have ever noticed. The immediate area around UTK(the strip area) always get the majority of any new construction and will have most of your tower cranes no more than a block from the strip(not passing Ft. Sanders Hospital). If I'm not mistaking. Someone on this board a while back talked about I think maybe there is a Walmart and Publix that was recently built next to campus. So just imagine for anyone that has never lived in Knoxville for a period of time. Imagine all development is around the Vanderbilt, West End, Hillsboro Village, Midtown, etc and never leaving that area. UT is Knoxville's heartbeat.
  2. Where downtown would a stadium be built? We all know with recent stadiums come surface parking in the south? Don't mention PCS Metals site are next to the Titans Stadium because we all know "That ain't gone happen".
  3. Don't forget to walk a few blocks to checkout their Target that sat on the corner from the convention center.
  4. WOW!!!1995. I wasn't even born yet. Great pictures though. I remember back when this was being built at that time. I didn't realize it was being built when we would go downtown to the Mix Factory on Tuesday nights(Fight Night), Thursday and Saturdays when I was at MTSU in undergrad. The good ole day's. By the way. The Mix Factory was ahead of its time. That place would be a blast now being four floors sitting on the corner were Asurion is with Have a Nice Day cafe down the street with the big yellow smile on top of the building. Ahhh the good ole day's of partying in Nashville.
  5. If I can recall. I remembered seeing the few surface lots that are in Manhattan for parking use this type of system where the cars are stacked on top of each other. It's on the ground though rather than on top of a building.
  6. We all thank Mayor Dean for having the big freaking "Cajones" to have a vision to drop a little over a half billion dollars right in the teeth of a bad economy at that time for that 2nd legacy project. As asinine as it was Mayor Dean let people across the country know that Nashville was looking good and strong at that point and everyone across the nation was like "WOOOO" what's going on there and push their chips in on Nashville as well. That made an enormous statement. Those of us that use to live or are still there are excited seeing the ever changing skyline and massive developments continue for the city for years to come. I'm just curious of what Mayor Berry's legacy game changing project will be to put Nashville on that next level. 4 people like this
  7. Did Jacksonville's TopGolf start construction before? I think what happened is that CSX held up the whole process for a while on the land purchase because it was something to the amount of the rail tracks that were on the property. Then on top of that. With the enormous amount of construction going on there. The permits were coming in at a snails pace. TopGolf Nashville was originally suppose to open Fall of 2016.
  8. I don't think anyone has realized that Nashville's TopGolf was originally announced a few months before Jacksonville. Jacksonville's TopGolf is already up and running. I think the grand opening was a few months ago.
  9. I went to visit Austin back in 2013 for the first time right after moving to Houston. Went to the Domain while construction was still being done on the movie theater at that time and the place is unique. If I am not mistaking. I think either there may be office space on top of some of the restaurants/retail. I could be wrong but I think I remembered seeing that. The whole setup reminded me of the Boardwalk in Shreveport LA minus Nieman Marcus.
  10. I remember going to Carowinds in Charlotte back in the 80's. Is that place still open?
  11. Oh wow. It's almost done. Here in Houston. Neiman Marcus is literally right across the street from Dillards. It would be really nice if Neiman's, or Bloomingdale's opened in Nashville at that location. I guess sometimes in the near future. There should be some news on what will open once the next phase is complete.
  12. Does anyone know or have pictures of what the progress is at The Mall at Green Hills for the new Dillards? Wasn't they suppose to build a new Dillards and knock down the old one to rebuild for new additions to the Mall?
  13. When we first moved to Houston from Nashville a few years ago. I sold my Nissan Titan because I knew we would live on the light rail line next to the medical center. That was a great idea. We kept my wife's Camry for use just in case we needed to drive out. To get Texas plates which you are issued two for the front and back was about $175.00 initially and the inspection was around $35.00. Tennessee I believe emissions are about $10.00yr but Texas requires an inspection every year before you renew on all vehicles. So just imagine if that same scenerio was used in the state of Tennessee for transit.
  14. Wow. So a floor every 4 working days is basically going up around the pace as Skyhouse before it topped out. That is moving pretty quick. So around New Year's the building will be standing really tall and no telling how much higher the crane will be extended at that time.
  15. Does anyone know about how quick 505 is rising? 2-3 floors a month?
  16. All Topgolf's are pretty much the same build except for Las Vegas which is the Flagship location at over 100,000 sq ft and Nashville having an addition 7500 sq. ft music venue added instead of a gaming room for Xbox. These will be the only two were they actual tweaked the design from your basic Topgolf design. It will be another great addition to the entertainment for Nashville of things to do once completed.
  17. 1 down for retail. These to go. Armani or Armani Exchange, Chanel, Dolce, Fendi, Gucci, Max Mara, Miu Miu, Prada, Saint Laurent, Steve Madden, Versace or Versace Collection, and Zara.
  18. Guy's true story. I have read plenty of posts on here without responding on this subject about the fear of Nashville having height until seeing this. Years ago back I think maybe in 2006 when the proposal of the original signature tower had the rendering sitting on a table at a meeting and Tony G was explaining all the details of it. I think this was during the time that he had to get the approval from the FAA regarding height. On one of the local news channels I kid you not. There was this older lady that had to work for the MDHA or some group at that time that looked like she was about late 50's early 60's was talking with one of the news people on the evening news that said that if it was up to her. NO building, I mean absolutely NO building will ever exceed the Batman building. She wanted the Batman building to always remaining the tallest with it's uniqueness. It's somewhere on tape at one of the local news stations of her saying that. It has to be on archives somewhere back in I want to say from 2005-2007. I never forgot that comment was made at that time. So just think about all of the other mindsets on the MDHA with the fear of hot with people set in their ways on things. It sounds a little too harsh but some of those people have to retire or die off in order to have a different way of thinking on development in Nashville close to downtown.
  19. Clay Travis told a story a few years ago when he was on 104.5 the zone here and is now in LA on Fox Sports 1 with his own show about Nashville throwing Memphis a bone about the Grizz going there. At the time that Craig Leipold started the Predators and was the primary and first tenant of the arena. They were going to block anything and every franchise that was going to share the arena because they were afraid that Nashville and Middle Tennessee would embrace the NBA before a NHL team because of this being a non-traditional Hockey Town. That was always the story about the NBA not being here first. As far as Nashville not supporting 3 pro teams. I believe the city of Denver is the smallest city with the Rockies, Avalanche, Broncos, and Nuggets.
  20. According to parkworld-online as of 12-18-2015. Six Territories have been already licensed for the Polercoaster and the five cities considered are Atlanta, Nashville, Myrtle Beach, New York, and Atlantic City. The Orlando Polercoaster will stand at 501ft. The LA Polercoaster can't exceed 600ft due to traffic concerns and the height of the tower. I guess we all will here of something in the near future on this.
  21. If I am not mistaking. Music City Indoor Karts has a warehouse somewhere along the location of the scrap metal yard by Nissan Stadium. I could be wrong but when I was in town. I believe Delanie Walker for the Titans hosted a celebrity function there recently. So Andretti Karts would make two for the area if they decided to build on the east bank.
  22. The airline was actually American and the video was showing the plane taking off by an employee at BNA sitting on one of the side roads by the runway.
  23. A few years ago before I moved to Houston from Nashville. A United 777 made an emergency landing from Chicago heading to Miami were one of the Pilots became ill and they had to land the plane at BNA and dock for a few hours. They had to fly a pilot from Dallas to Nashville to continue the trip to Miami. The video is on youtube. Look under 777 at BNA and it will come up.
  24. Business is going really well at BNA bringing a United 747 in a few hours ago. There is one parked at one of the gates flown in from Sanfran earlier today.
  25. Good afternoon Guys. Does anyone know out of all these developments and renderings where Texas de Brazil will open? According to their website shows that it is coming soon to Nashville for all the meat lovers.
