  1. I was kind of wondering the same thing....it seems like every time he posts something...it is to dog fort smith...like i've said in other forums...im stuck in KC for the next few years....but im counting down the days until i can move back to fort smith....home sweet home...
  2. My wife and I are currently in Dental School in Kansas City. We are both from Fort Smith. I couldn't wait to leave Fort Smith when we moved away. At first i loved Kansas City. Now i hate it. I hate everything about it. I hate the traffic, the crime, the fact that i have to drive 20-25 minutes to find a walmart or a grocery store. When we get through with school we will most definately move back to Fort Smith, and that is something i can't believe i would ever say. Does Fort smith have its downside....without a doubt....but there isn't a city or town in this country you can't say the same thing about. No one ever likes to say any of the good things about fort smith....like...the traffic isn't bad....the crime isn't bad in most places....it's convenient to get places....everyone likes to bash.
  3. oh..i dont think van buren will hit 100K either....and i didnt mean for it to sound like that....
  4. One city that seems to always get left out when people talk about growth is Van Buren...i think i read somewhere recently that since 2000 Van Buren has grown by 14 percent....
  5. this may be a little off the topic we have been discussing...but i found this article on the net and it is actually some better news for fort smith.....for a change... fort smith
  6. I have recently heard that there may be plans to open up a 2nd Olive Garden and Red Lobster somewhere along the Hwy 71 corridor on the south end of town
  7. back to the original topic.....with the...i won't call it slowdown...but moderation in growth in nwa....does that change the way you feel about which city hits 100,000 1st?
  8. well...nothing has been posted in this thread in some time...i will try to give some updates as best i can.... while the job market in fort smith isn't anything to write home about...their have been a few things that are started to go our way....Golden Ventures...the private organization that bought out Beverly Enterprises...is going to add about 100 jobs...Baldor is going to add between 150 and 300 jobs...baldor closed two factories in other parts of the country and is bringing the workers in...Experian in Van Buren has opened and is employing about 250 people right now...and will add more jobs...not sure the name of the company...but they make limos...they have added 100 jobs....so...maybe things are going to turn around here....and...hooters is nearing completion...
