  1. If the Silver were to not use Independence as transit planners have wanted to do now, the new Hawthorne bridge should be fine. The construction nightmare of a closed Hawthorne Lane will be ugh though, Pecan and 7th is congested as it is trying to reach Plaza Midwood.
  2. I don't think Charlotte is ready to have fare zones like in other cities. However, right now a single trip from 485 to UNCC with the current fare is a good deal.
  3. I guess that means Idlewild will be closed soon, NCDOT needs Conference Drive to open to allow the detour for Idlewild.
  4. If one has to drive to get to NoDa, one should just park at the Sugar Creek station, which is being build with a parking deck instead of a surface lot now, and just hop one station down. Also that's the closest park and ride station on the BLE. This scenario is really no different than those who park in one of the park and ride lots along South Blvd to avoiding paying for Uptown parking.
  5. ^^^Since you've mentioned the proximity to the Mallard Creek Ch, that would be a tricky merge area. I think the 3 lanes in each direction going through the interchange is a cost-saving measure. Remember, the original interchange, NCDOT had wanted it to be a stack interchange, but the lowest bid contract chose instead the turbine interchange b/c it would have saved about $50 millions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI9bQLGaxq4 Had the interchange been a stack, we probably would have seen a convoluted merging area with collector/distribution lanes like the I-77/I-485 stack in South Charlotte.
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8czDkgzpSco It's 3 lanes in each direction according to the visualization from NCDOT and the contractor, which I find it odd too.
  7. Oh is this the with the husband off the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Peter Thomas? I'm skeptical about it too besides what everyone on here are saying about the concept and location, Peter Thomas's other businesses have been known to fail just like his Atlanta venues.
  8. Sure, more revenue for the transit tax...
  9. There's already lane stripping for what seems to be a temporary lane shift onto the widened parts of inner 485 from Johnston to 77, maybe to allow room for the construction of the auxiliary lane.
  10. The S70s on our streetline will look sexy though, I believe the S70 version for streetcar lines all over will be shorter to accommodate a tighter turning radius. I was in a Atlanta a few weeks ago and I didn't know the part I was in was part of their streetcar line, some parts look stretchy, especially just west of the Downtown Connector on Auburn.
  11. I thought it was going to be a two lane flyover, but the lane markings is only for one lane, unless it's a just a temporary thing until the regular sections of I-485 finish up.
