  1. We used to have trolleys and vans that made that loop only they went down West street to the Library and then to the square. They were empty most of the time and were nick named Hannah's folleys!
  2. Does anyone know what's going on at the old sale barn location? It's been fenced, the barn is gone and they're moving alot of dirt.
  3. I worked on the square 10 or 12 years ago when the city bought bus type trolleys like the ones up in Eureka. There were two of them that ran from the courthouse down Dickson across West street and back around the square. The longest you ever had to wait on one to come by was 10-15 minutes. They were almost always empty! I wonder what the ridership is on the new weekend shuttle from the square to Dickson Street. I've also noticed this trend for the trolleys in Little Rock. They go round and round and with the exception of a few tourist they're empty. Maybe once the population grows to the point that parking becomes a nightmare or when gas prices go up to $5 or $6 a gallon it will become a more attractive option.
  4. Like all tax dollars, there are never enough to go around and since the squeaky wheel gets the grease, we in NWA need to make more noise! The corporate farms in SEAr and companies like Riceland Food have some very loud voices in both LR and Washington! (If you don't believe it just look at the $320 million ditch and ten foot pipe the Corps of Engineers is trying to build them so they can steal water from the White river.) What they want to do is four lane 82 from the bridge to El Dorado and eventually make a four lane corridor from Dallas to Atlanta. I can't help but think if Wal-mart, Tyson and JBHunt all thought the Bella Vista bypass was a priority we would have seen movement on it already.
  5. I hope you don't mind me putting my two cents worth in here, but the new bridge was Trent Lotts baby! He was Majority and then Minority Whip and therefore could direct pork to his state. I don't think Arkansas had much to say about it. Any way the good folks in Mississippi want the folks of southeast Arkansas to have an enjoyable and safe trip to the casinos.
  6. I agree with you 100%! Most of the theaters on Broadway range anywhere from 500 to 2000 seats! The differance is in ticket price. When I saw South Pacific in NY the tickets started at $75, here because of the Waltons and P&G subsidising the cost, tickets started at $40.
