    The Plaza

In other words -- "get there EARLY". I love/hate busy movie theaters. Love them because you can sort of feed off of the crowd. Hate them because you can be totally annoyed by the crowd (most of whom are talking / getting up every 2 seconds, etc...). I wonder how much I'll attend my local theater once it's opened. I know in NYC, my "walk to" theater sucked - totally state of the art, so the theater itself didn't suck, it was the audience that did.... I used to take a 30 minute train ride to the financial district to watch movies 'cuz it wa dead and I could enjoy the show unlike that theater, where the crowd was literally the most inconsiderate I've ever (and I mean EVER) encountered. Fingers crossed for this one!

    The VUE

I've complained about the City of Orlando garbage truck that stops at 530 E. Central every morning between 3AM and 5AM. My bedroom window is literally 50 feet from their truck and they drag that damn dumpster out, over the curb, then roll it down the brick streets and reverse the whole process

    The Plaza

They work on it constantly. I see the crane moving very early in the morning around into the later evening. They do take Sunday off - though I have seen contractors working occasionaly on Sunday. This is going to totally change the whole Orange Ave area - I just hope they're putting a nice (large) resturant in there - ala Cheesecake Factory or something like that. Can't wait!

    55 West

This project just gets more & more disappointing, huh? You see all of these other projects breaking ground already (VUE, Star Tower, etc...) and they were all planned/announced much later than 55 west... I'll say it again - BOY AM I GLAD I PULLED OUT OF THIS BUILDING! Does anyone on these boards have a contract? If so, what are the devlopers saying?

    The VUE

I was at the gym across the street about an hour ago and there is no crane. Just a really, really big hole Can't wait for this thing to start going up. It's going to really "perk up" that area of town.
  6. Agree, once you get inside (and past the constant presence of homeless people hanging by the door) its actually pretty nice. It's by far one of my favorite libraries and I'm really happy to have such a large and well-kept library so close to home.
  7. Brutalist architecture in Orlando, though? I'm not a fan of that style, so maybe it's just me, but I think the building doesn't fit very well...
  8. When was the library built??? Does anyone have an explanation as to WHY it looks so... um... UGLY? Cost issues? Damn thing looks like a hurricane / fallout shelter! Any chance that it'll be "refurbished" to fit into the whole "city beautiful" idea? Hell, I'd even take another (F)BBARCH building instead of this one!
  9. I'm waving at you from Eola South right now... (high there!) I've never been in the lofts - how are they? Eola south is quite nice and very loft-like... Anyways, Howdy neighbor!
