  1. Not surprised. Dunkin wanted to get into the neighborhood years ago. They were going to take the spot midwood smokehouse is in until the Dunkin real estate rep went into the White Rabbit store that was there before Slate. The 6' dildo lamps scared them off.
  2. Agree. I personally would be a little surprised if it isn't in Georgia, North Carolina, or Virginia.
  3. That's barnhardt manufacturing company. They make a variety of types of fibers.
  4. I live just outside 277. My condo Has gone up about 90% since 2014.
  5. You might be thinking of DFA in southend. I believe it will be 200ish feet. There was also a rower proposed at the design center with some good height to it. Those are the only two I'm aware of in South End that would add much to a southend skyline.
  6. If nc cities get eliminated, I would like to see Detroit get it. It would be great to see one of America's once great cities return to former glory in a new industry .
  7. Don't expect much for the area between Noda and the last 2 or 3 stops. Uptown through Noda and around the university will see a ton of new development.
  8. This one is the worst IMO The two you reference are horrible, but at least they have windows.
  9. I noticed a sign was up in Plaza Midwood next to 1305 Central with the Pilots Brewing logo.
  10. They'd have to be shoe boxes for the numbers to work. New construction is expensive. Skyhouse is designed to be built as efficiently and cheaply as possible and even they can't touch those numbers.
  11. I got some details on Toucan Louie's, which is a Common Market / Rhino Market like concept going in on Rozzelles Ferry in an old gas station. The concept itself is nothing Charlotte doesn't already have..market, bottleshop, coffee, etc all in one, but they will be focusing heavily on local products and producing many of their own products. Coffees and meats will be roasted in store rather than just buying commercially packaged meats.
  12. Interesting thought. Hadn't considered that, but it makes sense.
  13. A beer garden is being added to the north side of the stadium.
  14. I've seen Google installing fiber at 3 apartments in my neighborhood in the last week.
  15. I didn't even know the building in your first photo was being built. Too much to keep up with these days.
  16. I'd quit drinking before spending $18 on a cocktail. I'm not poor, but I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a drink.
  17. I enjoy craft beer, but I honestly will just start drinking cocktails if beer is going to cost almost as much as one anyway. I find it absurd that I can get local beers cheaper at bars than I can at the breweries that produce it.
  18. So Recess opened today, though I'm not really sure how. It felt very unfinished. Light fixtures not enclosed and in the bathroom they didn't even bother spending an extra $10 to ensure the fixtures even had enough bulbs. Rap music was the only thing being played and it was far too loud for what seemed like a casual hangout concept. I thought it was loud when I got there and then they nearly doubled the volume. The food looked decent to good, but I didn't order any because it took 10 minutes to get a draft beer when there were only about 5-6 other patrons in the bar. Overall it felt very cheaply done. Like someone had a somewhat unique concept but didn't have the money to do it right. You can swing on a swing set sitting on uneven ground. Or play tetherball in overgrown weeds on an embankment behind the parking lot. The 4 square slab is also at the top of the constructed embankment surrounding the parking lot. Just dont play too hard or you might fall onto someone's car. Overall, I'd give execution a D-. I give it 6 months max before it goes under.
  19. Doesn't hurt that the lead tv personality for the event is from Charlotte.
  20. Resident culture did a fantastic job repurposing that building. It looks great.
