  2. Or the Fred Griffith of West Charlotte...complete w plans for a QuikTrip.
  3. What's with the chain link fence on both sides of The Thirsty Beaver?
  4. Ark Ventures to renovate West Morehead building The Morehead building sits on 1.4 acres and has more than 100 surface parking spots, and some of the spaces have roll-up garage doors as well. ... http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/real_estate/2013/05/ark-ventures-to-renovate-west-morehead.html
  5. FMW is the area covering West Morehead and Freedom Drive. So it includes the neighborhoods of Ashley Park, Camp Greene, Enderly Park, Thomasboro and Wesley Heights.
  6. Great list, but...Pinky's is in Wesley Heights, not Uptown...have to give us our due.
  7. No photo, but there's top soil going down too...
  8. When will USAir & American begin to operate as a single company? And are flights booked via USAir (for next spring) subject to change because of the merger? Have a direct flight booked that I hope doesn't disappear as part of the merger.
  9. Work of some sort is going on inside the old Therapy spot.
  10. Friday nights are for Fun, Food, Friends and Exercise….right? So, spend Friday night, April 12, 2013 with us at the First Annual FreeMoreWest 5K on the Greenway. Enjoy the beautiful greenway on a spring night through one of Charlotte’s most exciting renewed neighborhoods. After the race enjoy the music and grab a bite and a brew at one of our food and beer trucks! 5K - 6:00 PM Start on Woodruff Drive Kids’ Fun Run - 6:15 PM Start at the park at Woodruff & Freedom http://freemorewest.com/5K/
  11. Anyone know what Ryan Homes has 'planned' for the piece of land they own on Berryhill Rd/Fleetwood Dr/Evergreen Dr?
  12. Those buildings are ~3 feet below the flood plain, so basically unusable in their current location. Wonder of they could raise them up and keep them...with more rental income to Fred Griffin and family as incentive not to knock them down?
  13. From what others have posted here, if QT tries their standard design/layout it will have to get a zoning variance. And in order to get that variance there would need to be a public meeting...and some local councilmember(s) are already opposed to it. Best outcome for tomorrow is for QT realize they are in for a fight they dont want to undertake. I think all UP posters should reach out Mike at QT.
  14. With no Hourly Decks at CLT...where does one park now if picking someone up? At the (newish) Daily Decks and ride the bus? Or is there another option?
  15. The construction fence has been down and the gate opened the last few times I've driven by. So maybe something is afoot...or the fence is just down and the gate left open.
  16. If gas stations are allowed in the PED Overlay, why would a rezoining be needed?
  17. Nope, right smack in the middle of it (pie-shaped piece at Morehead and Freedom)...so I'll ask again...how is that possible?
  18. I'm guessing it will be the same size as the new ones on Woodlawn and 74 in Indian Trail. Both have 10+ pumps and a sea of parking.
  19. Next week's Wesley Heights Community Association meeting will discuss a MASSIVE new QuikTrip gas station / convenience store at the intersection of Morehead and Freedom (directly behind Pinky's). I've heard the lot is 3+ acres w/ more than 2.5 of it being store/pumps/parking/etc. Will also result in the the older buildings along Morehead being torn down and the site being built up to grade. Is something like this possible given the West Morehead PED Overlay?
  20. A welcome addition to the neighborhood, but wonder what it means for Pinky's (overflow) parking?
  21. OT question for those in the know...if a competitor of USAir offers a similar flight (same destination, just different connection), but at a significant discount...is there any way to get USAir come down on their price? 2 competitors are 20% less per ticket... Or almost $550 for a family of 4.
  22. The SmartPhone Medic place worked out well. Half the price of the Apple Store (199 vs 99 for 4S, although w Apple you get a whole new phone, not just replacement glass) and fixed w/i an hour or so. Of course, being in the Overstreet, they were not open on the weekend.
  23. Anyone have recomendations near Uptown for an iPhone repair? Need to replace a shattered screen. And what's the ballpark on price?
  24. The Trolley folks at Atherton Market talk as if this is still a go, and someone (city, NS, etc) has been out surveying the greenway so the tracks can be unearthed, but otherwise not much movement as far as I can tell. Also, the Hans Krug showroom appears to be open (in between Picante and The Burger Company), although I never see anyone in there.
  25. Apartments, but higher end units that could be converted in the long term. I think they are planning 33 units +/- . Over half the units will be studios; they are targeting young professionals and college students. Seems like a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
