  1. How do you figure? Pump the excess water to a holding tank/basin and then discharge it at a later time at a gradual rate.
  2. I've always wondered about the flooding problems. What with the amount of damage that it causes every time it happens, shouldn't Crabtree have installed a pumping system by now to discharge all of that excess water?
  3. When's the last time you've been on Hillsborough? Mitches has a wide variety of restaurant quality food at low prices. As tjoad said, there's also El Rodeo. Global Coffee has snack foods, and danishes, etc. There is the Golden Dragon and two other asian style restaurants. Brueggers Bagels has more than just bagels; they have salads, sandwiches, and soups. Dunkin donuts has donuts, ice cream, and breakfast foods. Further down there is East Village or Farmhouse which have bar/restaurant food. There's a few others too that aren't sandwich/pizza related, but I'm sleepy.
  4. Well one "easy" way for us to know the future of any mall expansion would be to determine if the deck is being built to support future construction on or w/in it. Anyone have some mall connections? hehe
  5. Was just googling around and ran across this old Observer article on accident archived on railfan.net. Might go out sometime soon and try and get some pictures. Here it is on google maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...mp;t=h&om=1
  6. The university does have a golf course out by the Vet School. It's called University Club, but it's not maintained well.
  7. So is this going to stretch _all_the_way to Barnes & Noble, basically tying into that structure? I'm having trouble picturing it too. I wonder if they've thought ahead enough to make sure construction of the bottom floor of the deck is at least finished by the time Thanksgiving comes around. Else that place is going to be worse than it has been with the reduction of parking. As a side note, it'd be kind of cool if they tacked on another floor on top of B&N while they were at it.
  8. I agree, there's only so much that can be done at one time. It just makes more sense to raze Terminal C and build it up to standards before dealing with A. When C's done, they could move some of A to C and over time raze it and rebuild, who knows.
  9. This dates to 2005, but at least it gives some idea of what's going on as far as location. Click on the image for a bigger one.
  10. I'm just saying from a business point of view. Those aren't necessarily my opinions.
  11. You guys aren't looking at this from a business point of view. By naming it Crabtree Towne Center, they are associating it with existing known models (ie: Cary & Triangle Towne Centers). This instantly gives the customer incite into what they are bringing to the table, merchandise. If they named it Galleria it would be harder to get the name across as a shopping center. Galleria also screams "high priced" while Towne says, "hey look guys, I could be affordable to you". As far being motivated to visit it, it doesn't matter. I'm sure you all have at some point been to Crabtree and seen it busy. The place is like a little city at times. It will get people to shop there due to its location, no matter what name it is.
  12. Brooks is not a viable thoroughfare. As stated by RaleighRob, the street no longer cuts through to Yarbrough drive from Hillsborough Street. Even if it was, this would probably be a bad idea due to the number of Wolfline buses that use the current Dan Allen route to get to Founders Drive. There is alot of traffic that uses Dan Allen and I can see alot of problems with the combination of buses and turns involved in a realignment of what was Brooks. Auto traffic aside, there would be slowdowns due to the shear number of students/pedestrians in the vacinity of Brooks.
  13. @PlazaMidwoodGuy: This map should help orient you. I highlighted the new Belk Men's location in red. It will be on the 2nd floor of the mall. Glenwood is located directly south of this map. @ncwebguy: There's definitely some space left, highlighted in this image. And then just for fun, what happens when Belk takes on a life of it's own and starts feeding on customers and grows to become one... I was bored at work, lol.
  14. Put a movie theater in there. I dunno, everything else has been done before.
  15. I never knew all those places existed by Peace. I'm definitely going to go and drag along some people whenever they open today. Maybe they should advertise some more. Unless they want to stay out of the mainstream and cater to their area only. Thanks Urban Planet for keeping me informed on Raleigh.
  16. My only problem with the proposed Friends of Dix plan is that it doesn't awe me really. I'd like to see them rip just a few of the remaining roads out, leave a couple. Add a nature trail in there and perhaps some baseball fields. All I see are soccer fields. Perhaps a frisbee golf course too! That'd get ALOT of people. Maybe an ampitheater. Just ideas.
