  1. I don't really know what to think of Jordan. I certainly like him better than Coody as he's claiming to put the interest of the community ahead of the interest of wealth businesses. He's also a union member and connected with a lot of the organizations I support/work with. But he's mostly talk, no walk. His appointments show that there's no real break with the Coody administration. After reading what I wrote, I feel like the same could be said about the big guy in charge (of the country).
  2. If Hillcrest didn't exist those people would be out living in Lincoln, Centerton, or West Fayetteville. I think we should keep a low-income housing tower in downtown Fayetteville but honestly the residents, who are mostly senior citizens, deserve better. I would like to see a mixed-use development put in its place similar to the aforementioned storefront idea. And for the sake of urbanity, it should be 10-15 stories.
  3. I had first hand experience with how pedestrian unfriendly college a couple of weeks ago. I was taking College from North Street to Center Street and while the area between Dickson and Center was nice, the bit north is terrifying as a pedestrian. The sidewalk is too close to the road. Either the speed limit needs to go down (which is the cheap fix) or the sidewalk needs to be moved further back (preferably with a curb between the sidewalk and road).
  4. Personally, I like both ideas. In the long run, I'd like to see a multilane loop looping through Fayetteville, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, Siloam Springs, Pea Ridge, Rogers, and Springdale. But in the long run, I'd like to see a light rail connecting Fayetteville, Farmington, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers, and Bentonville.
  5. I would love to see a light rail but that's a bit of a pipe dream. What I'd like to see is a regionwide bus service that goes out west to Lincoln / Siloam Srpings, Gravette in the northwest, and West Fork to the South with maybe a line to Eureka Springs.
  6. Sometimes I wonder, do we even have an urban planner? And even if we did, is there anyway we could fund the revitilization of college ave, east 6th / mlk, and southside fayetteville or are we just going to let suburban developers have their way with it?
