Welcome I miss. If you don't mind, I would love to hear your comparison between Columbia and Raleigh. They seem like similar cities (Raleigh being a bit bigger). What are some things you like better about Columbia? Raleigh?

Upload your photos onto photobucket.com (free and easy to register). Image tags are automatically generated, therefore, you can cut and paste into the thread and the image can be viewed by the rest of us. I drove by the site yesterday. The building is coming along nicely and they have cleared and graded the land next to the apartment complex (bordering the river).

Yes. The construction of the academic learning center, aka "The Dodie" is in full swing. Last I saw the full steel frame had been erected.

Any updates on whether or not Center Vista is still going to be constructed? Man it would be a shame if that project bit the dust.

I visited the rooftop bar at the top of the Sheraton last night, and was blown away by the views of the city. The Meridan Building, the Vista, Main Street, and the Capitol Building all looked simply amazing from up there. This is a great addition to Columbia. It really gives you that "big city" feel when you are up there having a drink.

I rode by club Fusion last night and to be honest, I am on the fence as far as the new pain job is concerned. It does add some variety to the Vista, but the bright red may be a bit much.

I found the following listed in the USC Board of Trustees September minutes regarding an upcoming streetscaping of S. Sumter St. The minutes also touch on a potential expansion of the USC Greek Village.

If they plan on keeping it a park, would a fountain (along with the benches, etc.) not be a great addition?

^^^^Yes, they were digging along Hampton Street in front of the museum yesterday.

That certainly makes sense, but I do not believe that was the case during Phase I. If my memory serves me correctly, they streetscaped all the way to Hampton Street the last go around. Perhaps I am wrong.

I would not say mid-block. Again, it was a few yards from the corner of Main and Blanding. As for the picture above, that angle is actually facing down one of the side streets. That is as far as the streetscaping is supposed to go.

I noticed today that the corners of Blanding and Main Street had not been streetscaped. The work on that particular block just stopped a few yards before you reached Blanding Street. It seemed a bit odd that they would not finish that block, or that they would wait until the next phase to complete the work.
