Considering this will be on the proposed AMP route and right across from the new Edley's, Fat Bottom Brewery, etc...and pretty near Five Points (not to me tion near downtown obviously) I have high hopes for this as well and Main Street in general.

Yes and there's some dump truck activity as well...looks like they have done some minor digging in the greenspace that fronts Hermitage Ave.

Spotted a crane behind the large smokestack this morning.

Neat old building with original hardwoods and great original interior bricking. It didn't appear the tenant at the time put a lot of money in renovation, they probably knew it was living on borrowed time...

The Mexican Restaurant at the old Sine building near 5points is the same management from Las Fiestas in Inglewood, people in East Nashville will love it.
Also, The Hop Stop is also under construction at the former Red Dog Scooters location at the corner of Gallatin Rd and Trinity Ln, this is the same management as the Village Pub over on Riverside Village
Huh, I heard same people as Las Maracas...looking forward to the Hop Stop. That little spot on Gallatin Road around Trinity Lane and Litton Ave has been particularly gritty in the past...they just installed a police camera with the flashing blue light...good to see small businesses like Pepperfire, B Side Salon, Logue's Black Raven Emporium, and now The Hop Stop venture forward...

Zoo plans $130M expansion for African exhibit
http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/print-edition/2013/07/05/scorecard-zoo-plans-130-million.html
Although the zoo has improved steadily over the last decade, it still seems behind a lot of it's peer city counterparts...This is great to see and I think a good indication of the health and prosperity of the city ("...the zoo had a record year in 2012, with 778,000 visitors..."). My wife and I bought season passes this year...

I had seen where the owner had it listed. I always thought that little complex had a lot of potential. Can't wait to see the end results.

Well the building is still there and you can't buy beer/water/aspirin/cigarettes so it seems like a loss. I don't remember the CB Ragland signage being as prominent as it is now (though maybe it always has been) so maybe lease just ran out.
Judging from the beer prices at the Turnip Truck-Gulch last time I visited, this was the only location in Nashville that actually might have needed a discount beer and cigarettes store.

Nice...I like how a city block magically springs up from that used car lot next to Marche...

Massive Cool Springs East project is on hold until sewer is figured out.
"Bel Air Providence"? ...I just threw up a little bit in my mouth...can they at least attempt to make some kind of local connection of the development with the land/area? What I'm really looking forward to is Rancho Sante Fe Indian Lake...
"Guerrero believes the system could not adequately serve Bel Air Providence and that restaurants, retailers, corporate office users, apartment developers and homeowners would not invest in a development served by septic tanks."
Ya think? Sounds like this guy is just a tad bit patronizing...

As long as they don't make it uber expensive/exclusive, that should be a wonderful asset for the neighborhood.
Dave and Busters with 15$ cocktails...

Looks like the apts/condos at 909 Main Street are a go now. Can't help to think Fat Bottom and the completion of the new Edleys helped put some wind back into that sail. Have to agree with Adam Leibowitz that the placement of this developement and the new restaurant/retail across the street about halfway down Main will help spur additional activity for the corridor...Developer sets late-summer start for East Nashville project
Ground is slated to be broken by late summer on East Side Apartments, to be located at 909 Main St. in East Nashville.
The approximately $7.4 million development, which was announced in late 2012, will feature both a four-story building and for-rent townhomes with their own garages. It will offer 71 units.
Adam Leibowitz, who leads a group of silent investors that created East Side Development Partners LLC for the project, said East Side Apartments (read more here) has remained viable despite rumblings from some that the project had been scrapped.
“After about a six-month delay working through cost constraints, we’re in the process of finalizing our plans and anticipate breaking ground by late summer,” Leibowitz said.
Leibowitz said “site conditions” contributed to the delay. He declined to offer specifics.
“Development takes a long time,” he said. “That’s the nature of this business."

Actually, to clarify, I believe Inglewood (North/proper whatever) starts at McGavock Pike, so technically only the businesses in Riverside Village on the North side of McGavock are in Inglewood, while Mitchell's, Sip, Village Pub, Wantanabe are actually in South Inglewood. Thanks for the invite smeagolsfree, but I work weird hours and will be sleeping during that time. I will definitly try to come to the next meeting on any days I'm off. I'll probably just sit quite in a corner and try to learn something.
I love what is going on all over Nashville, to finally see the city start to realize it's potential. And although the eastside doesn't have the flashy new builds like other areas of town, there is a lot of neat infill going on and I think Shelby Park is a really underrated greenspace and will only get better with the Cornelia Fort addition.

<p>Hello,</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Long time reader, first time poster. Used to post occasionally on the old Nashville Charrette website. Anyway, I live where South Inglewood begins, just North of Douglas on the East side of Gallatin Road, and while there has been some steady developement since the economy went south, it's now just starting to really pick-up in the area. There been quite a bit of activity on Cahal (for better or possibly worse, as discussed on here), I just heard that Woodland Street Partners is trying to buy a bunch of houses on Chester (East side of Gallatin Road), so look for something to start happening there. There have been some houses on Straightway Ave, near Gallatin Road, being rehabbed into higher end rentals and also a new custom home being built that the asking price is going to be $300k+...I'm not as familiar with the west side of Gallatin Road/parallel, but to let you know, it is starting to heat up on the East side. Can't help it won't be pushing out to your area soon. The housing stock changes a bit when you cross Douglas into Straightway, into more post war cottages and small ranch style houses. But there is also no historical zoning in the area, so when the chips fall, I think you will see a lot of development (some good, some probably bad) go down in a hurry.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>On a another note, I have heard through the grapevine that someone has just bought the Howe Garden Apts on Greenwood (Eastwood Neighbors). So look for those to possibly be rehabbed soon. If you look at the crime maps you will see that a significant amount of "issues" arose from that area in the past. It's a fantastic location. Hate to sound like the big bad gentrifier, but only good can come from that transaction. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Oh and the area where Riverside Village is South Inglewood, not Inglewood proper. They may be trying to claim it now though...</p>

Oh yeah. Wonder why they are opting out of retail as well...especially with the new businesses cropping up around there. Oh well, just it's visual presence should help Main Street out and the perception of East Nashville to the general public.
