  1. Damn. I can not countenance the parking reason, though. This thing was literally going to be built around a parking garage. If there wasn't enough space in it for all the uses planned, it could have easily been extended another floor or two to accomodate a large office tenant.
  2. Westbound and not eastbound? That looks like a really awkward fit unless I'm misunderstanding. How's that going to work with that quadrant?
  3. New official renderings from SHoP:
  4. The introduction of the brownfield for 600 East Michigan happened this week. This is the first big move sense the rezoning of this land a few months back. The working name is Capital City Market. Stats are still that it'll be around 153,000 square feet with the market, a 120-125 room flagship hotel, only 36 apartments, and 298 surface parking spaces. Demolition will start early next year with the store opening by fall 2020 and the rest by December of that year.
  5. Timeline has been moved up a month. It looks like Park District is going to start early December. The City of East Lansing has sent a notice to Christman Company, general contractors for the neighboring Center City developer, to vacate a parcel of land the city owns which they've been using for construction staging. That's going to be two more tower cranes on the skyline.
  6. Thanks for all this. What was throwing me off was that I didn't realize the city was bringing Ionia through. Love this truly mixed-use project, BTW.
  7. Quick questions: 1. What's exactly under construction at the moment? The hotel, theater and parking garage, right? Or is it also Building's B & C, too? 2. Are there any documents in the city package that show how many feet the Canopy tops out at? I'm having a hard time orienting myself in the construction photos and the site plans.
  8. Huh? You guys have the Warner Tower and 601 Bond going up right now, not to mention you had River House not that incredibly long ago. Grand Rapids' high-rise development is going just fine. If you're talking skyscrapers, well, it'll happen.
  9. This one is under construction, now, with the drilling of caissons for the foundation. From Tuesday: https://www.detroityes.com/mb/showthread.php?23134-hudson-Site-Construction&p=558208#post558208
  10. The first official rendering of the 912-foot version of the Hudson Tower in Detroit has leaked.
  11. This happened very quickly. Not formally presented until late last month, the agreement is already completed and they'll start their next season in the stadium in march. Pro soccer in downtown Lansing gets go-ahead from City Council
  12. Landmark: This one has three or four more floors to go. East Lansing's height limit generally results in buildings of 12 floors max. October 17 Landmark on Grand River October 10 Landmark on Grand River
  13. Metro Place: Demolition started this week on the old YMCA Building on Reutter Park in the south end of downtown. The new four-story building will include 175 loft-style apartments and around 7,000 square feet of commercial space. I'm going to miss this old building. Matthew Dae Smith | LSJ
  14. This one passed it's last hurdles last week, which included variance requests and the vacation of two streets in the technology park. Now all that's left is the site plan review. This one will be 158 feet tall and 9 floors. This should be starting construction very soon.
  15. October 5: https://www.eastlansingbuzz.org/single-post/2018/10/05/Construction-Update-10-5-18 This one has had soil issues which has delayed it a bit, but they've apparently solved them.

  17. Hudson - Building Program by NewCityOne, on Flickr Is there not a way to preview a post, here?
  18. The Free Press had a bit more on this. Bedrock confirmed for sure this is going higher than 800 feet. We also learn that they will be applying for a foundation permit next month, so that will be the start of construction, which makes sense given that it won't be too much longer this month before the site is fully cleaned out. A photo of the progress on the debris removal from the site as of Tuesday: 48307
  19. More news on this one. They height has been increased yet again, though they will not decided how much above 800 feet it will be until January. With the current core design, it can max out at 912 feet. If they decide for a total internal redesign, who knows? At 912 feet, though, it'd have the highest roof of any building in the Midwest outside Chicago. I think the Key Tower in Cleveland currently hold this title. Really, I just like to see them say 'what the hell' and make this a supertall. Gilbert's Hudson's site skyscraper may grow to 912 feet in height Kirk Pinho | Crain's Detroit Business The prep work is still on schedule. The debris pile, which had to have been at least a half-a-story thick across the site after demolition, is nearly gone which mean they can start foundation work soon.
  20. Meijer market, hotel project billed as 'game-changer' for downtown Lansing
  21. The city of East Lansing has been trying to redevelop this prominent corner since 2002, with the major problem being that an unscrupulous developer had control over the site until last year. Having moved him out of the way, it seems that the northwest corner of Grand River and Abbot will finally be developed. The city council approved the site plan and special land use permit for this one earlier this week. What the project will include: Building A (100 West Grand River): A 13-story, 218-unit residential highrise. It will stand 150'-0" and have nearly 14,000 square feet of retail on its ground floor, 89 parking spaces on floors 2 & 3 (+184 bicyle parking spots), and then apartments on floors 4 through 13. It will also feature a roof-top deck. Building D (120 West Grand River): A 10-story, 194-room hotel highrise. It will stand 129'-6" and will have 3,290 square feet of retail on its ground floor, and 6,480 square feet of meeting space. It will also include a restaurant, ballroom and fitness center. Building C (342 Evergreen): A 5-story, 72-unit apartment building. It will stand 62'-0" and have 26 parking spots on its ground floor (+45 bicycle parking spaces). They want to begin on this by January. By then, this means you'll have five high-rises under construction along Grand River Avenue all at once with you include Newman Lofts, Landmark on Grand River, and The Hub.
  22. An update on City Club Apartments CBD Detroit. This will have 288 units, 2-levels of underground parking, and retail. I believe they've already signed a gourmet market and pet store for some of the retail, and are in the process of signing some restaurants. July 30 - City Club Apartments CBD Detroit Kirk Pinho Renderings:
  23. Almost over...(photos from Kirk Pinho): This means we'll likely see grading of the site and cleaning out of the tub start next month, which may put them ahead of schedule of drilling/driving of piles and concrete pours for the foundation, which were scheduled to start in the Fall.
  24. The Target at the base of Landmark on Grand Rvier is coming along more quickly than planned: East Lansing Buzz Glass is about to go up, and then Target can begin interior build-out.
