Occasionally pursue through Purseforum and a thread from that site claim that Hermes was closing at SouthPark by the end of the year (according to one of the sales associates). I do not know the validity of said claim but I would certainly hope this isn't the case. That'd be a huge blow for the mall.

The majority of the tenant roster of Buckhead Atlanta are first-to-market retailers, the developers of the project have spent years trying to entice national and international retailers to invest in the Atlanta markets. Retail occupancy stood at 75%-80% as of a few months ago according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, so we should expect more announcements in the coming weeks. The only existing stores that are said to be relocating are L'Occitane and Jimmy Choo. I'm not worried about the future of Lenox/Phipps. They both are by far the strongest performing retail centers in the Southeast and given that Simon is now implementing a longterm redevelopment strategy, both malls will be able to successfully adapt to the changing climate.

Looks to be an exciting year for retail in Atlanta. Suitsupply recently opened their largest American store at the Shops Around Lenox complex. Scotch & Soda will soon open a location there. The new owners deserve some serious kudos for revitalizing this shopping center. Vince Camuto and UGG Australia will share the old Carol's Daughter space. Carol's Daughter will reopen someone in the back of the mall. Sprinkles will open their new concept at Lenox's main entrance in the fall. I believe Sperrys Topsider will also set up shop at Lenox Square. The Cheesecake Factory, True Foods Kitchen, and Zinburger will be restaurant components for the mall. The old Sharper Image space at Phipps Plaza will soon house a Mephisto. Agent Provocateur is expected to open within the next week (actually April 26, according to Women's Wear Daily). Oliver McMillan's Buckhead Atlanta project is gaining some serious momentum. Construction is in full steam. The Hermes portion of the development is taking shape quite nicely, while Parcel A (the portion with the offices) should become visible within the next few weeks. McMillan has been tight-lipped about Buckhead Atlanta's tenant roster (apparently, that is his strategy). However, a handful of tenants leaked online (the website is down, unfortunately). In addition to Oscar de la Renta, Hermes, Etro, and Brunello Cucinelli, other committed tenants include Moncler, Akris, Canali, Christian Louboutin, Thomas Pink, Scoop NYC, Shake Shack, Georgetown Cupcake, and Courage b. I also read that Alexis Bittar and Monika Chiang were looking to expand in the Atlanta market, though specific locations weren't specified (I'm guessing that it's Buckhead Atlanta) I'm excited about this project! White Provisions in Midtown is developing into quite a nice shopping destination, probably my favorite place to shop in Atlanta. Jamestown is looking to expand the development to include 14,000 square feet of additional retail space. Among White Provision's newest tenants include Jack Spade, Kayce Hughes, and Steven Alan. In addition, Shake Shack and Jeni's Splendid Ice Custards are rumored to be apart of Ponce City Market. So we could potential have two Shake Shacks within a year. Here are the links. Agent Provocateur is opening on the first level in a space which used to house a Sunglass Hut. I'm glad to see that Phipps is stepping up their marketing and adding more clout into their tenant roster. One can only envision what will take over the Carter-Barnes space.

Definitely. Kinda excited what the new year will bring Atlanta in terms of shopping, especially given Lenox's renovation. Is there a completion date for that project?

It's seems like the only Saks locations that seem to be doing well are the outlets stocked with a wide variety of designers, and those seem to be limited to the larger cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, New York, among others. Many seem to prefer Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus over Saks Fifth Avenue because they typically have better inventory.

I like that they are taking some initiative in densifying Buckhead, but there are a few issues that I have. Buckhead is not very accessible to MARTA, as opposed to Midtown, so traffic will most likely get worse. Atlanta already has a huge glut of condominiums under $2 million. It's funny, because the W Hotel in downtown lowered its prices to attract buyers. Yet the St. Regis increased their prices, and it's almost sold out. I hope they redesign the first project before building, because it looks just like the cookie-cutter apartments that dot Atlanta's cityscape.

AllSaints is actually sold at Bloomingdales. I believe they are seeing how well that does before setting up a location in the main center. Topshop will not enter in the American market until at least 2018, so it will be a while until they establish a free-standing location in Atlanta. In the mean time, Topshop clothing will be available in fourteen Nordstroms, which includes the Phipps Plaza location. I'm not sure about the other stores, but I know that Abercrombie & Fitch (the owner of Gilly Hicks) is still plagued with financial issues, so I doubt Gilly Hicks will be expanding anytime soon. Ditto with Dolce & Gabbana. It certainly doesn't have the mass appeal that it once had in the 1990s. I think that stores such as Tod's, Ted Baker, and Miu Miu are more plausible and reasonable options. Miu Miu opened a boutique in Houston a year ago, a market that is undeniably similar to that of Atlanta's retail market.

According to the mall website, looks like Original Penguin and Gregory's is opening soon.

I think there is a lot of overlapping between the two malls. While Phipps Plaza has a decent amount of exclusive tenants, there are a lot of stores that overlap with their locations with Lenox. I don't really know much about the history of both areas, has it been always like this??

Herve Leger is opening in the Neiman Marcus wing at Lenox. They confirmed it on their website.

Can't say I'm surprised about Calvin Klein. Had they probably sold the Collection lines at the White Label stores, and a lot more would probably be open. With that said, The American Cafe at Phipps has closed. Surprised that it lasted this long, the food was not good at all. However, it's always sad to see people being laid off from work.

A Chanel store in Atlanta would most likely be bigger, because it's a bigger market than Orlando. You have a few other Chanel stores not too far from Orlando, so it kinda effects the store size. Many high-end boutiques have their only outposts in Atlanta, and the nearest ones are usually hundreds of miles away in DC or Miami. So the stores would be bigger usually.

French Connection plans to close all but six U.S. stores. I think the store in Atlanta will be spared for the time being.
