  1. Two in LR. One in Hillcrest and another on Cantrell. They are best known for the Stuffy (Chicago Style pizzas). I like it a lot. My wife loves the place. Dollar PBR all day, everyday. http://www.damgoodepies.com/
  2. A Home Depot has long been rumored to be coming to Maumelle (or just outside of it in NLR). The land between McDonalds and the new Riverpoint Plaza was the rumored location. There has been talk of it since the first talk of the Wal-Mart started a long time ago. Not sure whatever happened to the plans. I have also seen the sign for Russell Cellular and Dollar Tree and was disappointed. I am curious as to what happened to the plans for a Coltons, Ruby Tuesday, and other chain restaurants that were supposed to follow Wal-Mart. Probably on hold due to the economy.
  3. It is in the same development as the new China Buffet and Bedding Mart across from Mi Burrito. They have a sign up and a now hiring sign over the door. Also, there is a new strip of stores being put up next to the Sonic by Wal-Mart and there is some new foundation work being done on the large cleared area of land behind Wal-Mart. Does anybody know the tenants of these locations.
  4. I was in there last week and there are at least two vacant spots. Between the front door and the new chocolate shop.
  5. Looks like the Walgreens has hit a snag. The city would not approve their sign. http://www.jacksonvillepatriot.com/article..._news/nws03.txt
  6. Do you know of anything else planned for the rest of Tract D? With the way Maumelle is booming I really hope they think to the future with the development of the rest of that land. We need a city center. Something more pedestrian oriented. With the lake right and park across the street I really am hoping for something more than them just plotting out the land selling. I know it will probably not happen but I can dream.
  7. When you guys put it that way it makes me feel dumb. I shoulda been able to figure that out. Thanks.
  8. I am not up on the lingo. What does all this mean? I can't do this kinda math. I understand what the lease being executed means but not the part about the contractor or the 60 day build. Thanks.
  9. I was there yesterday. The sign was being finished while I was there.
  10. Thanks for the quick replies. I have not been keeping up with ongoing activities in Maumelle the past few months. I tried to find some info on the web but came up empty. Where can I possibly get a look at the plans? I am very interested in the proposed size, classrooms, etc. Did you see them at a town hall meeting or something?
  11. cozmosis or anybody that may know, Has there been any new developments on the HS? Is it a done deal? Has a date been set for building and completion? I haven't heard anything since we discussed it a couple months ago and I thought there may be new info out there. I have a couple friends who are considering moving to Maumelle and they have asked me about the HS specifically.
  12. I went to the neighborhood market the other day and I agree that it is much better than the Harvest Foods that was there but it isn't anything special. I am just glad that something is there and not an empty building.
  13. Not so fast. Looks like they have decided to approve it. http://www2.arkansasonline.com/news/2008/j...n-str-20080701/ Also, the new fire/police station was approved. There is a Sonic and BK being built by the Wal-mart. And the WM gas station is now open and they are having a mini price war with the other gas stations. Last time I looked gas was 3.64. WooHoo.
  14. UCA has broke ground on the new business building and should be ready to go by Fall 2009. http://www.arkansasbusiness.com/article.as...15.72170.117056
  15. I walked thru the RM today at lunch. In one of the empty spots in the food court there was a sign hanging and some people working to put up a new shop. The sign read "Cocoa Belle, beautiful chocolate".
  16. Thanks for the info. On the restaurant itself, I have never been a big fan. I think it is kind of overrated. People in Conway love the place but I think that is mostly because until recently they haven't had much to choose from.
  17. Taken from the Jacksonville School District thread. As a Maumelle resident I will say that I would be more than willing to send my children to the elementary or middle school here but not Oak Grove and this is coming from a guy who went to NLRHS and who has family still in Oak Grove. I think a lot of people in Maumelle feel that same way and once there is a HS in the city it will pull kids away from CAC, PA, etc. Also, as the talk of the new HS has been heating up I have been getting phone calls and questions from friends in Conway who work downtown that are very interested in moving to Maumelle now. They have always wanted to move closer but the HS was what held them back until now. It will really make Maumelle a more complete community and I think it will definitely spur more growth. As far as Maumelle becoming its own school district, I really don't know where I stand on that. I want to get the HS built first then we can talk about it. Has anybody seen the plans for the new HS in Maumelle? I know they submitted them recently and there was a write up about them in the paper.
  18. Nope, it is going in at the corner of S. German Lane and HW 286 near the bus factory and Dollar General. At least that was where the coming soon sign was last time I was in town.
  19. Thats the impression I got. I don't think I will make a second visit to that page. It just seemed like alot of NWA people trying to pump up their sprawl by bashing LR. You know what they say, when you have to bash others to make yourself look good you never had anything to begin with. Which is unfortunate because NWA has alot going for it, I don't see the need in it. I sound like my parents, I am getting old.
  20. That may be the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. It certainly is the most ridiculous statement I have read on this board. Was this person serious?
  21. I may be wrong but I think they are referring to Babies R' Us.
  22. As a resident of NLR from 0-18 I agree with everyone. This whole little man syndrome that NLR has for LR is very similar to the whole NWA v. LR thing to me. Everybody has it out for the big guy. I no longer live in NLR but if I did I would vote to consolidate both cities as I am sure most of my friends and relatives in NLR would do when told of the advantages of being one city. Sadly, it will never happen.
  23. I had also been hearing the old Kroger location but the tract D spot would be much more likely considering all the new construction. The only reason I had hoped it would go in where the old Kroger is was because I didn't want an abandoned building of that size and visibility but I would assume that land will sell and be developed rather quickly because of its location.
  24. You may very well be correct. I never spoke with anyone working for the city but I did get this information from multiple city business owners who are involved in the planning of these things and go to meetings with city leaders. They have never told me anything before that didnt come to fruition. I cannot recall if Maumelle actually officially denied Wal-Mart but you know as well as I do that just because it wasn't official does not mean it didn't happen. Wal-Mart may have known the answer and decided to move on.
  25. That sounds very reasonable. It would have gotten Wal-Mart in the city limits for tax purposes but they would have been off of the Boulevard and it could have spured growth toward I40 which is what the city is wanting to do (new freeway exit at old rest stop, Middle School, land for proposed High School) but the visibility would have been minimal at least for right now. I remember reading in the local paper that a developer was already lined up to buy the old station and land when it was agreed upon that they would build new stations near the bridge on the north end. That was awhile ago so who knows now with Wal-Mart now in town and Kroger moving with that land across the intersection also for sale.
