    The VUE

Yep, they are. I was up at Manuel's on the 28th last night (restaraunt on top of the BOA building) for a party and could clearly see they were done.
  2. Wildside has OK burgers for an OK price. Also, I think a few places on Wall St. have burgers but never had one so I can't attest to the quality.
  3. I'm a college football junkie. Not sure about the Lee's Lakeside -- it's been under construction forever and I don't see any progress as of late. That spot would be perfect for a nice restaurant...
  4. It's the one to the left of the sushi place. The one across from the new publix was Market St. Cafe (which is now being turned into Spice steakhouse). There is another Spice steakhouse on Park Ave in WP. It looked really nice and trendy (and expensive). I'll have to try it sometime... They didn't say when CityFish was opening, but I hope soon because cheap "seafood shack" type food sounds good to me! Now, all we need is a great Jazz Club and a s-w-e-e-t sports bar d/t and I'll be set! (BTW - I wrote to BJ's brewery and begged them to open one downtown). That would make me happy.
  5. Was walking over to starbucks this morning for my fix and saw that Central City Market is closed. There is paper on the windows and a note that they are remodeling it and when it opens it will be called CityFish which is described as "an urban take on the coastal fish shack" and that it will be a casual restaurant serving fresh fish and will have a full bar. Sounds great to me! IMHO, central city went way down when they converted from the market concept to the restaurant concept. Their food just wasn't that good.
  6. Breeder bar is a derogatory (in a comical way) description for any bar that isn't explicitly gay ore one that is like Pulse (gay bar) vs. Antigua (breeder bar). It's used primarily in gay speak and shouldn't be taken as offensive, it's more a joke than anything.
  7. Just a quick note that I ate at Doc's last night and the service has gotten SO MUCH better than my last visit (about 5 months ago). I ate there about 4 or 5 times last year and the service was always spotty - though the food is top notch. It seems like they got the service thing ironed out and they just entered my "eating circle" again. THANK GOD for my high metabolism On a side note, is the university club taking over that floor that has the martini bar? It was "closed for a private function" last night and I'm wondering if that will be from hereon. I should have asked but those damned martini's seem to have distracted me!
  8. That time line is barring any unforeseen delays (but those NEVER happen in construction)! Pray for no hurricanes... UCF stadium is probably one of the ONLY big projects I've seen that went off without a hitch and 100% on schedule. That is impressive. As for the under-highway retail - NYC does this and they do it quite well with the midtown bridge. There is a huge market and a nice restaurant under there. That will be VERY cool for us because I-4 might as well be a 20 foot razor-wire topped fence with how it seems to split the downtown. I hope all of this really comes together and is as good as I'm thinking it may be. We'll see...
  9. AMEN! I really, really doubted this (Orlando tends to make you skeptical like that).... I AM SO F'N GLAD THIS PASSED... Are we in any risk of this being reversed? Can we truly rest easy until we see earth movers?
  10. Just saw this! WE ARE GROWING UP! Welcome to post-ol' school ORL! Crotty came off as a rock star tonight, no?
  11. I gotta get up at 5am - and I'm confused as to where we are now. Is this a go?
  12. Wow - I used to live like 10 doors down from that last guy in DeBary. He's a nice guy and very sharp (and made a very good point, too boot!).
  13. Damn it! I just got my stream to work and I see they are taking a 30 minute break! This is so not my day!
  14. What's up with Rosen threatening to sue? That guy is so self-interested. I got into a huge argument today with a guy at work about him. He said, "well he donated 2.5 mil to the local jewish community center." To which I replied, "and that helps me HOW?" VENUES are universal / public, whereas a 2.5 mil JCC is not. I really am starting to dislike Rosen more and more.
  15. I love BJ's brewhouse (by the Mall at Millenia)! They have THE BEST beer and that huge-ass screen at the bar will be nice when college football comes back! We need something like this downtown! The Clubhouse is OK but is kind of down-scale and overrun with Gator fans (I'm a seminole fan).
  16. LOL - "the bathrooms looked like a nightclub after a rave" -- I have flown JFK so many times outta the country when I lived in NYC for my work and could not agree more! What a major POS that airport is, domestic, international, whatever. It just sucks!. That damn airport was at least a 50% driver of my decision to move to Orlando (why does everyone hate MCO, BTW)? Domestically, MCO very good airport (and I've been to plenty (I used to fly every week to somewhere "new")) Though, see above, international needs lots of work!

    The Plaza

Well I know where I'm eating tonight!

    The Plaza

The one in TP does very well. I can't seem them closing it. But two of these in such close proximity seems a bit risky. Though I could see a Dexter's do very well in the CBD (if it was open late).

    The Plaza

Okay, I might have missed something, but is this like Dexter's over in Thorton Park / Winter Park? And if so, we're talking about this going into the Plaza retail? And finally, does that mean there will be TWO Dexter's downtown?

There is one of these on Sand Lake road by the Publix (restaurant row). Basically, it is not very smoky at all and the entire building is one huge humidor! The place is great! I think this is perfect for downtown...
  21. While I don't eat there enough, I think LUMA is probably the best for food, atmosphere and overall experience. Just sucks it's in WP and not downtown. Hue is always reliably good and usually quite the "scene." I'm a gin martini guy, and at Hue, the servers/bartenders pour birdbath-size martinis in super chilled glasses. Then every 10 minutes or so they refresh your "warm" glass with a fresh cold one, even giving you new olives (and they have blue cheese stuffed olives which are so damn good). A very nice (and appreciated) touch. I've eaten at Graze twice and am so far not that impressed. The chef really, REALLY seems to be into the Chinese 5-spice thing. The chicken fried rice was so "5-spicy" I almost got nauseated, and I like 5-spice! Can't remember what I had last time, but it too was loaded with 5-spice. I am going to give them a few more months to work through their kinks before I give them one more try. I have yet to hit District 5 - is that any good? I keep forgetting that place exists when making my plans. And why does nobody ever seem to mention Beluga in WP Village? I love that place and it's usually busy. Another good choice in my book and their bar is tops.
  22. Pretty much everything is available to the public. With the exception of Manuel's on the 28th (in the BOA building) everything is on street level.
  23. Do you want just towers or mid-rises, too?
