  1. I never get on this side of the river so I have missed this. Maybe I do remember seeing a mobile crane over there. There is a slideshow on the article link. UT hospital heart center opening April 27th
  2. Maybe someone could relate this to the proper authority about the improvement of Centennial Park. I thought I remember where I saw they were asking for the public's input on the park overhaul. Also, I just thought of an additional improvement. Is there anyway to connect it to the greenway system?
  3. 1700 is funky, I like it from the pictures.&nbsp;&nbsp;Hey Nashvillan, did you know you spelled Acropolis Acrapolis the second time?&nbsp;&nbsp; Was that a Fruedian slip? Hahaha, <img src="http://www.saveaplanet.org/cdn/img/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif" class="bbc_emoticon" alt="">.&nbsp;&nbsp;I like the dark brick and bronze green roof, but that is just me, easy to please.&nbsp;&nbsp; The second group of photos of the homes reminds me of a project that I thought was canceled.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was supposed to be high-end town homes, and they looked similar to these, but I thought the project was out towards Belle Meade.&nbsp;&nbsp;I remember I liked this design because they were all different and reminded me of ancient Roman villas! <div><br></div><div>Edit: Ok, I got confused. &nbsp; The dark brick with the green roof is the Artesia, and the town homes are the project I was thinking of that I thought got canceled. &nbsp;I found them in the old (we don't use it much anymore) pinned Nashville project thread. &nbsp;Man, you guys should go back and check out the old projects that didn't get built. &nbsp; It would have been cool to see them all in fruition. &nbsp; The ones that stick out to me were the apartments above the MTA hub, Art Avenue lofts (did these actually get done?), Werthan Mills (how much of this got done?), WES, Eakin, Neuhoff, the Manning, H2O, Fern Avenue Loft, Cumberland Yacht Harbor, Westin, of course Siggy, Treble Flats, the Whitney, thermal project, and Griffin Plaza.</div><div><br></div><div>Does anyone know the status of Rolling Mill Hill?</div>
  4. Well, as everyone knows, this is a go. I saw this on their facebook fan page. OxBlue Construction Cam
  5. Appreciate it. Yeah, I have sensitive eyes at night as well and bright lights really get to me. I took some shots this weekend while in Nashville. I will post them soon. It was a great day weather-wise!
  6. Knoxville's McGee Tyson airport received a grant to put towards a lost cost carrier route to BAL/WASH. Could we see Southwest? Per knoxknews: Knoxville wins grant for airport Also, Urban Outfitters is looking to open a location in Market Square downtown.
  7. Taken from atop the 11th St parking garage. The sequence goes by moving west to east then back toward the north. Looking down Cumberland through the UT campus. Ayres Hall is visible along with a pedestrian bridge.
  8. It looks they are gutting the Brehm Animal Science building and remodeling. I am not sure of the details.
  9. This is the area between Alcoa Hwy, Kingston Pike, and Neyland Drive. They have done some site prep work by moving around dirt. I heard it is supposed to be sorority housing, but this is pure hearsay. These were taken from the offramp from Alcoa Hwy to Neyland Dr. I'll have to get some better pictures another day with other angles of the site.
  10. I didn't know Cookeville had a bus transit system. So I am not sure if this is brand new or a few years old. I don't remember it being there when I was at TTU a few years ago, but maybe I overlooked it. Anyways it is called CATS (Cookeville Area Transport System) similar to Knoxville's KATS I guess, and it is part of the UCHRA (Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency. Ok it looks like is it new according to a TTU fb news feed. Cost for adults is $1.00 per trip, $3.00 for a day pass, $25 for a 30 trip pass, or $10.00 for a 10 trip pass; children 5 years and under ride free. (Tennessee Technological University students are free with student identification cards.) A ride ticket and all passes can be purchased at the UCHRA Putnam County Office. CATS WEBSITE UCHRA WEBSITE Looks great! Let us know how it works out, Cookevillians!
  11. You're right about FL. I was in Tampa in December, and there were advertisements about high speed rail from Tampa to Orlando and Tampa to Miami. I imagine that states like North Carolina and Florida are higher up on the important list since they are tied to the East Coast and have ports like Miami et al. But yeah, they are way ahead. Maybe we will get the trickle effect once other places get high speed, and they will have to go through Nashville to get somewhere else!
  12. Belmont University is opening a School of Law in 2011! Milestones: Belmont School of Law announcement
  13. East Tennesse (Clinton in Anderson Co.) lands a solar power technology related manufacturing plant. Per the Tennesean: Solar company to build plant in East Tennessee
  14. The CC vote passed the Metro Council. Construction is to start in 2-3 months and be done by 2013. I was personally in favor of the project. I think it will be a big boost if done right, especially with the Medical Mart moving in the old CC.
  15. Nossi College of Art and Goodpasture are planning some collaborations between the two schools with information about Nossi's expansion. Nossi College, Goodpasture plan partnership
  16. Aquinas College overcrowded and is looking to raise $40 million for expansion. From the Tennessean: Link to article Nashville's Aquinas College to expand
  17. I forgot to ask flith. Is the new UTC SimCenter building going up in Chatt yet? I think it was supposed to go near where the old steel yard is? Great idea, will be a huge boom to Chattanooga!
  18. I yeah I agree. The buildings are not the best, but they don't look bad either, IMO. I like the campus a lot. It has a great mix of old and new and flows from one area to the other (DT, the fort area, all the way to the end of Cumberland/Kingston. However, it is very big!! The pedestrian view isn't the best, but it's not so bad either. They have plenty of pedestrian walkways and a pedestrian mall that takes up part of Andy Holt now (not sure how long that has been there). However, they do have shuttles which help tremendously because from the Ag campus to the Engineering buildings is a good 30-45 minute walk. A few new buildings are going up or are planned to go soon which should help with some for the parking lots and blank spots. The new health center is one, going on the corner of Voluteer and Pat Summit(?) where the rock use to be. As far as Knoxville it has incredible potential. I was quite impressed when I moved up here, and got a feel for the city. It has great older buildings and neighborhoods prime for restoration and reuse development. If I had the money, I would definitely consider sinking it into Knoxville. So one day I might take you up on that offer Nashvillain!! More photos coming soon. Haven't had a chance to upload yet!
  19. Also, drewbert or anyone. Do you guys know what the red crane is for behind the Meyers building?? I think I caught that too on my drive around.
  20. Wow, oh cool. That is a very nice shot with a point and shoot. I have never messed with Photoshop and that looks great. Maybe one day whrn I get some more time to donate to photgraphy I will get more into that kind of stuff or maybe I am just behind in that realm. I have a point and shoot too but want to upgrade on day to a DSLR. It's getting warmer!
  21. Ha! I agree. The Rhythm is lacking and subpar. It needs just a little something like some color to at least make it a little better.
  22. Wow!! Great pano drewbert!!! That is one of the best spots to get a good view of the area. What kind of camera do you have and what website did you load it up to?
