  1. The Zara is most likely staying in the lifestyle area. There is a new building under construction in the empty space next to the H&M and the ads on the construction fence surrounding the site are of the American Girl and Zara.
  2. Downtown Winter Park has done a great job in clearly directing where all parking areas are, and we see how successful the area has been through so many years.
  3. It might have been posted already, but does anyone know what is being constructed at the southern corner of Conroy Rd. and Vineland Rd. right next to the I-4 westbound entrance entrance ramp in the Millenia area?
  4. This would be on the empty lot of the northeast corner of Parramore Ave and Church St? Cause this would be some nice streetwall action with the Soccer Stadium, City View, Amway Center and the Magic Entertainment Complex.
  5. I realized how great downtown DeLand was during the DeLand music festival. Very historic, pretty large, lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Very underrated. I enjoyed it so much, a true old Florida feel. If the DeLand SunRail station was actually a bit closer to the downtown, the wonders would have been endless. Reading that pole makes me realize Metro Orlando probably has one of the largest and best collection of vibrant downtowns and Main street districts in the state. Miami-Dade has also done a good job in growing and preserving a lot of theirs as well. It is definitely between these two for Florida.
  6. There are Macy's Home Furnishings stores in malls. Dadeland Mall and Aventura Mall in Miami have Home Furnishings combined with their Men's department in what were their old Burdines buildings, since there were already Macy's in each of those malls when the acquisition of Burdines took place. Another example off the top of my head is the enormous South Coast Plaza in Orange County, California.
  7. Florida Mall and Millenia are just too close to each other, in my opinion. I'm surprised the malls each do relatively well. Certain stores in Florida Mall do better than some of the same stores in Millenia and vice versa. They each have aggressive marketing here and internationally. If Florida Mall does some changes in the layout of parking, flow and landscaping, they should be fine because Millenia is essentially an island in a not-so-desirable area just like Florida Mall. Millennia just doesn't have the long history, baggage and stigma Florida Mall has had over the years. Florida should just capitalize in the mid to just under high end inventory with Millenia's aggressive push to keeping a complete high-end selection and eventually the two mall can complement each other, which they almost do. We see the the same thing all throughout South Florida, where there are numerous malls in such a small area, yet most of them complement each other in a way each offering the basics as well as something others do not have. In an ideal world, I think a high-end mall in the south end of the metro (Millenia now) and one in the north end (possibly Lake Mary area or even Altamonte Mall) would have done well with a shopping district downtown, balancing each in a way avoiding a saturation of the market (I'll keep dreaming). Anyway, kudos to both Florida Mall and Millenia though. Their competitiveness has brought us many stores we never dreamt of having in Orlando even a few years ago, and have managed to surprise us as well as the retail industry.
  8. If one of those anchor store at The Florida Mall (Saks or Nordstrom) leave, they should should consider converting one of them to a Macy's Mens and Home Furnishings store, since the only specialized Macy's Home Furnishings in the Orlando are is in Altamonte Springs, I believe.
  9. They even put the 4 story building. The article should have been more on the street dynamic changing and infill developments.
  10. The older plaza on the ssouthwest corner with the LA Fitness? I don't venture that area too often.
  11. So, I am pretty sure this if for Ravaudage based on earlier articles. It mentions Lee Road and 17-92. If this is the case, Whole Foods is a pretty nice tenant to have for this overall project. http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/blog/2013/10/exclusive-winter-park-set-to-consider.html?page=all
  12. Well, the V group has been successful so far in the establishments they have.
  13. I can't wait until the second phase begins construction. This is already a massive structure.
  14. Over 20,000 people went to the game!!! WOOO
  15. Since Neiman Marcus isn't going in I really hope it's a Bloomingdale's Outlet Store. I went to the one in the Dolphin Mall Miami and it was actually pretty nice. I also heard rumors of a Tom Ford store coming to the outlets. The Apple store just opened this week in the old Pottery Barn space, it has much higher ceilings which makes a huge difference when it is very busy, it doesn't feel as overwhelming. The Apple space is now being split into a new Bose store, and a new Aldo, and I believe the old White House Black Market space will be a Polaroid "Fotobar". Build-a-Bear workshop is remodeling. The Sony store must have opened recently, it is really nice inside. Microsoft is taking over the old Express Men's location. And when did the Pinkberry close???
  16. I've heard rumors that Florida Mall is going through a gradual renovation soon, and that they have asked the individual anchor stores to update their exteriors. I don't have a link to confirm this, however. They might be putting it off since it gets downright crazy this time of the year. Millenia should expand though to bring in and accommodate more stores or anchors wanting to come in, and for stores in the mall wanting to expand to add more collections, and a hotel perhaps. Like a W with a nice lounge/restaurant connecting to the mall or something along those lines. (I'll continue dreaming)
  17. Now that I look at it more, the parking and traffic situation could be problematic.
  18. Wow, Winter Park continues to transform even more into a food destination for the area.
  19. Courtesy better not be!! They are much needed in the art of mixology amongst all the other crappy dive bars in the vicinity!

    SunRail

I'm guessing a a train stop on campus wouldn't be the only train stop along the entire line.

I think a rail stop right on campus, where the lynx stop and many UCF shuttles stop would be an ideal location, it can serve as a terminus for a line or two. On google maps it shows up as "UCF/LYNX Transit Center."
  22. It may have been mentioned here by now, but does anyone have any idea of what is getting built on on the northeast corner of 17-92 and Sybelia Ave? I saw walls of a decent sized building going up driving past this area last night. Any info would be great.
  23. THIS!! Most, if not all, of the major shopping centers (at least ventured by tourists) have gone upscale or are on the route to becoming more upscale. Even parts of International Drive will move towards this end of the spectrum. (I-Drive Live, and the rumored Planet Hollywood Hotel). This is exciting stuff!! I mean, the parking garages alone have me excited, and seeing Disney going through this route officially shows the shift, Even though they are one of the last to get in the movement.
  24. Yea, Zara is definitely the most shocking of this entire transition. The store could have used a different layout/design though, the Florida Mall Zara is smaller yet has a better selection and better interior design and is always busy, which isn't a bad thing. It's interesting because the second level of the Florida Mall XXI was actually supposed to be the second level to the Zara (that would've been heaven!), I guess they didn't anticipate the success it is now when they did that last minute change.
  25. I don't see how these outlets can add new stores and not add the adequate parking necessary. Not having that additional parking structure is going to be a disaster since it is already difficult to find parking throughout most of the year and customers and employees have had their vehicles towed for parking at the plazas across Vineland. SMH! It would've been a nice addition
