  1. The first theater show I was in was The Little Mermaid in 2006 by Playmakers. It was all in the Shaw Center and I'm honestly surprised it's already been ten years since its construction.
  2. Yeah I can't wait to see your face when the IOC president say's, "The International Olympic Committee awards the honor of hosting the 35th Olympiad in 2032 to the city of...Baton Rouge.". All you are is a troll that I will crush!
  3. Oh, okay, that makes sense.
  4. The CitiPlace one is inside B&N. It's known as the B&N Cafe, but it's sponsored by Starbucks.
  5. Stop being such a negative nancy...gosh. Does not matter how expensive the homes are, just be happy it's actually being built.
  6. New life planned for damaged structures on Spanish Town Road: http://theadvocate.com/home/9002247-125/new-life-planned-for-damaged Nice to see some restoration projects happening here, hopefully this will trigger more interest in this area.
  7. Yes, for the sake of development I would. That's how much I care about downtown development, I would let a company rip me off so Baton Rouge could become a bigger city.
  8. should we let blocks sit in the heart of downtown undeveloped and rotting away?
  9. I guess so, right now I'm just bogged down by my other classes and extracurricular activities.
  10. Oh thanks I forgot about those...I think a few more top notch anchors are all Downtown needs. After that just let it go and grow into something of it's own. Sorry, I just could not help myself. Something like that, maybe selling blocks downtown for cut prices to make it very affordable to build there.
  11. So no gifs? They make everything more...how should we say...entertaining.
  12. I know that we can't I'm just saying we need to create some type of tax cut that tempts companies or 'anchors' to come downtown. From something to small to something larger, we need 'anchors' that create a reason to be there, if we don't have more 'anchors' downtown then it will be filled with empty apartments. Anchors to me are companies, shops, groups, theaters, or the likes that generate strong interest in a specific region.
  13. I agree, if anything the more dense areas in the city will see some type of biking to work. Personally I would not ever ride my bike to work in the city, even with these 'improvements' I would rather drive or take public transportation.
  14. Well we also have to remember that the state has shelled out millions to get them here, so for tax payers sake I hope that IBM is the catalyst they hopped for.
  15. What I meant is I am scared that we over-build with the expectation that IBM will create massive interest in living downtown, then this expectation is not fulfilled and Downtown has a bunch of empty apartments that eventually shutter and bring us back to square one. We need to start getting more companies downtown, not hotels and apartments.
  16. That's what I'm scared about. I'm scared that the IBM news is being taken too far and Downtown is going to suffer.
  17. I was about to ask if people thought the Catfish Town development would have survived today, anyways this is exciting! Hoping for a high-rise!
  18. Yes, but this Louisiana, the money does not stop until someone gets arrested.
  19. Really? Look I have read some of your comments from years before I joined and you seem like a pretty cool guy. May main problem is why do you consistently say i have no idea about what I'm talking about? You asked me for proof of lawmakers trying to fix the schools, read the advocate it's all there. Next you mentioned the whole film industry thing, well the states industry has been growing since 2002. Now it's going faster and is showing no signs of stopping, at this point we are in direct competition and war with California. The last thing I talked about was how we needed more sensible people in government, we have lacked them for a while and it's getting old. So many of the problems we face now could have been avoided years ago. Now our politicians need to be smart and correct those mistakes be doing the following: 1.) More incentives to get more film out here 2.) Fixing of our school system in the city 3.) Improving state-wide infrastructure 4.) Working on increasing state industries (agriculture mainly) With those four improvements a lot of change would be visible in the state and city. There did that make sense?
  20. So now Louisiana is turning out to be the leading place for relocation?
