  1. If the Publix ever gets started. I'm starting to wonder. As for the PNC - It's not great, but there are much worse Bank designs than this, I was actually pleasantly surprised they went as far as they did to make it different from normal bank look in this town. I wished it wouldn't have been a bank, but since it is, I'll take the look. Just have to hope that one of those other corners gets the redevelopment that intersection needs.
  2. It would be a start. Hercules needs to get redeveloped too. It has a ton of potential with Brightwalk and all that has happened over there lately.
  3. Costwold to get a Farmers Market, what great news for the area. https://www.charlotteagenda.com/45080/cotswold-getting-farmers-market/
  4. As a regular visitor to Asheville, and hopefully one day resident I am hoping to understand if there is a real positive impact to the property and land from this boom of Breweries. They seem to be the main attraction to the city outside of the outdoor activities(skiiing, hiking and wilderness), and great for nightlife and keeping downtown bustling. But is there a value add to the land and properties in close proximity any more than before? Its so quiet in the Asheville forum I hope there are some folks who know or care to venture some ideas.
  5. That makes more sense. Should make that miserable parking lot even worse.
  6. Will be interested to see how this unfolds. If they shut down before Publix is ready, there's no grocery store close in to Cotswold, if they did it after Puiblix is open they would be handing over a lot of business.
  7. It has undergone an impressive change. Wilmore is just enjoying the line
  8. It sure is, leveled quickly. That's the beginning of a bunch of construction slated for this area.
  9. I don't really mind the Target, and am really happy about the Publix, especially if it is giving the area an opportunity to add/adjust some roads to improve the existing traffic issues. It means I don't have to leave the area at all if I don't want to and maybe a little better selection of bar/restaurants will pop up with all this development.
  10. I've found this is a new development being build right on N. Sharon Amity http://www.classicahomes.com/communities/CotswoldRetreat/
  11. Anything new on the Publix development. I'm assuming from what I see in the zoning request that the big old office building next to BofA is going to be demolished to make this happen?
  12. Yes some of the folks who live in this area have seen and heard the discussions that connecting PM and NoDa is the goal. Makes sense. I was at Hatties on Saturday and they had a nice crowd, good mix of what I would expect from PM bars and NoDa bars.
  13. Publix and development sounds great, the traffic struggle is real in the Wicks and anywhere near the Teeter and Elementary school. Hopefully some revisions and improvement can be made to the plan before anything gets going. How realistically can we get some of the neighborhoods better connected? I live in one that is a little ways North on Sharon Amity, and it takes literally a half hour to go .25 mils in the morning because none of the neigborhoods connect to each other and we all just sit on Sharon Amity. Friends in other surrounding neighborhoods, same problem. Literally can be in one culdesac and see the other streets through the woods. Just curious what the process is, if there is one.
  14. Any news on that Hercules building? Would love more details on the apartment planned. I hope it goes similar to the Alpha Mill and lots of additions around the renovation.
  15. I guess thats better than the boost mobile in an old gas station space that was knocked down. Was hoping for more
  16. The work on Coliseum Shopping center is definitely going on, they seem to be digging a huge trench close to the road. Not sure wether they are pulling things out of there or putting things in but there is a good bit of work happening daily.
  17. Could any of the old mines ever be re-opened? That would be a real way to honor the past that "The Gold district" is supposed to be about. I love the idea and the area has been in development for a long time since Wilmore started its turnaround. It's progress
  18. I never would have thought, but it is really turning into a destination spot in town.
  19. Love to hear it, that whole side of Statesville has been rumored to be destined for high rises for a long time. I'll take any sort of redevelopment in place of those buildings.
  20. I am wondering the same thing s I drive by this everyday. How great would it be if this could be a little mixed use condo/office/retail area? Maybe a bar or a few restaurants, some stores. I could see this little offshoot road developing into a someplace nice to walk and grab some food in the evenings. While I'm dreaming I'd like a bridge from BofA over to the Cotswold Village Teeter.
  21. Love seeing Memorial stadium home to two minor pro sports teams and getting dollars invested. It's a great venue and The Hounds/Queens SC owners should be given a ton of credit for making it happen. They single handedly are giving the stadium a purpose that the city didn't see and would have demolished it years ago if they had their way. Now I'd love to see someone with the money and passion to do the same for Bojangles Coliseum. Charlotte needs to hang on to as much of its history that still stands as possible(however little is actually left).
  22. I love the new life in this forum and for the NorthEnd idea. I'm sure there is more than just a little risk and question about some of this stuff becoming a reality, but with the amount of buying developers are already doing, the rate with which investors are buying up housing stock in the area and the current success in Brightwalk sales, it appears some of this is already happening and the city plan may just keep it moving. The area had this types of positive momentum in 2008 too, but the economy halted most of the progress and I think it is just coming back around. This is the only area this close to Trade and Tryon that can still be bought and developed, so its going to happen, just a question of if it happens according to the city's plan or some other evolution.
  23. Correct, Siemens Energy in Charlotte does not do Nuclear. They service and manufacture generators and turbines, for Steam, Gas and Air Cooled units. The recent events in the Nuclear world have only boosted future growth for these types of power. The large amounts of hiring being done over the next two years is for the new Gas Turbine division they have just relocated to Charlotte.
  24. Yes the Whiskey Wharehouse rooftop deck is slated to open this Friday or Saturday weather permitting. It should be a great spot
