  1. I agree, when I went down to Atlanta on MegaBus it helped that MARTA was the stop. It made the transition so easy.
  2. Stop adding lanes for cars! If any lanes are added make them bus lane only. Atlanta did the same thing, it just never ends.
  3. A new video under Omni Nashville Hotel that shows great detail inside and out. Even new night shots.
  4. I agree, Charlotte Pike and Main street in east Nashville should be work force housing right up on the street with coffee shops, bars, and retail for long blocks at a time to form the wall of a intown vibe.
  5. The glass is going in on the fourth floor windows, it's a very nice green tint like the Icon but a little darker.
  6. I was at this meeting. Jim McAteer and his team were over-whelmed by a small percentage of very condescending naysayers. They barked things like " you are lying about the number of people that will use the BRT" and just out of the blue things like" this will never work". It was very uncomfortable. At the next meeting his team needs to be ready for more detailed questions about every aspect of the project like, left turns, park and ride, sidewalks, where the stops would be, how long will it take, and on and on. My gut feeling is that the problem will be from 440 to whitebridge road, They are less likely to use the service and see it as in the way of car traffic. If you are supportive of the BRT I would suggest being at the meetings to help push this along, otherwise the folks that are not going to use it anyway will win. This is a great opportunity to make Nashville a easier place to get around. Y'all go to the meetings!
  7. My understanding is that risk management at CHS will be moving to the building behind CHS in the fall. Im not sure the name of the building but it is lit with blue lights at night. Also, Wayne Smith said he did'nt want to pay the rent on the new building next door. I think he could be persuaded to move into one bigger space one day.
  8. Does anyone know what the height of the new Hilton Garden Inn @ 3 ave. south will be. The lot size is very small for a 200 room hotel especially with parking included. I hope we get a little bump up at the bottom of rolling mill hill!
  9. I love the land bridge idea. That is what is missing in the gulch area, a park for a walk with a dog or a meeting place for folks in midtown. East Nashville has shelby park, sobro has riverfront park, west end has centennial park, and Germantown has bicentennial park. The push should start for this green space by the development team of the gulch.
  10. The East-West BRT is one of the best cases for build it and they will come. Along with the sold out LP field,Bridgestone arena in the top 10 in the country,Top venue picked by both artist and concert goers Ryam auditorium, and now the music city center with above projected bookings shows that in Nashville more than not we build and they do come!
  11. A loss is a gain for all of the hospitality businesses that will be coming to Nashville. Music city center, Omini Hotel, the new water park, and all of the new hotels that will be built in the next couple of years. With over 3 billion dollars in tourist business in Nashville I believe any loss of jobs from Gaylord either front office or house keeping will find a place here in town.
  12. Crane is up for the Bristol project in Brentwood. The apartments are a nice bridge between a large shopping center and the "downtown Brentwood" area. As a side note, the old Murray office building that was purchased by the Hill company and the large Baptist property next door should be a great opportunity for high density in that part of Brentwood.
  13. The East-West BRT with dedicated lanes will be built and after a year or two the other pikes will be transformed over to the same system. Nashville will use this for weekday commuting and weekend cafe, parks and bar hopping. Once the city is a organized maze of busses, trains and greenways the Franklin, Murfreesboro, and Clarksville commuter rail will be built with a train station somewhere in the Gulch. It just takes time to sell mass transit, it starts with what works well and is affordable. Look, I like the rest of you know what we needed 10 years ago but, it is what it is. Nashville is very slow and steady. We wil probability never be a cutting edge city for transportation but in time it will be what we need.
  14. Three things I would like to say about OneCity Nashville. If we are going to compete with coolsprings with this kind of project we have to understand that not everybody wants to work in a sleek highrise. Some want that park like feel to the work enviroment. Also once the 28th street corridor is complete and the planned BRT running from TSU to Belmomt is in place it will be another great stop along the university line to live, work, or play. But, I agree with the design being cutting edge and the highest Leed certified property possible.
  15. I also agree. Any city outside of New York and LA would give about anything to have show filmed in the city, but also to be the name of the primetime show! Priceless!
