  1. Saturday, May 4th is this year. I think the event is actually this year and it was confusing how they mentioned it along with the other event that's next year.
  2. West Michigan Food Collective has announced that their store will open at 2 Wealthy St SE. http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=3569a48a65ba7755e2293d89e&id=64ad016de8
  3. The have all of them in order on the ArtPrize website: http://www.artprize.org/artists/top10
  4. I feel like I saw an article about this, but can't find it now. Pictures are on the Smitty's Facebook page and Pioneer Construction. http://www.facebook.com/PioneerConstruction#!/media/set/?set=a.10150332571785561.385755.332513490560
  5. Guess I'm older than I realize cause I have some fond memories of times spent at the Monroe Center Amphitheater and that brought some back. I like the openness of RPC, but there was something about the old setup... This was clearly done in the 80's, the era of neon. My brother and I had some awesome neon coordinating shirt/short combos.
  6. According to this article and something else I saw on a different site it's between Tower 25 and Tower 35: http://www.rapidgrowthmedia.com/devnews/35Michigan0203.aspx
  7. Josh (fotoman) and I have been unable to view Urban Planet at home for about a week now. No problem accessing it at work, but nothing will come up at home. We probably don't have anything insightful to say anyway... or at least I don't.
  8. I've been to PF Chang's in Omaha and it did not feel upscale at all. It's like the Olive Garden of Asian cuisine (food that is kind of overpriced for what it is). I don't remember exact prices and of course they don't have them on their website (guessing they vary by region) but it didn't seem to me that their prices were too terribly far off from places like Olive Garden, Outback, Carraba's. Those places seem to be doing fine. Drive through any of the sprawl areas on pretty much any given night and most of the restaurants are busy. People eat out all the time now and they aren't going to bat an eye at paying a couple bucks more for something they view as a step up from Applebee's.
  9. According to my quick internet research Asian carp can jump around 8-10 feet so I'm not really sure the dam would slow them down too much.
  10. We've been there a couple of times and have always had good food and service. I'm not holding my breath much on their liquor license since that same sign has been there since at least March. I know there are a lot of hoops to jump through for that stuff, so hopefully it's still happening.
  11. Happy's is here and has been here for at least 6 months, probably longer, can't remember.
  12. I had a "hey, what's that?" moment at the Michigan Bicycle Summit on Saturday in Lansing. Gould Engineering was there to showcase some of their bike projects, but also had a display with their other projects. I had no idea that people build private water skiing lakes or at the water ski lake developments exist. I was really surprised to find out that one of the largest in the world (at least that's what the guy told us) is located in Allendale: Placid Waters
  13. I don't know much about what's going on there, but I do know this cheesecake place is sharing space with the Eel: Cheesecake Jake's
  14. Yeah, that was what I was thinking too. Back when it was more square than circle.
  15. I love Koeze peanut butter, but then again I have a family member who works there, so I might be a little biased. Of course the fact that they're selling it world wide has to say something about how much people like it.
  16. They're still working on it, but they're not saying anything about locations. My impression is that they're not going to announce a location until it's a reality.
  17. There will be a pocket park. Here's the city report on it: https://www.ci.grand-rapids.mi.us/index.pl?...cument_id=10703 I'm excited for it to be done as it's the easiest bike route from our house to Founders, but I don't like feeling like I'm going to go flying off my bike as I ride over the uneven brick surface. I have no problem with bricks, but that part of the street was out of control.
  18. There was a short blurb about this in the business section of the Press the other day, but this was the first thing that came up on my mlive search and it has a little more info: Thai food coming to Monroe Ctr http://blog.mlive.com/knapescorner/2009/08...ome_t.html#more
  19. I just googled it and found a couple of different stories about either private cruises or event related cruises happening this spring so it looks like it's still floating. Here's one: http://www.mlive.com/news/muskegon/index.s...r_old_fash.html
  20. I saw them this morning on my drive to work. I've been biking lately, which involves a different route, so I had missed them before today. Next time I drive to work I'll try to remember the camera.
  21. He would need to own a car to drive for $60. The problem is that without a car it's not quite so cheap to get to Detroit.
  22. When I was reading that story on Sunday I put glove and coat and horn together and figured that must be you.
  23. We had a great time last night and were very happy to see so many other people out enjoying the events. The snow was really beautiful! What happened with the tree lighting? We walked by around 8 and the tree was there and the lights were on it, but it was not lit.
  24. Didn't you look at all of the photos? There was an interior shot. I love the ceiling in there. I remember hearing this was coming sometime last year and then it never did. I had given up on it actually happening, so I was excited to see that it's open now.
  25. I was just reading that and amazed as well. It reminded me that I need to stop reading the comments on that site, because as my mom was just telling me earlier today, "you can't fix stupid."
