  1. Books stores like that will be a thing of the past soon....sad but no loss IMO. Just look at Borders. Glad to hear it will be replaced by something.
  2. The Swift site is a perfect location for a Bass Pro. Home Depot would be a nice addition to the area too.
  3. Nice project. Wish downtown Columbus could get a project like that.
  4. Glad to see that space being used. Not sure what is happening by that Starbucks. It is an odd shaped parcel, but big enough for something hopefully.
  5. Notice there is a lot of land being cleared behind Franciscan Woods off of Williams Road. Any idea what is being developed there?
  6. It would be a good place for a hotel, but not sure if it would get approved since it is in the flight path of the airport. Academy Sports would be nice if the parcel is large enough.
  7. I have heard 250 in Columbus with the rest coming from around the Southeast. This was from an executive I know at TSYS.
  8. Not good news. Hopefully Columbus will escape the brunt of the cuts.
  9. Koonce Place is an opportunity to take development in Columbus to the next level. Having done development in Atlanta, I have always wished for something like this in Columbus. Let's hope it comes to reality.
  10. Koonce Place is an opportunity for Columbus to really step it up. Having done development in Atlanta, this is something I have wished for Columbus for years. I hope this comes to reality!
  11. $22M development in works for Columbus Alabama-based Homecorp Inc. to build two apartment complexes, neighborhood center in Columbus; company also building apartment complex in Opelika Two apartment complexes and a neighborhood shopping center are on the drawing board for the Columbus and east Alabama area. Montgomery, Ala.-based Homecorp Inc. said Friday it has started construction of a 292-unit luxury apartment complex on 22 acres of land at 8160 Veterans Parkway.Developer Ben Billings said he’s close to beginning construction on a 12,000-square-foot neighborhood strip center on 1.7 acres near the intersection of Blackmon and Warm Springs roads. The center is already 60 percent pre-leased
  12. Developers Seeking Rezoning Approval for Midland Downs Project off Macon Road 125-acre project to offer single-family homes, apartments, small commercial area Two Columbus developers are planning a 125-acre, mixed-use development in the northeast panhandle area of Columbus. It is to be called Midland Downs. The project, located off Macon Road between the Pratt & Whitney and Precision Components International plants, will be a blend of single-family residents and apartments, along with a small commercial area. The project includes 242 single-family homes and about 200 multi-family units that would be accessed via a road that is now being built on the north side of the property to connect Macon Road with Garrett Road. The city and developers are splitting the cost of the $2 million road, which will run a mile from Garrett to Macon.
  13. It was approved. First part includes building a road. I doubt you will see any dirt moving until at least next summer if not later than that. It was approved. First part includes building a road. I doubt you will see any dirt moving until at least next summer if not later than that.
  14. Excellent info. Hope that Bass Pro happens!
  15. New Nissan dealership is opening up on Monday at Bradley Park. Any ideas what the land in the back will be developed into?
  16. Did years ago. Definitely a Publix dominated market. Video Warehouse is being torn down to make way for the new CVS. It will be moving to a new location. This will all happen within 1 year according to the manager at Video Warehouse. \ Also, what is going in by the Publix on Schomburg Road down by the Zaxby's? All of that land is being cleared.
  17. Didn't know there was anything. Is there a lot of activity on the site? Might be another hotel?
  18. Haven't heard anything about the number of units. Didn't even know they were building out that way until I drove by. I figured the media would have picked up on it by now.
  19. Can you see the new school from highway 280/431?
  20. Same could be said for any city. What would Atlanta be without the airport? Columbus has a diverse economy. Home to big companies like Aflac. TSYS, Synovus, Carmike Cinemas, large medical base, Blue Cross Blue of Shied of Georgia, etc. Fort Benning does is a huge factor for Columbus, but the city does have other major businesses to keep it going. No other city in the state can say that.
  21. I sure hope this creates more buzz along the riverwalk. A nice high-rise hotel would be nice down there. Hopefully this course will become nationally known one day.
  22. Hopefully this move will add more jobs to the plant.
  23. See they are clearing the land at the corner of Williams Road and Veterans. Any idea on what this might be? Heard at one time it might be a Walgreens, but that site is way too large for just a Walgreens.
  24. Glad to see the expansion and the additional 150 jobs! There is so much going on in Columbus it's amazing!
