  1. I like how the round building is still in the second rendering.
  2. Wow. After reading this I did a quick google search. Looks like Hollywood ousted a homeless shelter that they felt was an eyesore. City Commissioners said "hallelujah" that they're no longer in an area they're trying to redevelop. They bused 110 chronically homeless to Orlando. What a crapty way to address the homeless problem.
  3. Any indication if the central blvd proposal will go up to the corner where the 7-11 is? Or is it just to the right of the 7-11 building

    Uptown

That is a bit confusing. So if I'm going to nora from the suntrust building, I will have to go through the centroplex area before I get to uptown?
  5. Me too. My lease expires next summer. Do you know when they start leasing or any price information? The only thing that concerns me is there may be construction on two sides of the building by next year.
  6. I like this idea. It's seems like the City and downtown Facebook pages are always sharing articles about Orlando
  7. Swine and Sons officially opens today and Two Chefs Seafood and Oyster Bar opens in the North Quarter on Tuesday.

    SunRail

I'm curious to see the numbers for Sunrail tonight as Orlando City plays it's first weeknight game. It's at 7 and will be over by 9 so it should give plenty of time to get the train headed north at 1030. Doubt anyone going south can use the train though.
  9. We walked around the western portion. I'll have to check out the eastern portion next time. It seems the western portion should have more of an investment considering the retirement tower and apartments directly on the lake.
  10. Glad to see Ace coming along. In regards to the activity at Amelia and Concord, I believe I read somewhere that this was the staging area/offices for I4 ultimate project. I could be wrong though. Don't know why they're turning dirt though unless they plan on building a more permanent office rather than the trailers.
  11. I took the dog and walked around lake lucerne yesterday afternoon for the first time. From 55 West, it's about just as far (if not closer) than lake eola. However, there really isn't much to the park other than some good views of downtown. Is there any proposal to make this park nicer or add some sort of amenities? Especially with the proposed development, it would seem like this would be a necessity to bridging the gap between Sodo and downtown.
  12. I believe Tavastock filed a lawsuit against a Philadelphia company (apartment complex I believe) over the use of the name Lake Nona. There was an article in OBJ about this but I can't link since I'm on mobile.
  13. This hotel looks promising. Looks to fit the area quite well. I'm hoping for another high end restaurant in that space. We've got plenty of fast casual/casual restaurants. We need more fine dining especially with the new crowd coming downtown.
  14. Langford park is good but I think the sketchiness factor is a huge deterrent. My fiancé and I take the dog there when we go over to Dickson but other than an occasional jogger and maybe some kids playing basketball, we are the only non-homeless individuals there. That's a huge deterrent. I doubt that either her or myself would ever take the dog there alone. If you want to attract south eola residents to come jog, walk their dog, etc. then you've got to ensure safety and clean up the image
  15. I can see both sides. To be fair, I live downtown and have a dog but have used that park less than ten times. And everytime we are out there, we are usually the only ones. Never more than a couple of people. It's also never used for events. That being said, there's not much green space downtown and with all this development, we will certainly need it. Especially considering how many downtown residents are also dog owners. I believe I read something and the grassy area by the County building on Rosalind becoming a sculpture garden. That green space also has a lot of potential. There is a small garden on the space that is quite nice. This would aso make a great space for a community garden. Constitution Green has a ton of potential too. What a great space that would be if we added a small fenced area for dogs, some benches, some sort of water feature and perhaps a community garden.
  16. Just seems like there's plenty of other spaces in the area that should be developed first. Sucks to be destroying a park to keep a parking lot.
  17. There's been a lot going on lately. They've been working on the side of Fergs for a couple weeks now. Graffiti Junction looks like it's about done and I could see it opening within the next month or so. Title Boxing Club also has their signage up but I'm not sure if they're open yet. Now we need to fill the old Urban Flats space (flagship red lobster?)
  18. I can't wait to see these renderings. Any hints?
  19. Drove by the Citrus Bowl yesterday. It looks great. Should be rocking come Sunday.
  20. I think they'll be successful if they can keep rent under $600 or so. I like the idea of limiting parking but including memberships to bike share and car share.
  21. I agree with the express bus. The only possible stop I could envision would be Baldwin park/fashion square. Other than that, there's nothing unless you make the route go through winter park. They run shuttles between the main campus and the Rosen school of hospitality (and I'd imagine the med school). A similar model is probably best. The only problem is the amount of busses needed to potentially shuttle upwards of 15k students.
  22. So they limit how much you can drink? That is insane.
  23. I walked by the old Zilly Bee on Pine and magnolia yesterday and noticed the signage for Golden Knife Chop House is up and there were two people sitting outside having a drink. Haven't heard any mention of this except a passing remark in a weekly article. Anyone heard anything else?
  24. Damn. I was looking forward to this one. Hopefully something else comes along soon.
