  1. Totally agree. I would add in the lot right across Hargett from the one you are referring to.
  2. I guess I'm the only one who thinks it looks like Edison. I don't get it from the caddy cornered end at the SE corner, but I really do see a resemblance on the North St facing side.
  3. Rendering for Gramercy from TBJ. It looks like the Edison. This is a pretty typical JDavis "design."http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/real-estate/2014/10/demolition-begins-for-6-story-apartment-building.html?s=image_gallery
  4. This drama is getting old. I say throw in the towel and look for land in other areas of town. It would be a nice thing to have, but Raleigh doesn't have to have it. The only other options are waiting until the regressives have been voted out or some super rich person buy the entire property from the state and gift it to the city. This whole "buy the land, clean it up and then give it back to us to use for free" mess is not acceptable in any way, shape, fashion or form, not even for a single acre of the property. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/10/02/4201062_nc-offers-to-sell-308-acre-dorothea.html?sp=/99/100/&rh=1
  5. The draft of the new downtown plan is online now. They have identified several new districts that are on the edges of existing districts. It seems like Sasaki just came in and told us what we already knew, that the existing districts need to be linked together. Look on the right side of the page about halfway down under the presentations section to find the download link for the Downtown Raleigh Draft Plan. http://www.raleighnc.gov/business/content/PlanUrbanDesign/Articles/DowntownPlan.html
  6. GaWC already has Raleigh listed as a gamma world city. http://www.lboro.com/gawc/world2012t.html
  7. Wow! I hope this is a legit proposal.
  8. Ricky_davis_fan_21 seems to love coming in this forum to stir the pot. He always has something catty to say about the Raleigh area. If one of us went into the Charlotte forum and started talking smack the way he does in here, we would have our posts deleted and be blocked from the entire site. It's a bit of a double standard. I realize this message board was started in Charlotte for only Charlotte, but all posters need to be treated equally if the operators of this board really want to cover all areas of the country/world. Charlotte isn't so special that posters from that area get a free pass to start flame wars.
  9. Looks like Wake will hit 1 million people sometime Friday. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/08/18/4080144/wake-county-expects-millionth.html
  10. That is going to be a nice looking addition.
  11. The comments are sad. There is one guy saying people should ride their bikes on the sidewalks, and another that literally said he is all for suburban sprawl.
  12. It seems like they want so much land for DHHS, too much for 2.7 acres to spark their interest. If they weren't all about partisan b*tch slapping, they would be looking at the Blue Ridge Rd. area. Of course, that study was done when Perdue was in office, so it just has to be a slap in the face to all that is good in the world.
  13. Something tells me that Coble's change of heart was brought on because he knew this bill was coming up for a vote and figured it would be a moot issue since the voters would probably approve a sales tax increase for education over transit. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/07/17/4012140/education-sales-tax-bill-delayed.html
  14. Oops. Edited without looking to see if there were any replies. Yeah, not a very interesting location.
  15. It's the Merz North America HQ. 50 new jobs, 250 total. They will be located in 6501 Six Forks Rd.
  16. It is a marketing and advertising company. They have some really big name contracts. They are the ones behind the cool Cree ads. Burts Bees, BMW, Kingsford and The Umstead are some of their other clients.
  17. I'm sure several of you know more than I do about rail systems. I'm just going off the info that is on their website. There is an image in the gallery that seems to show the routes it would take through campus. http://ecoprt.com/the-big-idea-behind-ecoprt/
  18. They will be two passenger cars, not that that's much better. The idea is that you can supposedly go straight to your destination point without the car stopping at every station along the route. I say give it a go. At a cost of only $1 million per mile it's worth a shot, especially since it isn't going to come from taxpayer money. The system is going on NCSU campus as a trial. Other areas can link up to it if it is as successful as the developers think it will be.
  19. Raleigh-Cary metro is the second fastest growing economy in the country. http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/2014/06/study-raleigh-cary-has-nations-second-fastest.html
  20. According to a mention in this article from the Raleigh Public Record, it sounds like 401 Glenwood is getting ready to face the wrecking ball to make way for Gramercy. http://raleighpublicrecord.org/news/2014/06/07/udo-complaints-and-development-by-the-numbers/
  21. I've always heard it is called that because it is where 5 neighborhoods meet. Those neighborhoods are Georgetown, Vanguard Park, Roanoke Park, Bloomsbury and Hayes Barton.
  22. I love this idea! I've always thought a traffic circle makes more sense here than the intersection we have today.
  23. Speaking of Preston, this development is moving right along. The area's first Publix, which is in this development, should be open in a few months. http://liveatbradford.com/
  24. I'm a little surprised by that. I didn't expect there to be much interest in huge $1.5 million condos in Five Points. I guess the fact that they are full floor units helped a lot. They won't have to worry about noisy neighbors, and will have windows on all four sides of the unit. I would have preferred the original condo building with ground floor retail, but I doubt RDC would've been able to pull that off even if the neighborhood hadn't went bonkers over that proposal.
  25. No retail. The first floor has 2 units, and the top 2 floors are full floor units that are around 4k sq ft. I'm guessing that the 2 units sold in each of the yet to be constructed buildings are the smaller, cheaper first floor units.
