  1. 1.) Sure it's been going on for years, but I'm telling you it will not last much longer. It's like ]China, boom for now, bust for later. 2.) Do you read the advocate? For the past week they have been working to find a solution 3.) Never said that 4.) Yes I know the industry follows the money, but ,they are still in Canada and as far as I know North Carolina never became the world capital. The key is that we need to be smart and keep them here. The big thing this state lacks is smart people, if we had smart people in office then St. George would have been annexed years ago and our schools would not be the sh!t holes that they are. I'm hoping that this whole thing will fix our schools and keep business/people here, TBH I would rather our schools and such to be fixed before everything downtown...but they never asked me.
  2. IMO Livingston is just experiencing a little boom...it won't last long once their schools go to sh!t. However based on recent activity in the capitol it looks like lawakers are trying to solve the education problem once and for all. In theory, if these plans go through, St. George fails (and is annexed, you know the Kip will find a way to annex it all), vastly improves the schools, keeps crime low, and starts putting more money towards infrastructure. This entire experience will be very positive for the city. Granted that's a lot of "if's", but I think film is about to start playing a bigger role in the cities politics than ever.
  3. And to back my claims further this was in the advocate this morning. St. George is over... COUNCILMAN: DEAL IN WORKS TO ANNEX MALL PROPERTY:http://theadvocate.com/home/8932913-125/councilman-deal-in-works-to
  4. It shows that more businesses want to be in the city, no matter what you think it's bad for St. George. Next I was saying that a St. George school system will happen, regardless of the vote.
  5. And with all this big businesses wanting to be annexed it will be hard for St. George to survive. Even further it's harder to control a city when little pockets of it are not even in that city. I think the St. George schools will survive, with all the cuts coming to EBR I hoping we get a charter system. Whether St. George survives or not the legacy it will leave is important, it made people wake up and realize that many things need to be changed, if they are it will only result in positive things for the city: better schools = more people = more culture = more attraction = more business
  6. Big News Today: EBR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER RANDY LAMANA HAS DIED: Advocate; http://theadvocate.com/home/8931794-125/ebr-school-board-member-randy COSTCO, CELTIC, AND SAIF CREDIT UNION TO BE ANNEXED APRIL 23rd: Advocate; http://theadvocate.com/home/8932913-125/three-businesses-apply-for-annexation
  7. If they do, I will be so happy!
  8. What ever the hours are, it's still nice to see businesses filling up downtown.
  9. Well things are starting to go down hill for this
  10. Four New Walking Paths to be added Downtown: http://blogs.theadvocate.com/cityhallbuzz/2014/04/01/walking-paths-planned-for-downtown-baton-rouge/
  11. Gosh this is the strangest lot of weather I have ever experienced in Louisiana!
  12. I think I'm even more happy about the new shelters! Things are finally looking up for our transit system, however I'm not too fond of the new logo.
  13. Well I must give it to cats, it looks like their giving effort! @itsjustme3 I live close to that area and I sure as heck would use the bus. The problem was it's location, with a Town Center hub I can actually use the system. And sure maybe not all of Town Centers customers will use the bus I'm expecting them to have a few more people.
  14. I think the huge fault of Cats is it's main terminals location. Why would you put in a place that no one goes to? FAIL. I would say they need one terminal downtown, one in the Mall of LA area, and one by Town Center. Seems like it could get the most use in those areas. Sadly our city lacks smart urban planners and good politicians.
  15. The point is that Mall of LA succeeded because it was close to the main population centers of the city, and easy to access.
  16. I think what he is saying is that the area in general is dangerous for anyone, but it was not always that way to my understanding. @garrett ask anyone who lived during the fall of Cortanta and Bon Marche and they will tell you it was the inter-state connection. The Mall of LA was built with close proximity to I10 and so it was an easier mall to access then Cortana and Bon Marche for the majority of BR shoppers. Plus Florida was starting to get more dangerous around that time as well. So while many factors did contribute to the decline of those malls the main virus was the lack of easy inner-state connection. Same thing I have been saying all along.
  17. Okay so BR not getting involved in larger projects is a prank? Are you so set in your ways and mind set that you do not realize what BR is becoming. You love to mention how I'm over-optimistic, in reality you are oblivious to the huge things that are happening around you. Or do you just enjoy egging me on to fight because I'm the only one here that gives you the light of day, or because you think I'm easy to make fun of. Well answer this question for me, how is any city expected to grow or change if people do not look or seek ways to make it better, to question is to grow, and with out that or trying to make the city better; nothing will change. Wake up and smell the roses, BR is not even close to what it was ten years ago and ten years from now it will not be recognizable to today, the worlds changing out there, but your missing it because your stuck in your troll cave. Sorry to everyone else, just had to get that off my chest.
  18. I do, I have used it before. Even then it's still not idea.
  19. Looking on google maps there is not connection to the interstate for Florida Blvd. The only connection is on Airline. Still not ideal for the area and it still is not a direct connection.
  20. I wonder what else we could do to "open up to the World", maybe some museums and parks, possibly a stadium for a big futbol league. Speaking of that wasn't David Beckham trying to make soccer/futbol popular here in the states by starting a national league? Maybe BR could get in on that.
  21. That's awesome! Government street is finally getting some much needed attention! All though this is going to make commute between Catholic and home a pain in the arse for the next two or three years.
  22. Really? That explains why Cortana and Bon Marche never went bankrupt. Florida is not connected well and does not have a connection that would be ideal to spurring some type of re-development.
