  1. Maybe a play on Bank of America's heart strings since he was the lead on there building with Caesar. I have no clue. I am not sure about MW, but FMK has never built anything over 10 stories as far as I know, at least not there in Charlotte. Can someone tell me how Gazi expects to build a "high rise" as Doug Smith eludes to in his most recent unveiling when the zoning outside the loop has significant height restrictions? Is this tract where the jewelry store and coffee shop are? Surely that site does not enjoy the priviledges of UMUD zoning.?
  2. geotechnical borings are part of the dd process - who is doing the sampling A2? Were you there?
  3. How about a Tiffany's or a Barney's? That would be awesome!
  4. I think the Crutchfield - McColl war has ended and everyone is working in harmony for the betterment of uptown (or at least I hope so). I can't imagine something like this holding up progress. I will do some research and find out of it is true.
  5. Thanks for the kudos - I like steel, concrete, cables, wind and just overall eb and flow! If I had to guess.... SRSS LS3P LITTLE DUDA PAINE I know I am late here, but those would be my guesses.
  6. I think the Trumps were here about two years ago and engaged an out of town firm to "snoop around" and find them a site. Rumor has it that they almost went forward on the Rennaissance property, but could never get a solid contract. Who knows? Anyway, the fact that they have been able to do what they have done so far without anyone finding out about it is worthy of attention. I also applaud their collaborative approach to developing here. Anyone know who the architectural candidates are?
  7. Am I confused? Is Crescent just not the seller of the Goodyear and CPS sites? Where does ot say they are involved?
  8. I just think it is wonderful that TRUMP and Infinity Partners are taking these types of things into consideration. It would be so easy to just stamp out a TRUMP product here or just sign a licensing agreement, but these comments are indicative of something spectacular.
  9. CLT - Trump has two business models, (one) as a developer owning the project from the ground up and (two) as a licensing entity only sponsoring a project with his namesake for a hefty fee. This project will no doubt fall under numero uno and will probably be built under his "International" brand due to the hotel component. I am with you, however...Design, Design, Design! From what I hear about the four architects who are being considered, this will truly be an iconic building for Charlotte.
  10. I would argue that it depends on the acquisition of the other parcels he is still trying to assemble, but the rumor is at least 1 mid-rise commercial and 1 very tall residential / hotel.
  11. NVQ - just back from vacation and saw your riddle!! Excellent skills my man, just excellent. I must ask, however, the reference to retainer was not completely figured out, but I think I got it. No one wants to be on the non-retainer side of BD!! Hope I am right...
  12. I just love speculation.... I speculate that The Vue is never built and that The Rennaisance site is sold before it goes vertical. FCC has no high rise experience.
  13. Interesting, but I disagree. Charlotte is extremely patient. Almost too patient. To date all of the development is funded partially by the tax dollar. The fact that Trump may even be looking at Charlotte says a lot for the community leaders and CCP who have built the city into something that is attractive to an international developer who historically does things without public money. When one developer makes this commitment and it is solid, others will follow in droves. Have a nice weekend.
  14. Thank you krazeeboi. My opinion is that (a) TRUMP is known for ultra luxury residential and high end hotels, as well as high end retail. Charlotte is in need of ALL THREE. Don't be confused with what you see in the mix now and what is coming out the ground currently as far as condos. They are units aimed at the fat, affordable part of the market, not the TRUMP market. Wachovia is bringing 2500 $1MM dollar a year + traders to Charlotte. They aren't going to want mid-level product. The hotel comment is common sense. (b) TRUMP, although not a Class A office developer, would be silly not to take advantage of the 4% vacancy rate in the Center City. Wachovia will bring on square footage, yes, but it is only going to increase the available space by 25% and there are no other spec buildings planned that I know of. This cannot support the current demand. TRUMP historically increases property values in markets they penetrate by 37%. Buy all that you can if you feel there is any chance of them coming.
  15. Anyone take wagers on it not being built?
  16. I am a new subscriber and giving this thing a test drive. This is the first thread I have read and it is truly amazing how many different opinions are voiced!
