  1. The current BofA stadium site could be used for MLB when they have to build a new football stadium in the next 10-15 years.
  2. Amelie's coming to the back side of Park Rd Shopping Center - this location will house a cake bakery. Wonder what this means for the existing Suarez Bakery? Details at the bottom on this story: http://www.charlotteagenda.com/5316/amelies-in-south-charlotte-is-open-and-coming-soon-to-park-road-shopping-center/
  3. Rezoning Petition for the southwest corner of Montford and Park - currently a hair salon in an old house - converting over to retail. http://www.charmeck.org/city/charlotte/planning/Rezoning/RezoningPetitions/2015Petitions/Pages/2015-053.aspx As a resident in this neighborhood, I'd like to see retail come to this side of Park Rd. Have a feeling the immediate neighbors will fight this though due to the driveway on Montford.
  4. Didn't Jerry Richardson say he wanted the city to buy that land to use for parking for the current stadium and a site for a future stadium? The current stadium will likely need to be replaced by 2025 at the latest to keep the team here.
  5. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2015/03/02/italiangrocery-targets-second-charlotte-location.html Pasta & Provisions eyeing the Mike's Discount beverage building on Park Rd. A great addition to the area IMO.
  6. Are there any plans for a people mover? if you arrive at the far point on the expanded concourse A and have to make it out to the far point on E then you better hope you don't have a tight connection time.
  7. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/05/15/4912684/cherry-rezoning-stires-old-fears.html#.U3VH2160ZuZ the neighborhood continues to fight the rezoning. Can't understand why they transferred the land to the "Cherry Community Organization" as that just made it easier for a single entity to sell out.
  8. seems like this will cannibalize HT's East Blvd and PRSC stores. Look forward to seeing how they are going to redevelop the apartments behind the shopping center. Hopefully most of the tree canopy remains intact.
  9. Why would a hotel want to compete against the plethora of restaurants in the southpark area?
  10. Bumping this thread back up - Hopefully some of the streetscape improvements can be incorporated into the plans for the new apartment complexes proposed in this area. There should be even more pedestrian traffic once all of the apartments are built and filled. Tenants will be walking to the new restaurants coming to Park Rd Shopping Ctr, Montford Dr, and the tasting room at Brawley's. The city really needs to add safe ways to cross over Park Rd at Montford. The city plan linked above also mentioned removing some of the PRSC curb cuts on Woodlawn and possibly a pedestrian bridge from Park Towne Village to Park Rd Shopping Ctr. New apartments at the current Stratford location on Park Rd http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/real_estate/2014/02/pollack-shores-purchases-stratford-apartments-on.html New apartments next to Mann Travel at Park/Woodlawn (same builder as the recently completed building on the other side of the intersection http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/real_estate/2014/04/selwyn-property-group-planning-second-apartment.html New apartment at Abbey Pl and Hedgemore http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Rezoning/2014/028-032/2014-028%20site%20plan.pdf
  11. as mentioned in the comments section, the fact that there is no parking and that the neighbors will tow if you park in their lot presents a big challenge to anyone looking to operate in this space.
  12. Expect something similar to Taco Mac, Flying Saucer, or Carolina Ale house. Probably a location with plenty of parking.
  13. Don't forget that they are dropping off on the top level of the terminal and then have to make a lap to come around to pick up on the lower level.
  14. Don't think anyone will be sorry to see the Stratford go...but it's too bad they can't do anything make it easier to get in/out of the apartment complex and the mini-Teeter shopping center. It really needs a traffic light but there is one a stone's throw away at the intersection w/ Selwyn.
  15. An interesting look at Charlotte's regional transportation issues in the wake of the debacle in Atlanta - I don't think we are immune to something similar (on a smaller scale). http://cltdevelopment.blogspot.com/2014/01/three-questions-atlantas-snowmageddon.html
  16. Zoning site plan is online now...looks like 46 parcels to be developed. http://ww.charmeck.org/planning/rezoning/2014/023-027/2014-024%20site%20plan.pdf
  17. That is a very efficient layout that was used by the last 2 major airports to be built in the US (ATL and DEN). ATL opened around 1980 and Denver opened in the early 90s - both use the same layout although Denver has room for additional growth (up to 12 runways, I think). ATL is pretty much built out.
  18. Does anyone know the details of the "neighborhood community organization that bought more than 100 homes in the 1970s slowly allowed them to decay"? Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/01/02/4583312/high-end-housing-moves-into-cherry.html#storylink=cpy
  19. The Dry Cleaners behind Park Rd Shopping Center has been asked to vacate after 29 years at the current location. Sounds like we will see some tenant changes in 2014. Not sure why you wouldn't want a dry cleaner in a center like this? Maybe they want something newer and more corporate???? http://charlotterestauranttraffic.com/news/grinch-shows-park-road-shopping-center/
  20. The connectivity to Yorkmont and Billy Graham will be a big plus for the development.
  21. Very good chance you won't collect miles for any of the flight on your itinerary - and per the fine print, they could cancel your FF account all together.
  22. I figured the tenants in those two shopping centers would look quite different once all of the apartments opened up but didn't think they'd bulldoze and am certainly surprised that there isn't a place for Healthy Home Market - great store and was a "stealth" place for high demand craft beer purchases. I wonder when Marsh will redevelop the apartments behind the stores?
  23. I attended it. If we'd had Sunday's weather on Sat, then it certainly would have helped with the crowds. For a "Brew and Q" event they sure did have a lame beer selection at the booths on Tryon (ShockTop and Goose Island being the only 'craft' seletions). We ended up going inside a bar to get a beer. And since price was mentioned, yes, $10 for a small pork sandwich, mac&cheese, and canned soda was a bit expensive.
  24. Really wish they had done away with (or seriously reduced) the curbside parking. It would make it much easier to see pedestrians that are crossing over from the shops to the parking lot.
  25. It looks like more of a whitewashing than painting....maybe it will mellow out after a few months of weathering.
