  1. I agree that the corner is really hard to access. Is there anyone in the large office building behind the existing center? Maybe it will be torn down too and that would make the corner a little more accessable? Seems to be a shame that the busiest intersection in Fayetteville would not have something of significant appeal on one of it's corners. On another note, anything going on with the old hooters building? That place is a mess. I totally agree about mission and crossover. Chili's, Applebees or CHEDDARS (Fort Smith and Joplin have one FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!) would do great there. It would be nice to see huntsville Rd and Crossver have some additional retail/food as well...
  2. It looks like there is something happening on the SE corner of College and Joyce in the old COLONY building. Anyone know what's happening there? I also heard that they are going to be doing some work on the NE corner of Joyce and College, anyone have the skinny on what the city is planning for this area? It looks like most of the businesses in that area have closed up. Are they going to do a teardown?
  3. I think that Rogers is doing the best at handling growth. There is a lot of new development there, and it seems that the traffic is not too horrible. It seems easy enough to get from one major area of town to another. I don't spend a lot of time in Benton County, but it seems that they have a better hold on the planning for sprawl. Fayettevile seems to always be one step behind. They try to fix a problem instead of prevent it in the first place. Springdale is the worst by far. Thompson is always a nightmare and 412 is as bad as a train wreck. Don Tyson is a great idea that should have been done years ago. Honestly, from a traffic flow standpoint, the planning around all of NWA really baffles me. We came from a city with 1M people and the traffic was not nearly as bad. The cities were laid out in a grid, and the roads were all at least 4 lanes in each direction. Every intersection had at least 4 main lanes and 4 turn lanes (two in each direction). The city was ugly, but effective. NWA is such a pretty place, and I really like driving though greenspace to get from one place to another, but the meandering two lane roads are not good for traffic. I hope that all the city planners can grow the city but keep the natural state charm.
  4. I've seen some work being done at the old Aldi location on college. Does anyone know what is going on there? also, it appears that Posta Plata on Mall ave has closed...
  5. Not Fayetteville, but I don't know where to post. West Fork news. It was just released that we will be getting a Harps in the town of West Fork. The article also mentioned something about a "big bix retailer" buying 5 acres in town as well. I was just wondering if any of you "in the know" might be able to find out who this big box retailer might be? Thanks!
  6. it looks like an Acadamy sporting goods store is going in behind the chick-fil-a off the pleasant grove exit. There is also some construction work behind the wal-mart in that same exit. Anyone know what is going in there?
  7. do you think it's because there is more city action in LR? Definitely more jobs down that way...
  8. I have been through there once. When we were moving out here. It was a sight for sore eyes. At that point in the trip, I was wondering if I were ever going to see another human again. It seemed like a nice place. I am sure there is a bad side to town, but the area's we visited were really nice... Welcome back, hope your trip was good
  9. Sequoia Payroll Just joined today, but have been lurking a while...
  10. Hi everyone, I found this site a few months ago, and I just now joined. I would have done it sooner but my PC died. I am an accountant by day and I have been in NWA for about 4.5 years now. I love the area, and I love those HOGS! I am from central California originally, and it would be a sad day if I had to ever move back there. It was nice to see the food forum, and it was nice to finally find out what is going in the old razorback theater. I have a question, is there a section anywhere for small business owners? It would be nice to rub elbows with other local small business owners from this area... I look forward to learning more about our area here, and hopefully I will be able to contribute something back to the forums...
