Why would USC and Holder (i.e. Addesso), not budget for the lines to be burried? The powers lines are so, so ugly.

A general question for the board. Does anyone know (or wish to speculate) whether the power lines will eventually be buried in front of the Horizon buildings, Adesso, and the intersection of Blossom and S. Main Streets? I know it is an expensive procedure, but I can not fathom that USC would expect top researchers/Fortune 500 companies to locate in buildings whose appearance is so greatly diminished by power lines running so closely to each building.
  3. It still hurts to look at the last set of renderings for the Kline site prior to the project being put on hold. That would (will?) have been one heck of a development.
  4. Amazing how much better that hotel looks now as compared to before the renovation.
  5. I have no idea what they are waiting for. Why would you purchase high-end furniture from a place that looks that poor from the outside? Blast the paint off of the building and it will look very nice.
  6. I agree. Where would you suggest this be located? I concur here as well. If done correctly, that would look amazing.
  7. An article in the State today describes a change in plans by the developers of the Kenny's Auto site in Five Points. I am not sure if this is good news or not. I liked that design of the building that was planned, but was somewhat concerned about the height. State Article
  8. I agree, beers only at the Ale House. My food was mediocre at best.
  9. As for Devine St. does anyone know what will take the place of the now defunct Tiffany's Bakery? It would be nice to see and eclectic restaurant move into that space.
  10. ^^^Good news. Obviously this means that at least part of that building will be renovated. Main Street in five years is going to look and feel amazingly different...
  11. Not sure if this has been posted in this thread or somewhere else on the forum, but a Wet Willy's Daiquiri bar will be opening along Gervais Street. Wet Willy's Here is the location...

You can say that again. It certainly is an improvement over the old asphalt parking lot that used to reside there, but architecturally speaking, that building offers very little.

Great pics, but ugh...those power lines are atrocious.

Some apparent good news on the Innovista front. It appears that a two developers of the University of Kentucky RC are being brought in to bail out Craig Davis. According to the article we may see construction on Horizon II and Discovery II in the not too distant future. Innovista News
  15. Great news. This project will have a very positive impact on the lower portion of Lady Street. Coupled with the new hotel going up across the street, there will be a significant transformation of that area in the year to come. Personally, I love the design of the new building as well.
  16. Not sure about the new addition to the roof. The article does mention that it will include backlighting, which should add a bit of "pizazz" to our skyline at night.
  17. The problem there is that the Horizon II is going to look just like the one currently under construction. So that "blocky" design will slap you in the face as you come up Assembly. USC and Craig Davis cut corners and it shows. Not that the original designs were earth shattering from an architectural standpoint, but they looked much better then what is going up there now.
  18. Wow, what an impressive and comprehensive group of photos. Thanks for taking them. A couple of thoughts/questions... The power lines around Adesso, Horizon and in the one Canal Side photo are enough to make you nauseous. If those are not buried, each of the projects suffer significantly. The Horizon building is a shell of its original design. Too blocky. Where exactly are the Senate Club apartments located? On Senate St. over by the University? Always nice when classic living quarters like those are redone. How about the Auto Dealers building? Where is it located? Again, great shots. They are much appreciated.
  19. I saw that this morning and was wondering where they might go? I would imagine one would have to be placed near to the intersection of Harden and Gervais. One at the end of Greene near the park? Where else?
  20. I certainly don't want to pull anyone away from this forum (which is great by the way), but the following is a great site as it pertains to the USC campus, and includes photos and a forum. The site owner does a great job, so feel free to take a look. Main site: USCcampus.com Forum page: Forum listing

If you are referring to the "Hardees block" construction has not started. I have, however, seen numerous people who have heard President Sorenson speak over the Spring say that he has indicated that construction will begin this summer. Originally Sorensen stated that construction would begin in February...so who knows??
  22. The renaissance plaza site is great. I was interested to see how they would lay out the site with the live/work and the two stages of condos. It looks good. I am glad that project is underway.
  23. Interesting. I had not heard about the development plans on Lake Murrary. That is substantial to say the least. I drove by there the other day. The frames are up on the initial stage (i.e. the live work condos). I think that development will look nice and be a great anchor tenant for that portion of Lady St. Which specific building is this...the green tower right on the corner of Gervais and Main?
