  1. Fairly extensive beer selection, too. It's special because it hasn't changed in years. It hasn't changed in DECADES.
  2. Ugh. I suppose it's better than having an empty pizza hut, but for crying out loud....so that means on one of the most valuable intersections in the city, we'll have a bank branch (Wachovia), a bank branch (BB&T), a bank branch (Monarch), and....a Hardee's. Maybe a bank is the only entity that can afford the lot. But add in the BoA 1 block south, and it's kind of ridiculous.
  3. Depending upon later buried utility locations, they probably *are* still there, just paved over. I know the ones on Botetourt in Ghent are; when the city scraped the streets around the Hague to repave them a couple of years ago, it exposed the rails and cobblestones in places. Incidentally, it also exposed the wooden paving blocks used on Mowbray Arch; apparently the city used wooden blocks on Mowbray at the behest of the wealthy residents -- it quieted the sound of the passing horses' hooves. I took a few pictures, it was interesting.
