  1. Interesting, so I guess oklahoma is going to have two NBA teams, since I'm pretty sure Seattle already has plans for Oklahoma City. Not to mention, the hornets are ranked in the top 3, and in some cases number one, on most of the sports websites power rankings, I have a feeling attendence should get a little better eventually. As much as I would love the hornets name back in charlotte for the baseball team, I wonder if that would have a negative connotation with any of the few true charlotteans.
  2. Not to mention full construction loans, a guaranteed occupant, no sales requirements, and prefab building techniques. I don't understand how aloft wouldn't be built faster.
  3. Nope, there is 0 possibility, that it is for Twelve. That portion of the site would be the connecting road between all of the buildlings. keep in mind this is a very large parking deck that will take up plenty of space.
  4. A little while back one of the forumers confirmed that a grocery store was to be part of Catalyst, I think they said it was to be a Bloom
  5. Not that I should speak for atlrvr but I think he is refering to the fact its gonna be another restaurant for downtown charlotte, not exactly something we need, nor something that can be a guage for retail success in downtown. I would personally love a clothing boutique. Not to mention this proejct promied a good amount of retail, and its great that we will get at least a grocery store and two restaurants out of it, but we need real retail to front the park, this block or so is supposed to be supported by some good retail.
  6. I'm suprised nobody has mentioned this but I was driving down college sunday afternoon and had to be detoured due to the fact they were extending the walkway accross college and finally connecting it to epicenter. On the webcam, it looks like they are currently doing additional work to the walkway. Am I right in my understanding that it will be an outdoor walkway?
  7. If you draw a line off of 440 S. Church's church street side at the top, catalyst still has about 5 floors of height on the office tower. Its just perspective playing tricks on ur eyes.
  8. It is supposed to be between 8 and 10 floors. Its supposed to be a very large parking deck 400-500k sq feet total. Keep in mind this parking deck is supposed to support nearly 800 condos, 150 hotel rooms, and 365k of office, plus a park, a grocery store and 30k of retail.
  9. So I ran accross an ad for the office tower in the CBJ, and it seems it will be called 440 S Church, and there was an updated more vibrant rendering of the entire complex, I will try to scan it. I realize this is similar to a rendering already on here, but this is a more complete rendering, you can see what twelve should look like in the end on here too. I fixed the colors to make it not look like it was printed on newsprint.
  10. Sorry for the late answer my wife keeps me off the internet on the weekends, and at home. First I must say that I can't provide any renderings, however there are some very good ones on here that atlrvr and nibledell posted a while back. The corner facing 5th and college is indeed curved, as is the corner diagonal to that, and there is a lot of different things going on at the top, the building will resemble a shorter New York Times building. The Ritz is just rectilinear boxes stacked on their side, sounds very uninteresting to some but in final form it will be gorgeous, it will live and breath the international style with a clear glass modern take. Even with rendering such as this one you need to look closer. There is much more to this building even in this view. For instance on the right side of the picture of bofa, notice how the windows on the trade st. side of bofa don't match up with the college st. thats because there is a glass sheet that sticks out a good bit further. This is like this diagonally accross as well. In the renderings I've seen the middle section between the glass sheet, is set back further, creating an even more extreme look.
  11. Just wait, I've seen some renderings beyond whats on this website, and while yes I agree its not as magnificent as the new wachovia tower, it will be a spectacular tower. The Clear Glass Curtain is going to be nothing short of breathtaking, and its going to be much more than just a box. While the basic idea of it is that it is a box, There are a lot of things being done to make it interesting still, especially at streetlevel.
  12. I thought I had heard from MCL that tunnel-form construction was still going to be used, thats why the spires were cut out. I could very easily be wrong though.
  13. Its Tunnel-Form Construction, which I believe is only done with concrete. Just in case you are unfamiliar with tunnel form construction, its basically like using a prefab "mold" to pour each loadbearing wall/ column simultaneously, so you get basically a continuous pour. In other words the only wait u have is the curing time of the concrete before you start the next floor. Dbull, due to this method of construction, and the fact that the floor plates are smaller (462 1 and 2 bedroom condos on 27 floors vs. 440? 1,2 and 3 bedroom on 51 floors) the Vue should actually be built faster, once they finish the parking deck.
  14. U better Believe it brother. At the current rate this puppy should be topped out in May! By then we should see the office tower, and parking deck vertical a ways as well, plus prep work will have started for Twelve Hotel and Residences.
  15. Parking Deck, then office building, then twelve, I do believe that is the order that they are going to build in. Oh and I definately agree, this project is just flying along! Driving through on graham Street it is actually quite hard to fathom that there is going to be a baseball diamond on one side, and a gorgeous park surrounded by skyscrapers on the other. Now a days you drive down graham and all you can say is ick, and thinka bout how much potential the area has, hopefully we'll indeed see that potential met in the next 5 years. 18k of retail, a grocery store and 300k sq feet of parking to replace all the lost surface parking will be great as well.
  16. I too am excited about this project, but I am actually happy with the 2010 date, it gives them plenty of time to make this ball park perfect, I can't wait to go see a knights game downtown!
  17. They are pouring another floor on Aloft today. At the current rate of speed, We should see aloft topping out in less than 2 months, hopefully that will give them a chance to start making significant progress on 210 trade.
  18. Unfortunately It is all residential fronting w. morehead, which is quite unwise IMHO. However we do have a small chance at some street level retail in the central parcel, bounded by Dunbar and South Clarkson, but I honestly doubt it.
  19. 5k seat ampitheatre!!! How did I miss that? The newsletter looks great, and legit, makes me excited for this to actually be completed.
  20. Wonderful shots, I can't decide whether I want 2,3 of 5 to be my work desktop pic. I think i am going to have to go with 5
  21. This is out past craighead right? weird location for this type of project, even with the rennaisance project coming into view.
  22. I'm thinking they just need an additional crane, the other crane is in one of the better possible places. Cranes for towers of this magnitude often tie to the buildings they are building for extra stability, so this would be a great place for the crane.
  23. I thought that was the mill that is part of the huge Tuscan Redevelopment, am I wrong?
  24. I wonder if Davidals shares a similar uncertainty/anxiety about the video clip as I do. I'm not sure thrusting a transitioning area of the country into the spotlight as a hotspot is a good/neccessary idea. I personally am an investor around the five points area, and I'm actually made pretty uneasy about how this is going to effect my investments. There could be a chance that national investors might take this video into account and start the area moving too quickly, for this area to be done successfully, it can't happen all at once.
  25. Heres the site plan in context with the surrounding area. Sometimes site plans can get confusing to read, so I made the existing buildings actual existing buildings. This will do a lot for the NoDa area, and will provide, thankfully, another block to walk around on, as I've always thought the NoDa business district experience needed to be upgraded and updated.
